Reba McEntire Shares a Rare Glimpse at “Inseparable” Romance With Actor Rex Linn

Reba McEntire exclusively told E! News about the best parts of her romance with actor Rex Linn, saying, “We’ve been pretty much inseparable ever since June 16 of 2020.”

Watch: Reba McEntire Shares Rare Details About Her Rex Linn Romance (Exclusive)

Reba McEntire has gotten far more than seven minutes in heaven with boyfriend Rex Linn.

Although the country superstar has known the actor since 1991, their romance didn’t take off until 2020, when Reba guest starred on his show Young Sheldon—and their chemistry was undeniable as soon as they met up for dinner after filming.

“It was just like a magnet,” she exclusively told E! News’ Francesca Amiker. “We didn’t get to see each other from January ‘til June 16, but we created an intimacy by texting and talking over the telephone that we wouldn’t have gotten if we’d have been together all of that time.”

She added, “We’ve been pretty much inseparable ever since June 16 of 2020.”

And surprisingly, The Voice coach is thankful for the time they had apart, noting that people will often “gravitate to the physical so quickly” that they don’t get the opportunity to start off as friends before falling in love. So by getting to know each first, Reba explained, “You know the ins and outs of their personality and their faults…You love them for the way they are, instead of it being a total attraction and sizing them up because of appearance.”

After all, it was Rex’s sense of humor that drew Reba in, with her telling E!, “He makes me laugh.”

But does Reba, 69, see marriage in her future with the 67-year-old? The Grammy winner—who was previously married to Charlie Battles and Narvel Blackstock—isn’t ruling it out, especially if it’s something that Rex wants.

“I’m truly committed to Rex,” she explained. “So if that’s something he feels totally strong about, that’s fine with me. He’s never been married before. So if he wants to experience that, I’m OK with that.”

But Reba knows that in order to find love, you have to love yourself first.

“When you do love yourself, that means you’re confident, you’re comfortable,” she said. “You love yourself, and it’s easier to love others.”

And that self-confidence helped her understand the meaning of real beauty, which Reba feels comes from being “comfortable in your own skin.” It’s an idea she’s exploring in her new partnership with Dove as the company celebrates 20 years of real beauty, committing to never using AI to represent real people in ads.

“That’s a great thing,” Reba said, “because in my industry that’s what we’re finding right now: We want to be presented as ourselves. I just liked everything that Dove was doing, and I wanted to be a part of it.”

Who Went Home and Who Made It Through Night 1 on ‘The Voice’ Season 25 Knockouts

Reba McEntire, Dan + Shay, Chance the Rapper and John Legend paired up their teammates for the first night of Knockouts for Season 25 of ‘The Voice.’

    Anya True

The Knockouts began tonight on Season 25 of The Voice with coaches Reba McEntire, John Legend, Chance the Rapper and Dan + Shay matching up their teams for sing-offs which determine which artist goes through to the Playoffs and which one goes home.

“It’s such a powerful experience for so many artists and you see them coming into their own in the Knockouts and I love it,” John said.

The Knockouts are different from the Battles in that they are not duets. Rather, each of the artists makes their own song choice, which gives America a chance to see who they are as a performer.

This year, the Mega Mentor is country great Keith Urban who will be working with the coaches and the artists on the songs that they’ve chosen to prepare for their performances, but it will be up to the individual coaches as to who goes through to the Playoffs. There are no Saves in this round, but there are Steals.

Tears, Chills, & Triple Steals: Inside the “War” of The Voice Knockouts Night 1

The NBC competition is entering its fiercest phase yet! Here’s everything that went down on Night 1 of Knockouts.

Well, we’ve arrived. Season 25 of NBC’s The Voice has officially entered the treacherous waters of Knockouts, just two teeny-tiny steps away from the Live Performance Shows.

This is when the collection of Coaches — Reba McEntire, John Legend, Chance the Rapper, and Dan + Shay — must make the hardest decisions yet, whittling down their teams to the absolute cream of the crop (with a little help from Mega Mentor Keith Urban).

“It gets so hard to make a decision in the Knockouts,” Legend proclaimed in tonight’s episode on April 8. “Everybody’s so good, everybody survived the Battle. Nobody deserves to go home!” Of course, not everyone needs go home, not when there are Steals to be invoked.

Here’s everything that happened during Night 1 of The Voice Season 25 Knockouts…

    Team Reba

    Tae Lewis vs. Asher HaVon

Lewis sang “Nothing On You” by Cody Johnson; HaVon sang “Unbreak My Heart” by Toni Braxton

By the end of the two performances, McEntire was all bleary-eyed and overcome with emotion. “You guys give me chills, make me cry,” she gushed. “I felt like a proud mama. You’ve both got so much soul. It comes from your toenails when you guys start singing.” HaVon was named the victor, with McEntire citing his uniqueness as the main factor in her decision. “I definitely think Asher could win,” she said. Before Lewis could leave the stage, however, Chance the Rapper, Dan + Shay, and John Legend all invoked their right to a Steal. It was literally called a “war!” Faced with three great options, Lewis ultimately went with Team Dan + Shay.

    WINNER: Asher HaVon

STEAL: Tae Lewis joins Team Dan + Shay

    Ashley Bryant vs. Josh Sanders

Bryant sang “Heads Carolina, Tails California” by Jo Dee Messina; Sanders sang “Wild as Her” by Corey Kent

“Ashley, you did great. You hit that big note at the end. I know you’ve got the pipes to support it,” McEntire said. “And Josh, you can sell a song so well that I believe it. That’s one of your talents. I love you both and thanks for taking the journey.” In the end, Sanders was named winner due to his ability to full inhabit “the songs that he chooses,” the Coach explained. “He relates to ’em, and I think that’ll be a huge contender.”

WINNER: Josh Sanders (Ashley Bryant sent home)

    Team Dan + Shay

    Frank Garcia vs. Olivia Rubini

Garcia sang “El Triste” by José José’; Rubini sang “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John

Dan Smyers praised Garcia’s performance as “very dramatic … in the best way,” going on to compliment the singer’s electric stage presence. “Olivia,” he continued, “I feel like that came such a long way from rehearsals.” Shay Mooney then offered up his feedback, hailing Garcia as an evocative performer. “I can’t speak Spanish, but I didn’t need to, and that’s the beauty in it. I felt it. That’s all that matters.” However, Rubini’s decision to sing the Elton John classic in a higher key (at the behest of Mega Mentor Keith Urban) ultimately won her the Knockout. As Mooney explained, “There’s something special about what Olivia did … she showed us that she was very coachable, that she was ready to go to that next level.” Smyers added, “Her voice just inherently has a bit of a retro thing to it. She was spot-on with all of her notes.”

WINNER: Olivia Rubini (Frank Garcia sent home)

    Anya True vs. Kyle Schuesler

True sang “Runaway” by AURORA; Schuesler sang “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur

Torn between two great options, Mooney described the necessity of picking between True and Schuesler as “the hardest choice we’ve had on this show so far.” True came away victorious, but Schuesler stayed in the game with a surprise Steal from Chance, who exclaimed, “I was playing the long game, baby! I was just like a leopard, waiting to pounce. I knew I was gonna get [him] on my team at some point. I just had to play my cards right.”

    WINNER: Anya True

STEAL: Kyle Schuesler joins Team Chance

    Team Legend

Val T. Webb vs. Nathan Chester

Webb sang “Sweet Love” by Anita Baker; Chester sang “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” by Elvin Bishop

“Val, your highs were so high. It was so stunning. It was some of the best moments I’ve seen on this stage,” Legend said. “And then Nathan, it felt cinematic, the way you delivered the performance. It felt like we were in a movie about that era of music and you were playing this amazing character that you understood. Really powerful.” Chester’s blockbuster delivery won him the Knockout.

    Team Chance

    Serenity Arce vs. Dani Stacy

Arce sang “Unfaithful” by Rihanna; Stacy sang “Jaded” by Miley Cyrus

Chance praised Stacy as a “talented vocalist,” going on to add, “I felt like you had a lot of passion onstage. I really wish you had tried to do a little bit more with the song.” And while Arce was “willing to take a lot of risks” with her performance, it wasn’t up to the level of her past vocals. Despite that, Arce still won the Knockout because “she has the passion,” Chance explained. “In a competition like this, where everybody can sing, you have to be willing to go for it. Every time she gets onstage, she does it with the professionalism and intent of somebody way beyond her years.”

WINNER: Serenity Arce (Dani Stacy sent home)

The Voice Has a Schedule Change You Need to Know About

Attention The Voice viewers: Your favorite musical competition show is changing its schedule just a bit.

Every season of The Voice is a massive undertaking. You’ve got star-studded Coaches, dozens of singers, several rounds of stiff competition, a studio audience and, eventually, fans voting live from home. It’s a lot, which helps explain why the show often airs two days a week on NBC.

The Voice Has a Schedule Change You Need to Know About | NBC Insider

In the coming weeks, though, you might notice a key change in The Voice’s schedule, and if you’re a fan, it’s worth noting now so you don’t miss anything.

How Is The Voice Changing Up Its Schedule?
We’ve watched through the Blind Auditions and the Battles of Season 25, which means it’s time for the remaining singers to head into the Knockouts. That also means a slight change in programming for The Voice itself. Beginning with the first Knockouts episode on April 8, The Voice will move to airing just one day a week for the duration of the Knockouts and the Playoffs.

That means that for the entire remaining month of April, The Voice will only be airing on Monday nights on NBC, with the same episodes available to stream the next day on Peacock. As usual, you’ll get two hours of the show during those Monday night broadcasts, and as usual they’ll kick off at 8 p.m. ET. The only difference then is that you won’t get a follow-up episode until the following Monday.

But that’s only for the month of April. On Monday, May 6, The Voice Season 25 will begin its thrilling home stretch with a return to airing two days a week, and this time it’ll all be live. The Live performance rounds will air Mondays, followed by results shows on Tuesdays, both beginning at 8 p.m. ET. It all builds to the two-part Season 25 finale, where the winner of The Voice will be revealed, on May 20 and 21.

Keith Urban Has a Request for Former ‘Voice’ Coach Kelly Clarkson Ahead of Knockout Rounds

The country superstar was blown away by the daytime host’s cover of his song, “Somebody Like You.”

Keith Urban is gearing up to help contestants as the Mega Mentor on The Voice season 25, but he’s also giving props to another former coach for something that’s especially close to his heart.

Everything You Need to Know About “The Voice”

Ahead of appearing in the Knockout Rounds that start airing April 8, the country music superstar took notice of former Voice coach Kelly Clarkson singing one of his hit tunes for her “Kellyoke” segment on The Kelly Clarkson Show. When the daytime series posted her cover of his 2002 song “Somebody Like You” on X (formerly known as Twitter) on April 2, Keith couldn’t help but be blown away by how great her rendition of the track was. This led him to reply with how impressed he was by the performance … along with voicing a question about whether Kelly takes requests for future song covers.

“Kelly !!!!!! Loooooove you singing this,” he passionately wrote on X on April 3. “Hell, I love you singing anything … do you take requests?! @kellyclarkson.”

When folks caught Keith’s public thoughts about Kelly’s rendition of his song, many began pleading for this to lead to an even bigger musical moment.

“I’m thinking a duo remake of this!?! Would be a good collab…don’t you think?” one person commented on X. “She does. Let’s get a legit Keith & Kelly duet! :),” another agreed. “@KeithUrban @kellyclarkson need a collaboration w the two of u. Plz!!! TY,” a different follower implored.

While we’ll just have to wait and see if this manifestation comes to life, fans may be interested to know this isn’t the only time Kelly has performed one of Keith’s songs on daytime television. During a March 2022 episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, the host covered his 2005 track “Tonight I Wanna Cry,” proving her vocal and musical range is always something to watch.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed for a Keith and Kelly collab one day!

Reba McEntire & Kenan Thompson Face Off

Kenan Thompson showed up at the CMT Awards Wednesday night dressed up as Reba McEntire, who he has played on SNL. Then Reba walked out in the same outfit and asked, “Aren’t you embarrassed of yourself?”

“Yeah I’m embarrassed,” he replied. “I’m embarrassed that someone showed up in the same dress as me.”

“You can’t be Reba, you’re too dark,” she said.

    “Um, pardon?”

“I’m ginger with highlights,” Reba exclaimed, “And you’re a solid auburn!”

    Reba Has a Doppelganger

When CMT Music Awards host Kid Rock announced a surprise performance by the “Queen of Country Music” during Wednesday’s live broadcast, the audience certainly wasn’t expecting that “queen” to be in drag! But out came ‘Saturday Night Live’ comedian Kenan Thompson dressed as Reba McEntire, whom he has impersonated (albeit very loosely) on the show.

Fake Reba started to sing the redhead’s recent hit, ‘Consider Me Gone,’ but was interrupted by Real Reba, dressed exactly alike in a floor-length green gown.

“What are you doing?” Reba asked Kenan.

“Who the hell are you?” he replied.

“Who are you?” Reba deadpanned. “You look like Kenan Thompson, who I heard has been impersonating me on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ Aren’t you embarrassed of yourself?”

“Yeah, I’m embarrassed someone showed up in the same dress as me,” Kenan answered.

“Not the same size!” Reba fought back. “You can’t be Reba. You’re too dark … I’m ginger with highlights and you’re a solid auburn!”

Kenan has done several sketches on ‘SNL’ dressed as “Reba.” Watch one of the hilarious videos here (but parents be warned — it’s racy!). And in the wake of her cross-dressing doppelganger’s debut on the hit NBC comedy, Reba’s fans have started campaigning to score her a coveted spot hosting the show. The “Reba McEntire to Host SNL in 2010” Facebook page now has more than 2,000 fans.

Reba’s Son Shelby to Race on Eve of ACMs With Mom in the Pits

Here’s solid proof that family comes first for Reba McEntire. This Sunday’s ACM Awards co-host won’t be spending Saturday at dress fittings or rehearsals on the Las Vegas ACM stage. Instead, NASCAR officials tell The Boot that the iconic entertainer will be 1800 miles away, in Birmingham, Ala., watching son Shelby Blackstock race at Barber Motorsports Park.

Reba's Son Shelby to Race on Eve of ACMs With Mom in the Pits

Shelby, Reba’s only son with husband and manager Narvel Blackstock, is competing for the Roush Performance team on GRAND-AM Racing’s Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge circuit. He made his racing debut at just 20 years old, in the Mustang Challenge Miller Cup. Less than a year later, he drove his team into first place at his Daytona debut, in the Continental Tire Challenge Grand-Am 200. (The team, however, lost Shelby’s lead and finished in 18th place.) Just last month, the racing prodigy celebrated his 22nd birthday and a pole-winning run in the BMW Performance 200 at Daytona International Speedway.

Reba McEntire: How I Became a Racing Mom

Though he didn’t follow in Mom and Dad’s career footsteps, Shelby does have them to thank for his love of racing, which he developed at a young age. “One Christmas, my parents bought me and my niece two go-karts to ride at the house,” he recalls. “The only rule was that we could not drive in the grass — only on the driveway. The only problem with that was that at the end of the driveway, you had to turn around without getting in the grass. This was avoided by dropping your back right wheel in the dirt just enough to lose traction, while yanking the wheel left and slamming on the brake. This resulted in a 180-degree spin that kept us on the drive and off the grass.”

This Saturday, you’ll likely find Shelby’s proud parents down in the pits, wearing headsets so that they can hear the communication between their son and his teammates.

“His daddy and I are totally involved and were very supportive once we knew he had the passion to (race),” says Reba, who also showed her support by performing at the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Awards Banquet in Las Vegas last December. “I try to get to as many races as I can. As a matter of fact, I have started working the schedule of my concerts around Shelby’s race schedule.”

“They (my parents) have been extremely helpful,” Shelby says. “Because of their experience, they both help me in learning how to relate to everyone around me and be a good person. It’s been great because it lets me just focus on driving.”

Reba McEntire explained how she ended up getting a deep-fried nickname from Rex Linn

On “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Reba McEntire explained how she ended up getting a deep-fried nickname from Rex Linn.

After she, Linn, and the rest of their little entourage finished dinner during their January 2020 outing, the group decided to head to a nearby wine bar that also served food.

They let their server know that they’d already eaten, but the enterprising individual tried to tempt them with the appetizer menu. As soon as McEntire learned that tater tots were one of the offerings, she decided that she could use a little post-supper snack.

Linn apparently found her enthusiasm for the fried cylinders of grated spuds greatly amusing. “Rex said, ‘That’s your nickname from here on out, Tater Tot,’” McEntire recalled.

Linn got his own pet name while everyone was practicing social distancing during the early weeks of the pandemic.

According to McEntire, it was actually her sister, Susie McEntire-Eaton, who came up with it.

The siblings were quarantining together, so McEntire-Eaton had a front-row seat to McEntire and Linn’s long-distance courtship. On TalkShopLive, McEntire recalled her sister’s reaction to learning her nickname. “Susie said, ‘Tater Tot? Well, why don’t you just call him Sugar Tot?’ And so it stuck. So, we’re the Tots.” McEntire also revealed that she loves taters tots so much that she and Linn went to Sonic for Valentine’s Day and dined on them.

So, when’s the fast food chain going to add sugar tots to the menu?

The pair, who went public with their relationship in October 2020, grew closer after Linn called to check on McEntire after her late mother grew ill.

“We’d gotten to see each other before because we’re both on ‘Young Sheldon.’ So starting in March of 2020, we just kept talking and visiting and finally got together, see each other in June. And we’ve been pretty much inseparable ever since,” said the singer.

Is Alabama’s Asher HaVon destined for a crown on “The Voice”? The R&B singer seems to be ruling the hearts of the celebrity coaches on Season 25 of the NBC reality series, especially this week.

HaVon, 31, was featured in a preview video for Monday’s episode, dazzling all of the celebs with his performance in the Knockouts round. HaVon’s cover of Toni Braxton’s “Un-Break My Heart” was so impressive, it prompted John Legend to stand mid-song, shout “Sing, Asher!” and cheer him on.

“Asher, I just feel like your presence is so regal,” Legend said. “I was like, this is King Asher up on the stage. I’ve almost never seen an artist be able to sing that low with that much power.” (Watch Havon’s performance in the video below.)

HaVon, from Selma, is competing on “The Voice” as a member of Reba McEntire’s team, but other coaches said they’re ready to scoop him up if the opportunity arises.

“Asher, you’re just an incredible talent,” Chance the Rapper said. “You had a crazy run at the end (of the performance) that reminded me of Rance Allen. You could tap into all these different spaces because your range is so big. So, at some point, I’m gonna figure out a way to steal you.”

Legend shared similar sentiments, saying “For whoever Reba does not choose (in the Knockouts), there’s a place for you at Team Legend.”

Some explanation may be in order, if you’re not following “The Voice” closely this season. In the Knockouts round, each contestant chooses a song to perform as a solo artist in a head-to-head competition with another teammate. The winner of the Knockout moves on to a round known as the Playoffs. However, each coach is allowed to “steal” one singer who loses in the Knockouts, saving that person from elimination.

HaVon faced Tae Lewis, a country singer from North Carolina, in the Knockouts. Although both singers inspired kudos from the coaches, HaVon appears to have the edge.

“I’ll start with Asher. You exercised so much restraint in that,” said Dan Smyers of Dan & Shay. “I felt like you were doing your thing. … The runs were so intentional, so accurate.”

“It was from your heart, and it just, it went straight to our souls,” Shay Mooney said. “And it was unbelievable.” (The country duo is coaching a single team this season.)

Still, McEntire gets to decide the winner of this Knockout and — cliffhanger! — the preview video ends without showing her verdict. She offered plenty of praise to both HaVon and Lewis, who covered Cody Johnson’s “Nothin’ On You.”

“You guys give me chills, make me cry,” McEntire said. “I felt like a proud mama sitting here. You’ve both got so much soul. It comes from your toenails when you guys start singing. Asher, you open your mouth and this stuff comes out, like, where did that come from? I’m in awe.”

And, of course, Legend said he’s ready to steal either HaVon or Lewis, depending on the results of the Knockout. Viewers will find out more when “The Voice” airs at 7 p.m. CT.

Right now, we know that HaVon will be featured on Monday’s episode, but two more singers from Alabama could be featured on the two-hour program. Val T Webb of Birmingham and Ducote Talmage of Auburn also made it to the Knockouts, competing on Team Legend and Team Dan & Shay, respectively.

Alabama actually had five singers competing on “The Voice” during Season 25, but Rivers Grayson of Muscle Shoals and Corey Curtis, a Saraland resident, were eliminated on previous episodes.
