Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk for undisputed world heavyweight titles is 'almost done'

A blockbuster showdown between Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk for the world heavyweight titles is ‘almost done’.

That’s according to Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas, who has claimed that an agreement on the bout is nearing a done deal.

Fury vs. Usyk is set to land in Saudi Arabia and could happen as soon as late February 2023.

“We are almost done,” said the Ukrainian’s manager. “There is not much to talk, two heavyweights, the undisputed heavyweight championship bout, that’s what people need… Most likely we are aiming for Saudi.”

Usyk holds the WBA (super), WBO, IBF and The Ring Magazine titles while Fury owns the WBC belt.

The proposed undisputed clash is at an advanced stage and comes after the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ defended his iconic green and gold belt against Derek Chisora last weekend.

Speaking after Fury’s stoppage victory over Chisora, his promoter Frank Warren said: “There are no obstacles in the way of making the fight.”

Fury added: “I think he’s willing. He looks willing. I would like to think there’s not a man born who could beat me in my own era, but you can never underestimate anybody.”

As for Usyk, he hasn’t fought since defeating Anthony Joshua for a second time in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, last summer.

Fury and Usyk faced off as the latter watched the fight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium from ringside.

Usyk, 35, made his heavyweight debut in 2019 and beat Chisora before securing a shot at Joshua for the world heavyweight titles.

He stunned the Brit to bag the titles and earned another victory over him in their rematch.

Fury has defended his WBC title three times since dethroning Deontay Wilder in February 2020.
