ITV The Chase pulled from schedule amid shake-up with another show also impacted

The Chase won’t be airing as usual one day next week as ITV has covered the quiz show’s typical slot in its schedule with coverage of Donald Trump’s inauguration as US President

Fans of the Chase may be surprised to discover that the show has been bumped from its usual slot next week.

The ITV quiz show, hosted by Bradley Walsh, typically airs for an hour each weekday. Each episode sees a team of four contestants take on either Shaun Wallace (The Dark Destroyer), Jenny Ryan (The Vixen), Darragh Ennis (The Menace), Mark Labbett (The Beast), Anne Hegerty (The Governess) or Paul Sinha (The Sinnerman).

The Chase however won’t be airing on Monday (January 20) evening like it usually does. Instead, during its usual time slot in the schedule, ITV viewers will be able to watch coverage of Donald Trump’s Inauguration. As reported by the Express, a two-hour live special will be hosted by ITV News broadcaster Tom Bradby from Washington, D.C. that evening as president-elect Trump is inaugurated for a second term. The former US president won Kamala Harris in the November elections and will succeed Joe Biden.

Fans will know that the Chase typically airs from 5pm to 6pm on weekdays. However, the US inauguration will affect Monday’s schedule. Deal or No Deal has also been affected by ITV’s coverage of the event. Stephen Mulhern’s show will start an hour early at 3pm, instead of its regular 4pm start.

There’s been reaction to the schedule change on X, formerly known as Twitter, recently. One person wrote in a post: “The Chase won’t be on Monday due the inauguration of the US president #TheChase.” Another said in a response to them: “And bumped deal or no deal to 3.00pm (at least a bit more notice this time around unlike the sudden change in December).” The Express reports that a third person said in a post: “The Chase is not coming on!! [fuming face emoji].”

However, fans can look forward to another episode of the Chase just a day later. The show is scheduled to return on Tuesday (January 21) from 5pm to 6pm. Deal or No Deal will air in its usual slot of 4pm to 5pm that same day.

The Chase first aired on ITV with its debut series back in 2009. Since then, there’s been more than a dozen series over the years and several spin-offs, including Beat the Chasers, which launched in 2020, have been introduced. As previously reported, an episode of the Chase that aired in September last year saw two contestants secure one of the show’s largest wins. Contestants Karen and Ian won £100,000 on the ITV show after taking on the Sinnerman in a series of quiz rounds.

BBC Gladiator fans demand major change minutes into new season as host sparks backlash

The second series of BBC’s Gladiators reboot aired tonight

Gladiators made its highly-anticipated comeback for a second series tonight however the show faced major backlash just minutes in as viewers called for a major change.

The BBC hit show saw father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh take on hosting duties yet again as they welcomed fresh contenders to go against the powerful gladiators.

Welcoming viewers to the show, Bradley started off by saying: “Welcome back to a brand-new series of Gladiators.” Turning to his son, he said: “Barnes, we are back.”

Barney continued: “Your favourite Gladiators are all back and ready but this year they are not alone. I can now tell you that throughout the series, we’re going to be revealing some brand-new Gladiators and that’s not all we are going to be introducing some new events.”

Before the action began, fans were quick to share their complaints as they claimed that the show is in much need of a presenter shake-up, throwing out claims of nepotism and a lack of gender representation.

One viewer took to X, formally known as Twitter and said: “Thought they’d add a female presenter to this year’s line-up to shake things up. Barney is great in Casualty but not brilliant on #Gladiators.”

Another fumed: “A new series of #Gladiators is excellent, but it’s unfortunate that it means Barney’s back too. The least talented of the Nepo babies.” A third asked: “Are we still annoyed by the Barney nepotism or are we over it? #Gladiators.”

Meanwhile not everyone agreed as another jumped to the stars defence and added: “Bit harsh. What more do you expect from him beyond what he is doing? I think Barney Walsh has been doing a great job with Gladiators.”

Nitro has been forced to ‘quit’ the new series
Elsewhere in the show, it was revealed that Nitro, one of the most popular of the new Gladiators, has been forced to ‘quit’ the new series of the hit show after suffering a nasty injury.

Viewers were quick to share their reaction to the devastating news as one said: “Awww Nitro is out this season i like him, Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (his actual name) has always got such a good attitude #gladiators.”

Another wrote: “What a shame about #Nitro @HarryAA100m, my favourite! One of the few glads that doesn’t pointlessly fume when losing. Speedy recovery.”

Meanwhile one added: “Gutted Nitro won’t be competing on Gladiators, he’s a family favourite! #Gladiators.”

Exclusive: Strictly winner Chris McCausland skips tour as fans question his absence

Strictly Come Dancing winner Chris McCausland has become the first BBC show champion to skip the programme’s UK tour in favour of his own career venture

Strictly Come Dancing’s Chris McCausland has become the first winner to skip the show’s UK tour, as he performed his own comedy show just miles away from the BBC dance show’s first night in Birmingham.

The 47-year-old comedian wowed audiences on Strictly Come Dancing as his pro partner, Dianne Buswell, helped him become the first blind contestant to win the Glitterball Trophy. While it is usual for the winner to then head the UK tour of Strictly, Chris has decided to continue his stand-up comedy tour rather than cancel dates to perform in the dance show. Chris has explained previously: “I’m afraid I will not be able to do the Strictly tour. My own tour was meant to be on the road in September and a lot of dates were moved to Jan and Feb to accommodate doing #Strictly. It’s unfortunate as it’s been so much fun, but my own dates can’t be moved for a second time.”

As Strictly opened its tour in Birmingham, Chris was just miles away in the West Midlands, performing at the Walsall Arena, where the audience was lapping up his humour. In exclusive photos, Chris was seen smiling and confidently performing his stand-up set while dressed in a grey suit and white T-shirt.

While Chris isn’t joining the tour, his dance partner Dianne is keeping a tradition going, which they started while starring on Strictly. Sharing a video on Instagram, Dianne is seen playing a game she used to play with Chris, ahead of the tour kick-off.

Chris would take different KitKats and get her to guess the flavour just by taste and smell. With Chris back on the road doing stand-up, Dianne stepped into Chris’ shoes and got her dad, Mark, to take the place of the guesser. Getting into the spirit, Chris jokingly said that she could expect to see him in court.

Unfortunately, Mark wasn’t as skilled at the game as Dianne and Chris, and it took multiple rounds of guessing and clues for him to figure out that the flavour was cookies and cream. Dianne offered all sorts of prizes, eventually landing on a flight back to Australia for her parents.

“TheChristmasspecial of guess the flavour ! Don’t worry production manager @chrismccauslandcomedy has given the all clear to go ahead with the episode without him ! Our special guest is the one and only MARK @mark.3802,” she captioned the video.

While Dianne joked in her caption that gamesmaster Chris had given permission for them to use his game, the comedian quickly snapped back in the comments: “Wow. I’m speaking to my lawyers. You must’ve really wanted him back on that flight to keep it going that long,” he joked alongside a laughing emoji.

“My dad makes me look like the Einstein of Kit Kat tasting!” Dianne responded.

With the first night of the Strictly tour under her belt, Dianna celebrated by posting a snap on her Instagram Story of her performing on stage. She captioned the snap: “Ok, that’s enough for tonight. Good night. Thank you to everybody who came to the show tonight and see you soon if you are coming along.”

JB Gill’s daughter rushed to hospital as he kicks off Strictly Come Dancing tour

JB Gill’s wife Chloe Tangney revealed their daughter Chiara was ‘turning the corner’ after rushing her to A&E while her JLS husband was away on the Strictly Come Dancing tour

JB Gill’s wife, Chloe Tangney, revealed that their young daughter had experienced a scary health crisis – but was on the mend.

JLS star JB, 38, shares two children with Chloe: son Ace, 10, and daughter, six. On Instagram, Chloe shared photos of Chiara both in hospital and recovering at home. In the first photo, the mother of two captured her daughter’s hand, covered in bandages and attached to a drip. Next, the young girl was captured in Bluey pyjamas on a sofa back at home, with a medic looking after her.

“When you get that gut feeling you can’t shift, this is your reminder to ALWAYS listen to it! I ended up taking Kiki to A&E a few days ago as I wasn’t happy with her eye, she didn’t have a stye she ended up having Periorbital Cellulitis and needing IV Anti-biotics straight away to get it under control,” Chloe revealed.

The former dancer added: “She’s finally on the mend and turning the corner, I can’t thank all the doctors and nurses in the Pedeatictis department at @kingscollegehospital and hospital at home team, Rachael & Kelly enough for being so lovely to her and looking after her your job is invaluable and we appreciate you all so much!

“Thank you to the NHS you really are living angels!! ‘#nhsheroes #appreciation #grateful.”

JB commented: “Baby girl… Love you,” while Rochelle Hume added: “Love you baby girl,” along with a red heart emoji.

Francesca Banjo shared: “Trust your gut always, Get well soon baby girl xx,” with Melvin Odoom writing: “Sending love and hugs”

Children’s TV show Bluey noticed Chiara’s pyjamas, and wished: “Sending Kiki big Heeler hugs.” Chloe replied: “Thank you Bluey. Getting this message has made her whole day.”While Chloe thankfully noticed her daughter’s health crisis, JB is away on the Strictly Come Dancing tour. In a recent interview with the Mail Online, he gushed over his wife and her understanding of his commitment to the show. He said: “To be honest, I probably have the best wife that you could have, for any contestant doing this show, because she comes from that world.

“And although she wasn’t a ballroom dancer, we both understand what goes into it. We know that it’s not easy and it’s going to be difficult. She gets it, she’s been on tours herself. She’s obviously had to partner with other people, that’s just part of the world. So she’s very excited for me.”

Chloe and JB met when she became a backup dancer for JLS, and started dating in 2008. After years of dating, the couple tied the knot in 2014 in a gorgeous ceremony, described by JB as “the best day of my life.” The ceremony was held on the Scottish Island of Bute, with JLS bandmates Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes and Oritse Williams all present among other stars and loved ones.

  • King Charles hit with disappointing news ahead of Prince Harry’s return to UK

King Charles hit with disappointing news ahead of Prince Harry’s return to UK

The King and the rest of the royal family received some disappointing personal news this week – as Prince Harry gears up for his return to the UK next month

Prince Harry will reportedly turn down his father’s offer to stay at Buckingham Palace when he returns to the UK next month, in what is being seen as a form of “protest” against the royal family.

And the monarch is now facing further personal disappointment – albeit in a very different way. The Firm’s beloved family-run greengrocer Partridges has announced it is closing its flagship shop in Chelsea after 53 years.

The greengrocers, which was awarded a Royal Warrant by Queen Elizabeth in 1994 and was granted another by the King just a few weeks ago, has supplied goods to the royal family for decades.

John Shepherd, who launched the company with his late brother Sir Richard Shepherd, said: “We are very sad to be leaving Chelsea after an incredible 53 years serving local residents. Although our Chelsea chapter is coming to an end, we are looking forward to building Partridges in smaller and more sustainable shop formats across London.

“We are very proud to have recently achieved carbon neutrality for both our Chelsea and Gloucester Road stores. We have received a new Royal Warrant from King Charles and have supported several hundred small artisan businesses by creating and curating the fine food market on Duke of York Square on nearly 1,000 Saturdays. We send all the traders our very best wishes for the future.”

He continued: “Partridges has also been a force for good in the local community, supporting many local charities and good causes and raising over £30,000 for the Children’s Surgery Foundation. At the heart of our success, though, lies our experienced and knowledgeable team of staff, whom we thank enormously for all their years of service.

“We hope that this is not goodbye and that many of our current customers will venture over to Gloucester Road to visit us there.” The company still has a shop on Gloucester Road, and a new shop will be opening in 2025, HELLO! reports.

It comes just weeks before Prince Harry will travel to London alone in order to appear before the High Court for his ongoing trial against News Group Newspapers (NGN). It’s understood that wife Meghan Markle will remain at their Montecito home with their two children, as she has done on previous occasions.

Given Harry’s fractured relationship with the royals, it’s not known if he will reunite with any members of his family during his trip in London. Prince William is said to have completely cut ties with his younger brother, while King Charles was ‘too busy’ to see Harry during his visit in London in May 2024.

The Duke has only made a handful of trips back to the UK in recent years, attending the funeral of Prince Philip and the late Queen, and briefly visiting Charles after his cancer diagnosis.

  • Ten bombshells as Harry and Meghan savaged by Vanity Fair – from staff in therapy to ‘reparenting’

Ten bombshells as Harry and Meghan savaged by Vanity Fair – from staff in therapy to ‘reparenting’

The Sussexes moved away from the UK and Royal Family five years ago for a new life abroad and they have now had a stinging article highlighting 10 ways their move went wrong

Prince Harry and Meghan’s life in the US has been blasted with 10 revelations by Vanity Fair. The magazine has delved into the past five years since they took the step to walk away from the Royal Family and start a new life abroad. Since then Harry has been critical of his life as a royal and been keen to open up about his experiences for interviews and documentaries.

The Sussexes signed major deals with Netflix and Spotify but many have been left asking what they will do to make money once their tales about the Royal Family run out. Especially contentious was Harry’s memoir Spare where he told of William attacking him physically and Meghan left crying after a run-in with the Princess of Wales. The Spotify deal only led to one podcast, called Meghan’s Archetypes where she discussed female stereotypes, before it was cancelled by mutual consent. And here are 10 key moments where the Sussexes were blasted for their behaviour and decision making.

Staff working with Meghan ended up in therapy

Allegations of bullying by Meghan towards staff, which she strenuously has denied, were brought up again by the magazine. It referred to two unnamed sources and said that a colleague took a leave of absence after working on Archetypes – before leaving altogether from Gimlet.

Others were said to have taken “extended breaks from work to escape scrutiny, exiting their job, or undergoing long-term therapy after working with Meghan”.

    Local villains

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex bought their mansion in Montecito in Santa Barbara County back in 2020, after announcing they would step down from official royal duties. But it doesn’t appear as though they have won over all the residents with one local saying that they are known as “the prince and the starlet”

They have also reportedly become known as ‘local villains’ who have enticed people who are not from the area to visit. Apparently it is also now very difficult to get a walk in booking at Lucky’s, a steakhouse that the Sussexes have visited.

It is claimed that Harry underestimated the impact of Spare

    Archetypes was not Meghan’s idea

The Sussexes’ creation Archetypes did not originally come from them and was the idea of an employee, a source has also claimed. But it was also pointed out that the person didn’t have any of the intellectual property. It is also alleged that Archewell Audio took so long to handle production that Spotify’s studio Gimlet had to be brought in.

    Harry is ‘reparented’

Meghan has a “caregiver and facilitator” role where she is the one who “makes things happen”, claimed a source who also told how Harry had changed during his relationship with Meghan. It was claimed that he used to be more keen and would look to engage with the media, with the insider adding: “I don’t want to be like, oh, it’s an Oedipus thing or whatever, but it kind of feels like she’s reparenting him in a way.”

Impact of Spare underestimated by Harry

Harry was unaware of the impact his memoir Spare would have, a source told Vanity Fair. Its publication came right at the middle of the Sussexes’ crisis with the Royal Family and yet he didn’t see what would happen after his book was published, it was claimed, and especially the “power of the written word”.

    ‘Disingenuous’

Another local did not hold back as they said the Sussexes were the “most entitled, disingenuous people on the planet”. And like many other critics they said how the couple claimed they left the UK to avoid media scrutiny but appear to constantly court the media in the US.

    Curtseying for the Queen

Fashion commentator Tom Fitzgerald told Vanity Fair he did not believe that Meghan would not know about curtseying for the Queen. He said he didn’t find it “particularly believable” that she “went into meeting the royal family completely cold, with no research whatsoever”. And he based this on Meghan’s personality and the way that she plans ahead.

Meghan’s brand American Riviera Orchard was also criticised in the article which said it is in fact Santa Barbara which is known as the American Riviera and it referred to people in Montecito as saying they had never heard their area known as it. A resident said: ‘It’s such a kind of hucksterism,” and another stated: “It’s just finding every way she can to monetise something.”

    ‘Lacking ideas’

The Sussexes appeared to have plenty of options when they arrived in the United States to make money with Netflix and Spotify but they failed to make successful content, it is claimed in the article. A former employee said the couple “wanted a big theme that would explain the world, but they had no ideas”.

    Harry’s disinterest with Spotify project

A former Spotify staffer said Harry was “challenging to engage with” and on an occasion when the couple were interviewing someone for a job he gave off the air of “why should I do this”. It led the employee to think: “Didn’t Spotify pay you a lot of money to do this?” It was also suggested that Harry would prefer not to have to make money and leave it to Meghan.

  • Sad reason Prince Harry’s children won’t travel to UK with him next month

Sad reason Prince Harry’s children won’t travel to UK with him next month

The Duke of Sussex is due to fly back to London at the end of February – and he will once again travel alone, with Meghan Markle and their children set to remain in California

Prince Harry is set to travel to the UK on his own next month, with his family – wife Meghan Markle and their two children – remaining at their home in the US.

Archie, five, and Lilibet, three, have not visited Harry’s home country since 2022, when the Sussexes returned to celebrate the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. It’s thought to be the only time King Charles has met his youngest granddaughter.

And that doesn’t look set to change anytime soon, with a friend of Harry’s revealing that he still fears for his family’s safety in the UK. The insider told HELLO!: “Safe visits would enable his children to know his home country and enable him to better support his charities.”

When Prince Harry stepped back from being a working royal and moved to the US, he was no longer automatically provided with the same level of police protection given to the Royal Family, and instead has his security decided on a case-by-case basis, in the same way as other high-profile visitors to the UK.

The dispute has contributed to the already strained relationship between the Duke and his family. According to Harry’s friends, his calls to his father regarding the security issue have gone “unanswered”, but sources close to the King have said that it would be “wholly inappropriate” for him to intervene.

In 2023, Harry’s lawyers read out an excerpt from a written witness statement regarding his relocation to the US. It read in part: “The UK is my home. The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live at the moment in the US.

“That cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil. I cannot put my wife in danger like that and, given my experiences in life, I am reluctant to unnecessarily put myself in harm’s way too.”

Harry is due to return to London to give evidence in the High Court in his case against News Group Newspapers at the end of February.

  • Late Queen was ‘underwhelmed’ in disappointing first encounter with Sophie Wessex

Late Queen was ‘underwhelmed’ in disappointing first encounter with Sophie Wessex

Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh had a very close bond with the late Queen, having lost her own mother Mary Rhys-Jones in 2005. But they didn’t share an immediate connection…

The late Queen had a very special relationship with Duchess Sophie, but their first meet didn’t necessarily go to plan.

The monarch is said to have ‘trusted’ and ‘relied’ on Sophie to a greater extent than many others in her inner circle, and reportedly saw her as ‘more like a daughter’ than a daughter-in-law.

But that wasn’t always the case. According to one royal expert, the Queen was underwhelmed by Sophie during one of their first encounters in Windsor in 1993, during Edward and Sophie’s early days of courtship.

Sophie, who had a successful career in public relations, came from a solid middle-class background — her father, Christopher Rhys-Jones, was a tyre company executive and her late mother, Mary, a secretary. As such, Sophie was not the typical blue-blooded girlfriend that princes brought home.

Ingrid Seward told the Times: “Sophie wasn’t from that world. She’d never encountered anything like the royal family and was very nervous, shy and tongue-tied when she first met the Queen, who as a result thought she was a bit dull and told a friend: ‘You wouldn’t notice her in a crowd.’

“But the more she saw of her, the more she liked her, especially as she made a big effort with Prince Philip, learning to ride, taking up carriage driving. The Queen always liked people who could deal with her husband. Sophie might be low-key but she’s a lot smarter than people give her credit for.”

The Queen was also said to have respected Sophie and Edward’s decision not to use the HRH title for their children. They can decide to use them from the age of 18, but Sophie previously said she thought this was “highly unlikely”. Daughter Lady Louise has not opted to use the title and son James is not expected to when he turns 18 in December.

Sophie also previously described how they tried to maintain as “normal” a home life as possible. “[The children] go to friends for sleepovers and parties,” she said. “At weekends we do lots of dog walking and stay with friends. I guess not everyone’s grandparents live in a castle, but where you are going is not the important part, or who they are.”

Edward and Sophie reportedly first met in the late 1980s while he was dating one of her friends. A few years later, in 1993, the pair crossed paths while Sophie was at a promotion shoot for the Prince Edward Summer Challenge.

The pair started dating shortly afterwards but it would be another five years before the prince popped the question. He got down on one knee while on holiday in the Bahamas, in December 1998, presenting Sophie with a two-carat oval diamond flanked by two heart-shaped gemstones set in 18-carat white gold.

The couple tied the knot in 1999 – and their successful marriage was a source of personal joy for the Queen; Edward is the only one of her four children to have not divorced. Just last year the Duke and Duchess celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary.

  • Unlikely royal splashes out the most on clothes and it’s not Kate or Meghan

Unlikely royal splashes out the most on clothes and it’s not Kate or Meghan

One female member of the Royal Family is reported to have spent over £100k on clothes in the last year – and despite their fashion icon status, it isn’t Kate or Meghan

If there’s one thing that royal fans have obsessed over for decades, it’s the fashion choices of female members of the monarchy.

From high-fashion custom gowns at glitzy state events and smart business casual looks at charitable engagements, all the way to down-to-earth outfits that they opt for when they’re taking part in an activity that requires like being a little bit more hands-on or informal – whatever the royal women wear always grabs a lot of attention.

While Princess Kate and Meghan Markle are probably the most high-profile fashion icons in the current generation of royal women, there was one member of the Royal Family who reportedly outspent them last year when it came to their looks – Duchess Sophie of Edinburgh.

The Mail Online reports that Duchess Sophie, 60, “spent” £135,863 on her fashion choices in the last year, the most out of any of the British royals, and fourth of the royal women worldwide.

Sophie – the wife of Prince Edward, 60, and mother of Lady Louise Windsor, 21, and James, Earl of Wessex, 17 – has long been known for her chic and timeless looks, and this has only elevated since King Charles bestowed the title of Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh on her and Edward in 2023. Some commentators and royal fans have noted that it even seems like Sophie has been inspired by some of Kate’s stand-out looks.

Generally, Sophie opts for a lot of floral prints and timeless a-line shapes in stunning fabrics, creating a style overall that reflects the formality of her royal role, while still communicating her own personal style.

Of the British royals, Zara Tindall came in next for her fashion bill in 2024, reportedly spending £107,800.96 on her wardrobe in the last calendar year – this has been calculated using the pieces identified that the royals wore in public. Meghan came in third at £107,800.96 for her 2024 looks, with an average spend of £993.37 per piece – per UFO No More.

Princess Beatrice is reported to have worn looks totalling £44,879.81 last year – coming in as fourth of the British royals on the list, this is a major jump down from the looks Meghan, Zara, and Sophie were wearing.

Her sister, Princess Eugenie’s wardrobe is said to have set her back £27,846.41 on 39 new pieces that she was spotted wearing, and Kate came in last at £10,927.65 over 16 new pieces.

However, given the Princess of Wales took a major break from public life last year and retreated away from the spotlight as she underwent a course of preventative chemotherapy – the figure is likely lower due to the fact she didn’t appear in public that much. Per piece, Kate averaged £993.21, almost exactly the same as her sister-in-law Meghan, the future Queen’s wardrobe as calculated as costing £93,328.03 altogether.

The Masked Singer fans think Kingfisher comedy and TV icon Harry Hill
It comes as viewers previously speculated that Paul Whitehouse might be behind the mask of Kingfisher. During a recent appearance on ITV Lorraine show, the TV host couldn’t resist confronting the rumours head-on with Paul.

At the time, Paul said: “If I say ‘yes’, you won’t believe me and if I say ‘no’ you won’t believe me so..”

Paul later revealed who he suspected had been behind the mask, suggesting they were trying to “cleverly” frame him.

He informed the host: “Whoever has done it, Harry Hill, has very cleverly thrown the focus to me.” Lorraine’s interest was piqued as she replied: “Ohh you think it might be Harry Hill?”

Recognising his potential faux pas, Paul started to retract: “No, I mean there’s rumours flying around.”
