Anthony Joshua and Mike Tyson’s Contrasting Views on the Tyson vs. Jake Paul Exhibition Bout

The anticipation surrounding the exhibition bout between boxing legend Mike Tyson and social media star Jake Paul on July 20th has ignited a flurry of discussions within the boxing community. Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has emerged as a strategic voice in this excitement, offering a perspective that differs from many.

In a calculated prediction, Joshua suggests a victory for Jake Paul, rooted in the undeniable reality of Tyson’s age. At 58, Tyson is well past his prime fighting years, a fact not lost on Joshua, who empathetically acknowledges the limitations Tyson might face in the ring. Contrasting Tyson’s age, Jake Paul, at 27, is in the thick of his athletic prime, presenting a significant advantage in Joshua’s eyes.

However, Joshua’s comments extend beyond mere technical assessment, expressing a subtle concern for Tyson’s well-being. He acknowledges the risks associated with stepping back into the ring at such an advanced age, expressing a hope for Tyson’s health above all else.

Furthermore, Joshua delves into the broader phenomenon of influencer boxing, where celebrities and social media stars like Jake Paul take up the sport. While this trend has sparked passionate debate within the boxing community, Joshua offers a more optimistic viewpoint. He sees influencer boxing as a measured evolution, attracting a new audience to the previously insular world of professional boxing.

Joshua argues that influencer boxing can ultimately benefit the sport as a whole, from established fighters gaining wider recognition to increased revenue for promoters. He believes that this influx of viewers can have a ripple effect, strengthening boxing overall.

Jake Paul fight against Mike Tyson is announced for July 20 and will be streamed live on Netflix

On the other hand, Mike Tyson, despite his fearsome reputation, has always held a deep respect for boxing as a sport. His perspective aligns more closely with Joshua’s cautious stance, expressing concerns about exhibitions that prioritize spectacle over athletic merit. Tyson likely sees the exhibition as a test of his legacy, raising questions about his motivations and the potential impact on his reputation.

Tyson’s concerns are echoed by other veteran fighters like Lennox Lewis and Deontay Wilder, who express deep concern for Tyson’s well-being and skepticism about Jake Paul’s chances against the boxing legend.

In contrast, Jake Paul revels in the hype surrounding the fight, portraying himself as the clear favorite and leveraging his social media fame to promote the event. His approach, while commercially driven, has sparked controversy within the boxing community, with some viewing it as disrespectful to the sport’s traditions and legends.

Overall, the contrasting perspectives of Anthony Joshua, Mike Tyson, and Jake Paul reflect the complexity of the upcoming exhibition bout. While Joshua offers a measured analysis rooted in empathy and concern for Tyson’s well-being, Tyson and other veteran fighters express reservations about the potential impact on the sport’s integrity. Meanwhile, Jake Paul’s brash confidence and self-promotion add a layer of intrigue to the pre-fight dynamics, setting the stage for a highly anticipated showdown on July 20th.

  • Mike Tyson At Age 57: The Ring Is A Dangerous Place For Young Men And Potentially Lethal For Anyone About To Be A Senior Citizen!

Mike Tyson At Age 57: The Ring Is A Dangerous Place For Young Men And Potentially Lethal For Anyone About To Be A Senior Citizen!

Mike Tyson celebrated his 57th birthday on sunday.

When he turned 30 he told some of us he was astonished he had lived that long and did not expect to be alive for his 40th.

That either his crazed, drug-fuelled lifestyle would kill him. Or he would die in a street fight. Or he would be murdered on one of his occasional returns to his gang-land birthplace of Brownsville in New York, where a high proportion of his old enemies still resided.

Now Iron Mike is talking about making a return to boxing, either in charity exhibitions or full-on fights with an eye to another bid for the world heavyweight title. Starting perhaps with a trilogy fight against his nemesis Evander Holyfield.

This, just as we thought he had reached the age of maturity. A notion supported by videos of him back in muscular shape and pounding the punch-bag with what looks like his old knock-out power.

Careful, Mike. The ring is a dangerous place for young men and potentially lethal for anyone soon to become a senior citizen, which is classified in America as those reaching the grand old age of 55. As Holyfield did two years ago.

Well, Tyson continues to describe himself as crazy as he regains solvency through his legal cannabis farm in Nevada. While Holyfield is still broke.

    Heaven help them.

Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller, who blew millions when he failed a drugs test on the eve of what should have been his first world heavyweight title shot against Anthony Joshua, has done it again.

Just as he was on the brink of a comeback from suspension in Las Vegas this month, Miller has tested positive for another belly-full of performance-enhancing nasties.

Still he is in denial, claiming for the second time that he has never knowingly used steroids and that either he accidentally ate contaminated food or that something he ingested was spiked by a rival ‘because he is really the best heavyweight in the world.’

Try telling that to Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua or Deontay Wilder.

Try telling that to the Nevada State Athletic Commission as they decide whether this time he should be banned from the ring for life.

Once a Big Baby, always a Big Baby.

How the Boxing Legend’s $55 Million Disappearance Brought Him to the Brink, Unable to Satisfy His Legal Obligations

Mike Tyson is a name that resonates with both greatness and controversy. Known as one of the most ferocious boxers in history, Tyson’s rise to stardom was meteoric. Tyson’s greatness in the ring cannot be overstated. At just 20 years old, he became the youngest heavyweight champion in history, capturing the title in 1986.

However, amidst the glory and success, Tyson faced numerous legal troubles that tarnished his reputation. Recently, Tyson opened up about one case. In an episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, he opened up about the time he lost $55 million after being unable to pay his lawyers.

Mike Tyson shares his story of losing $55 million dollars

J Balvin recently appeared on Tyson’s podcast as a guest. During one segment of the podcast, Tyson shared the story about the time he was betrayed. Tyson stated that he “got caught up” with a case, where “this guy played me for what-like 80 million?” Tyson recalled the devastating financial loss as he had to make do with just 25. Facing the burden of expensive legal battles, Tyson reluctantly settled the case for a reduced amount of $25 million.

He further shared that its because he didn’t want to pay a lot of money to his lawyers. And he wanted to keep the money he’s getting paid. His co-host, DJ Whoo Kid empathized with Tyson’s ordeal. The Brooklyn native further asked his guest if he had been through “that stage in your career when you trust somebody, and they play you dirty.” Balvin agreed and shared his own disappointment in the music industry’s prevalence of individuals using others for personal gain while pretending to be friends. Furthermore, he said, “Being grateful and loyal is all I need and that’s all I ask when you have a friendship.” He believes in expecting loyalty from those around him.

Tyson’s $100 Million lawsuit against Don King

It is unknown which lawsuit Tyson is talking about in the above video. However, the details seem similar to the time he sued his former promoter Don King for a whopping $100 million. He had claimed that King allegedly stole the amount from him while promoting him after he got out of prison. In the end, Tyson managed to settle for an amount of $14 million. However, it all went towards paying his $38.4 million debt at the time.

It is possible that Tyson might have changed the numbers a little intentionally. Furthermore, during another episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, back in 2020, he revealed how he kicked King in the back of his head while they were in a car. Tyson revealed that King hit the brakes, and the former world heavyweight champion started beating him in the car.

“I’m trying to get the girl in the front seat to hold him, so he can’t run because I couldn’t [hit] him the way I wanted to. As soon as I let him go he got out of the car. I tried to run across, and he did a little back turn and got back in the front, drove off, and left me on the highway,” he said. What do you think about Tyson’s recollection of the event? Do you think he was referring to the Don King lawsuit?

Jon Jones Challenges Mike Tyson to the Ultimate Showdown – But There’s a Catch

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has called out former world heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson for not one, but two fights.

It began while Tyson was doing a live stream with Charlie Mack. The former boxing champion then mentioned Jones in conjunction with talks of UFC fighter pay. Tyson then elaborated, saying that he and Jones would need to fight if the latter wants to earn the extravagant amounts that high-level boxers do.

“Listen to this, UFC is more popular than boxing, right? Higher ratings, right? But a UFC fighter will never be richer than a first-class fighter. To make a $100 million, Conor McGregor had to fight Floyd Mayweather. Jon Jones got to fight me if he wants to make some super money.”

This garnered a response from Jones, who at first tweeted “I’m listening,” then tagging Tyson. Jones then formulated a challenge for fights in both boxing and MMA – with a backhanded promise of mercy.

“I’ll box you in the ring if you promise to give me a real fight in the Octagon afterwards,” Jones wrote. “And because I respect you so much, I promise I won’t break anything on you.”

Tyson announced his return to boxing earlier this year. While no opponent has been officially announced, fighters from the likes of Tito Ortiz to Shannon Briggs have been reported.

At surface level this may seem like an outlandish challenge, however Jones’ future is much more uncertain than it was last year. After that negotiations regarding a heavyweight fight with Francis Ngannou broke down, Jones’ relationship with the UFC became strained and contentious. Jones has even gone so far as to claim that he has vacated his title.

These aspects in mind, it seems less unlikely that Jones’ and Tyson’s paths cross.

  • No Joke: Man PULLS GUN On Mike Tyson During Comedy Show Because World Champ Refused To Fight Him

No Joke: Man PULLS GUN On Mike Tyson During Comedy Show Because World Champ Refused To Fight Him

Mike Tyson got the surprise of his life when a man with a gun drew the weapon at him during a small comedy show where the boxer was in attendance. The incident happened in Hollywood, California, on Tuesday night and was caught on camera. FYI — you won’t believe how it ended!

The show took place at a rooftop bar in Tinsletown. In the shocking clip, Tyson is seen enjoying his night while sitting in the front row. His pleasure turns sour when a random man approaches the retired fighter and begins shouting, interrupting the comedian’s entire set.

The MC of the night attempts to calm the man down, jumping in between him and the former professional athlete. The strategy doesn’t work — it appears to make the random comedy show attendee even angrier.

Shouting erupts and the MC appears to shove the man. It looks as if he’s walking away, but that’s not the case. The angry man turns around and pulls out a weapon from his waistband, and allegedly threatens to shoot the MC. He begins waving the gun at the crowd, including Tyson who is just sitting feet away.

According to reports, the man cocked his gun and was ready to fire.

Of course, everyone in attendance freaked out, except Tyson. In the video, people are heard screaming and seen ducking under tables. The boxer just sat calmly. The man did not fire and later expressed regret for pulling it out.

What happens next is also shocking.

He approaches Tyson and asks him not to call the police. After the man expresses his remorse once again, Tyson gets up from his chair and gives the random guy a hug. They embrace for quite some time before the man makes his loud and verbal exit.

The incident allegedly went down after the man approached Tyson looking for a fight. According to reports, he wanted to throw blows with the ex-boxing legend.

The weapon scare left everyone on edge, causing the comedy crowd to trickle out with a quickness. Tyson also left before the show was done.

LAPD was never called over the incident.

From Boxing Legend to Football Fashionista: Mike Tyson’s Astonishing Shirt Collection, Revealing Unlikely Rivals and Club Affiliations

Iron Mike’s collection of boxing memorabilia and belts is arguably one of the most valuable in the sport.

But his collection of football shirts is also something to behold.

A Twitter thread of the former undisputed heavyweight champion wearing what are now classic shirts has started doing the rounds.

The boxing legend’s shirt collection boasts a now 22-year-old Umbro-produced England top – which costs a pretty penny nowadays.

That England shirt, however, isn’t the oldest owned by Tyson – who also has a 1998-1999 Manchester United home top in his collection.

Tyson has also donned a 1998 Scotland home shirt – which he wore before his Hampden Park tussle with Lou Savarese in 2000.

In 2013, Tyson was surprisingly gifted a Wolves home shirt by his former sparring partner Joe Egan.

The gift came after Egan showed him comments from then-Wolves boss Dean Saunders likening the club’s decline to his.

Tyson, according to the Express & Star, said of Saunders’ comments: “He’s right.

“I went from the best in the world to a very bad place.

“I don’t know that much about football but it sounds like Wolverhampton have a manager who can turn the team around.

“Joe is going to let me know how they get on.

“When I’m over in England I would like to see them in action.”

Tyson, over the years, has also been snapped wearing Benfica, Rangers, Brazil and Argentina tops.

But perhaps the most random shirt Tyson has ever been spotted wearing is a Peterborough United top.

Tyson was in attendance at London Road in July 2010 to take in a pre-season friendly between Posh and West Ham ahead of a fan event.

But he’d never heard of Posh before he arrived in East Anglia.

He said: “I’ve never heard of Peterborough before but as soon as I heard it was West Ham I thought, ‘We’ve got to really give it to them.’”

Tyson may not have known who Peterborough were before turning up in town.

But the fact he donned one of their tops will likely forever endear him to Posh fans.

Unmasking Mike Tyson’s Most Formidable Foe: The Little-Known Boxer Who Collapsed in Their Fight, Earning Tyson’s Respect

Mike Tyson still reigns as the youngest heavyweight champion in history, following his 1986 knockout over Trevor Berbick aged just 20.

The American legend went on to face some of the biggest names in boxing history.

That includes Larry Holmes, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis – but none stand out to Tyson as much as Pinklon Thomas.

Iron Mike knocked out Thomas in round six of their 1987 bout, but one onslaught of combination punching sticks in the memory.

Asked by History Bites on what his hardest fight was, Tyson revealed: “I thought it was Pinklon Thomas, he was my toughest opponent.

“I never thought him, but two years ago I watched the tape of him, a friend of mine told me to watch it.

Mike Tyson Was the Boxer Hollywood Taught Us to Love. What Happened? - The New York Times

“I hit him with seventeen punches, flat, on the face, he went down but it was seventeen punches!

“Seventeen punches, flush, all of them were as hard as they could be and the last one he just passed out.

“I thought ‘God, that is my toughest fight, he took seventeen on the chin!’”

Thomas, now 65, had a respectable career, winning the WBC title against Tim Witherspoon in 1984.

He went on to retire following defeat to Lawrence Carter in 1993, after bouts against Berbick, Holyfield and Riddick Bowe.

Tyson, 56, meanwhile hung up his gloves in 2005 in the aftermath of dismal defeats to Danny Williams and Kevin McBride.

But he made a shock comeback in 2020 for an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr.

And despite speculation over a similar spectacle bout against YouTube star Jake Paul, 26, Tyson confirmed he is staying retired.

He said on his podcast: “No way. I’m not fighting nobody, I’m just chilling.”

BREAKING: Tyson Fury beats Derek Chisora with dominant performance to defend WBC heavyweight title

Tyson Fury defended his WBC heavyweight title after a more than comfortable win over Derek Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.

In what was a largely one-sided contest, Fury dominated from start to finish as Chisora failed to get close to his opponent to land any meaningful punches.

Fury caught Chisora with an uppercut in the second round but was luckily saved by the bell as Fury came in looking to finish his opponent off.

During the third round, another huge shot from Fury landed and Chisora was starting to look shaky on his feet. The defending champion continued to throw multiple combinations but Chisora was still standing strong.

Fury then started to control the proceedings by using a range of jabbing combinations as Chisora continued to struggle to get close. As the rounds ticked by, there was an overriding feeling that the bout will end when Fury wanted it to.

Eventually, the fight was stopped in the 10th round after the referee deemed Chisora not in the right state to continue. Fury has successfully defended his WBC title. It was a truly valiant effort by Chisora but it was not enough as Fury proved to be simply too good.

IT’S OVER! 🥊 Tyson Fury stops Derek Chisora in the 10th round after an utterly dominating performance.

This was the third time the pair had been in the ring together, their previous two bouts happened in 2011 and 2014. Fury won the first fight by unanimous decision and the second fight was stopped by Chisora’s corner in the tenth round.

After the fight, Fury paid tribute to his opponent, he said: “What a tough man. I was hitting him with shots there that would’ve knocked anyone else spark out but he stood up to all of them.

“He was calling me a little b***h in there, saying ‘you can hit harder than that’.”

Fury added: “I felt good, I needed some rounds as I haven’t boxed since April… I felt good in there tonight and felt like I landed my jab and landed some good punches.

“Take nothing away from [Chisora] he’s an absolute warrior and an absolute British folk hero. It’s been a privilege to fight him three times. We all love Derek Chisora.”

A blockbuster showdown between Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk for the world heavyweight titles is ‘almost done’.

That’s according to Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas, who has claimed that an agreement on the bout is nearing a done deal.

Fury vs. Usyk is set to land in Saudi Arabia and could happen as soon as late February 2023.

“We are almost done,” said the Ukrainian’s manager. “There is not much to talk, two heavyweights, the undisputed heavyweight championship bout, that’s what people need… Most likely we are aiming for Saudi.”

Usyk holds the WBA (super), WBO, IBF and The Ring Magazine titles while Fury owns the WBC belt.

The proposed undisputed clash is at an advanced stage and comes after the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ defended his iconic green and gold belt against Derek Chisora last weekend.

Speaking after Fury’s stoppage victory over Chisora, his promoter Frank Warren said: “There are no obstacles in the way of making the fight.”

Fury added: “I think he’s willing. He looks willing. I would like to think there’s not a man born who could beat me in my own era, but you can never underestimate anybody.”

As for Usyk, he hasn’t fought since defeating Anthony Joshua for a second time in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last summer.

Fury and Usyk faced off as the latter watched the fight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from ringside.

Usyk, 35, made his heavyweight debut in 2019 and beat Chisora before securing a shot at Joshua for the world heavyweight titles.

He stunned the Brit to bag the titles and earned another victory over him in their rematch.

Tyson Fury is planning a trip to Qatar after his fight against Derek Chisora tonight, and claims he will sneak alcohol into the country.

Tyson Fury claims that he will defy the alcohol laws in Qatar following his fight

Tyson Fury is set to face off against Derek Chisora for the third time tonight, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, Fury has revealed his plans following the flight, which includes travelling to Qatar and bringing alcohol with him.

Fury has told The Sun that he has already planned to travel to Qatar for a holiday, and to watch the Three Lions in the World Cup.

Alcohol sales are under strict control in the country, but it was set to be sold in and around stadiums at the World Cup.

However, just two days before the first match kicked off, there was a U-turn and it was decided that no alcohol would be sold around stadiums, leaving several fans in disarray. It would still be sold in fan zones away from the stadium though.

Fury has the same level of confidence for England’s chances against Senegal, with a win meaning they will progress to the quarter finals of the World Cup.

He has said that he will go to Qatar to cheer on his country in the quarter final following tonight’s fight, and has vowed to bring alcohol into the stadium.

He claimed that the alcohol ban at Qatar’s eight World Cup stadiums was ‘no bother’ for him, and that he’ll get ‘messy again’ in Qatar for a possible quarter final clash against France or Poland.

Fury boldly stated: “I’ll put it up my top. Who’s going to stop me? I’m not an alcoholic, I’m just a devil for the drink.”

The two-time world heavyweight champion is reportedly planning to go for a lads’ holiday without his wife and children to the Middle Eastern nation.

“I’m 100 percent going to get messy with the fans. I’m known for that. I’m going to sneak a few cases in my suitcase.” He said with regard to bringing alcohol to the country.

“They can have anything they want — whatever gets them going.”

Fury has a history of going to football tournaments and partying with fans, ordering over 200 jagerbombs and accumulating a bill of £850 for fans during Euro 2016 in France.

It should be noted that in Qatar, drinking in public areas, i.e areas where it is not legal to do so, a prison sentence of up to 6 months and/or a fine up to QAR 3,000 (£670) will be issued.

On top of that, the 34-year-old aims to meet England captain Harry Kane and the rest of the squad for a pep talk ahead of the quarter final if they are to beat Senegal.

“I would tell them forget about what you’re thinking, just go and f***ing win.”

He did send a message to the England players too, saying: “You’ve done all the hard work to get into this position so just go out there and enjoy the game.”

Tonight, Fury vs Chisora III takes place in London at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Fury defending the WBC heavyweight title.
