Coronation Street airs surprise double exit in Daisy Midgeley’s final storyline

ITV soap Coronation Street is set to air Daisy Midgeley’s exit storyline in upcoming scenes, as she is set to leave Weatherfield after the actress Charlotte Jordan quit her role

Coronation Street’s Daisy Midgeley has made a new enemy just days before she leaves the Cobbles. Fan favourite Charlotte Jordan has quit her role on the ITV soap after several years playing Daisy.

In scenes airing this evening, Daisy learned a horrifying truth after what her mum had really been doing. She found out that mum Christina had been working alongside Dom and actually using her to try and get Jenny’s money for herself.

When Daisy had learned what Christina had been doing, she made a comment to Jenny to warn her of what was happening behind their backs and that Christina and Dom had been working together.

Learning the truth, Jenny soon also realised what Dom was hiding and his investment scheme was exposed as a hoax and she realised it was all a big part of a Christina’s plan and Don was a conman.

Jenny shopped Christina to the police and she was arrested – but Jenny has yet to find out Daisy has been involved in all of this too. With Daisy still planning to leave, will she get away with what she’s done?

Charlotte previously confessed she was “medically dehydrated” after crying so much from filming her final scenes.

“I’m not a big crier. But let me tell you, I cried on and off for about four hours straight. My last scene was with the beautiful Rob Mallard, and we were meant to cry in the scene – but we were both dry as a bone. As soon as they yelled our final cut, we both burst into tears. Typical,” she said as she discussed her final scenes.

“The Corrie gang made it so special for me. The canteen made me my favourite lunch – which made me cry. The art department drew me a beautiful card – which made me cry. I would look over to Channique or Julia or Sally Ann Matthews during our last lunch break and see them crying – which made me cry. I think I was medically dehydrated by the end of the day.”

Charlotte said her final scenes are “bittersweet” as she discussed her exit from the show.

She added: “I’m feeling really grateful for my years on the show and the people I’ve gotten to work with. Kate [Brooks] has been so supportive about me wanting to go back out into the audition circuit and very generous with Daisy’s exit story, as she really wanted to do the character justice. And I can’t tell you how much fun the other cast members and I had playing out this last hurrah.”

Olly Murs’ wife has hit out at those criticising the singer’s amazing body transformation. The former X Factor star, 40, showed off his ripped new physique recently after fans said he had activated “beast mode”.

However, despite an influx of positivity on his epic change, some followers revealed they preferred him with his “dad bod”. And the negativity didn’t sit well with his wife, Amelia.

She took to her Instagram Stories to lament the cruel bodyshaming after her husband shared his disappointment at remarks on his appearance. Olly shared an article in which a before and after picture was shared alongside a headline saying women preferred his “huggable dad bod”.

Amelia fumed: “Wow I didn’t release body shaming was still a thing in 2025. And at this public level?! My gosh could you IMAGINE if this headline belonged to a female. But no, my husband’s got to just take this one on the chin.”

She continued to rage: “How dare you get so fit for your tour, so that you can give your fans the best show, be full of energy and a true showman.”

Amelia added she loves her husband no matter what he looks like, but admitted she will “forever be celebrating” his dedication to his transformation. She added: “You’re in such a great place mentally as well as physically so don’t let this garbage rain on your parade.”

The star revealed in his own post that his fitness journey had been for “many personal reasons” and he never wanted to spark a debate. He did, however, thank those who had been kinder with their words.

Among those sharing their support was former Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt. She told Olly: “Honestly you can’t do right for doing wrong!! You’re healthy!! Your happy! Sod anyone else x”

Olly’s dramatic 12 week transformation has seen him become “super disciplined in every aspect of his life”. As he initially shared his new look, he captioned his upload: “Tour starts Thursday… I’m pumped,” alongside a tensed bicep emoji and a face pulling a tongue. The comment section of his uploaded was soon flooded with compliments.

The new image comes Olly and Amelia get ready to welcome their second child to the world. Sharing the sweet pregnancy news, Olly took to social media to share a black and white video of himself, Amelia and their daughter Madison, one, walking alongside a path. He was seen lifting his daughter and putting her on his shoulders, with the words “Big Sis” seen on the back of her top.

He captioned the upload: “We’re so egg-cited to share this..… Another Baby Murs on the way.”

To confirm the news, Amelia revealed a set of baby scans. The announcement came just days after the couple had celebrated Madison’s first birthday. To mark the occasion, they posted a series of heartwarming photos of the big day.

Spice Girls ‘finally reunite as group secretly plans world tour without one star’

The Spice Girls are set to reunite for their 30th anniversary next year and head on a world tour, yet one member has ruled themselves out according to reports

The Spice Girl reunion could soon be happening as the iconic girl group celebrate their 30th anniversary, according to reports. However, one member of the group will not be taking part.

Band guru Simon Fuller is reportedly meeting with Geri Horner this week to secure a deal. Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C are considering a world tour next year with Geri, however Victoria Beckham has “90 percent” ruled herself out. Geri and Simon are said to be back in touch and meeting in Miami in just a matter of days. Victoria has reportedly told pals she isn’t considering going back to her music roots.

“There have been rumours swirling for months, but Geri has always been too busy and had other things on, preventing her from saying Yes,” a source told the Sun. “Nothing is yet confirmed but Geri and Simon are back in touch with a myriad of exciting ideas.”

They added: “Unfortunately Victoria has pretty much ruled herself out, but there is still a world in which she could do some sort of avatar appearance or a special one-off thing.”

Geri will be in Miami to support her F1 boss husband Christian Horner at the Grand Prix, with Simon invited. The source claimed having Simon on board will take a tour “to the next level”. Are you pleased there are plans for a Spice Girls reunion? Take our poll below. If you can’t see it, click here

Just last month Geri confirmed she is on board to reform the band after Mel B shared her own enthusiasm for a tour. Speaking in a new interview Geri said: “My hope is we come back together as a collective.

“It’s more respectful to come as one. There will be something. We’ll come as one. We love each other. I love them, I care about them, we want the best for each other.

Talking to The Times she added: “We shared something so monumental. We’ve always believed in each other, had trust in each other, which is beautiful.”

Geri also confirmed that the girls have a group chat – but wouldn’t divulge what it is called. Mel C also recently hinted that the Spice Girls could do something to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of their debut album, Spice, in 2026.

The girls toured together in 2020 but only as a foursome as Victoria did not take part. Mel C told Rebecca Judd on Apple Music 1: “There has to be something befitting of 30 years since Wannabe.

“Once a Spice Girl, always a Spice Girl. We all feel like that, but we now are getting together because we know if we’re going to do anything, we have to start planning things to get things right.

“We have to start making the plans right now and putting them into action. So fingers crossed.” She added: “I think me and Mel B are probably going to be going in there all guns blazing, ‘Come on! It’s time!’”

Next year, the group will celebrate three decades since they burst onto the music scene and changed history by becoming one of the biggest selling girl-groups of all time.

Since their decision to disband in 2000, they have reunited on several occasions – including in 2007, 2012 for the London Olympic Games and in 2018 to tour across the UK.

Victoria last performed with the group at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics. She didn’t take part in the 25th anniversary celebrations as a source told Daily Star at the time: “Victoria will always be a Spice Girl and loves the girls very much but due to other commitments would not be able to go on tour with them.”

She did, however, reunite the iconic band at her 50th birthday last year. They sent fans into a frenzy when they came together to sing their hit Stop at Victoria’s star-studded bash

It sparked more speculation Victoria would reunite with her bandmates one day, yet she wanted to set the record straight. She told Gwyneth Paltrow last year: “So often people say ‘Are you going to go back on tour?’

“I am not going to go back on tour, on the record. But I loved that time, and I’m so thankful, I love the girls and I’m so appreciative of the fans.”

  • Brooklyn Beckham and wife Nicola ‘ready to reunite with family’ for dad David amid feud rumours

David Beckham has reportedly been rocked by the rift between his sons Brooklyn and Romeo as his eldest child prepares to reunite with his family in a matter of days

Brooklyn Beckham is ready to reunite with his famous family as they attempt to put their rumoured feud to bed. The 26-year-old and his model wife Nicola Peltz, 30, are expected to join the Beckham clan at dad David’s 50th birthday bash.

With his milestone birthday looming, football icon David is keen for his family to come together and mend the rift between his sons Brooklyn and Romeo. The tight knit family have been rocked by a reported divide that has left David to come up with a grand plan the pair surely won’t be able to resist. He is expected to bring his sons together at triple-Michelin starred restaurant Core in west London next month. Amid the rumours of an upcoming family reunion, it seems Brooklyn is on board.

He has been spotted back in London as he joined a meal at the Mountain Restaurant in Soho with Nicola. Brooklyn’s pal Dan Martensen posted a snap of him in the capital, which could be a clear hint he is ready to join his family at David’s party.

It will be the first time the family have been together following the multiple reported snubs. Things all reportedly came to blows for the Beckham clan when Romeo introduced his new girlfriend Kim Turnbull to the family.

Unfortunately for Romeo, older brother Brooklyn has a past with Kim as they used to be super close when she dated pal Rocco Ritchie. Brooklyn and Nicola are said to not be keen on Kim and have shown their feelings by snubbing family events.

David and Victoria’s eldest son failed to attend the England ace’s pre-birthday bash in Miami last month, which included guests such as football legend Lionel Messi and former supermodel Cindy Crawford.

The rest of the family were also there to celebrate, including Brooklyn’s siblings Cruz and Harper. Speculation mounted once again when neither Brooklyn or Nicola publicly wished Victoria a happy 51st birthday.

In another twist, neither Victoria or David, commented on Brooklyn and Nicola’s third wedding anniversary. And according to reports, Cruz and Romeo failed to congratulate the couple as well.

Amid the fractious relationships in the Beckham family, David is said to have come up with a masterplan to get his sons back together again.

“David is going all out for his 50th,” a source told the Sun. “Brooklyn and Nicola are on the list, as well as Romeo, Cruz and Harper, and his and Victoria’s parents – it’s a proper family affair.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source explained the stresses on David as he planned his event. They said : “Family is everything to him. He is a working class boy who grew up with strong connections to his grandparents and parents, and he loves nothing more than to see his boys, and Harper, being so close.

“While the location will be perfect and stunning, what he wants most is for his family to be around him, happily getting along. Right now, though, things aren’t great. All everyone around them hopes is that they can mend any issues in time for the big day – for David.”

  • Spice Girls’ Geri Horner and Mel B’s worst fight ever – “She will hate me for this”

Spice Girls’ Geri Horner and Mel B’s worst fight ever – “She will hate me for this”

Geri Horner and Mel B’s turbulent relationship has previously been left hanging in the balance after a string of stormy rows between the Spice Girls’ two biggest personalities

A much-teased Spice Girls reunion tour looks set to be tentatively back on once again, with four stars agreeing to load up the Spice Bus once again. However, there is one member who won’t be there with Victoria Beckham said to have had a frosty response to the talks.

Sadly for fans, Posh Spice cannot bring herself to take part in the comeback to make the pop group’s 30th anniversary. A reunion has been much hyped over the years with the band previously getting together in 2007 with Victoria and again in 2019 without her.

This time it’s Geri Horner who is apparently steering the ship and will be meeting band guru Simon Fuller in Miami to begin talks.

Last night a source said: “There have been rumours swirling for months, but Geri has always been too busy and had other things on, preventing her from saying Yes. Nothing is yet confirmed but Geri and Simon are back in touch with a myriad of exciting ideas.”

The tour will see the Geri reunite with Mel B, Mel C and Emma Bunton on stage – putting behind them a series of stormy rows – not least between two of the group’s most outspoken members Geri and Mel B.

The duo only just managed to salvage their friendship after Mel sensationally revealed that she and Geri had a secret lesbian fling at the height of the band’s fame.

Mel said Geri would ‘kill her’ for the accusation, but admitted she, Geri and all the Spices had ‘fought like cats and dogs’ during their time in the spotlight – but it was Geri with whom things got really personal.

We take a look back at their twenty year long feud…

    Geri’s departure from the band

In the band’s 90s heyday, rumours of infighting between Mel, Geri and bandmates Victoria, Emma and Mel C were rife.

Less than two years after their debut single Wannabe hit the top spot, Geri announced she’d had enough and confirmed her departure from the group in May 1998 leaving fans devastated.

Her decision to leave at the peak of the band’s fame and right before a huge US tour was never going to be well received, but her decision to quit on Mel’s birthday really touched a nerve.

Mel was crushed that Geri left the band on her birthday without telling her first(Image: Getty Images)

“When Geri left the group, it was bad,” Mel said of their relationship in a TV interview. “She left on my birthday and didn’t tell anybody. She didn’t show up. We had the American part of the tour to continue,” she fumed.

    Reunion tour clashes

The band’s first attempt at a reunion in 2007 brought up problems before the girls had even picked up a microphone.

As the fivesome got together for a London press conference to announce news of their tour, it was decided they’d all step out matching in head to toe black as a show of togetherness. Are you pleased there are plans for a Spice Girls reunion? Take our poll below. If you can’t see it, click here

As well as looking striking and dramatic the styling would also demonstrate how united they were as grown women, after previously being known for dressing as their separate Spice characters. But on the day, Mel B could not resist rebelling, adding a shiny, bright red skirt to her outfit in the hope that all eyes would be on her.

    (Image: Getty Images)

But, as Mel has learned so many times before and since, Never Underestimate The Halliwell – particularly when it comes to attention seeking.

Geri rocked up in a ultra feminine white flowing floral maxi dress – worlds away from the chic black her bandmates has agreed to. She totally stole the show and had to be plonked front and centre in all of all the photographs from the press launch.

Despite the rather awkward start to proceedings, all five Spices – including Victoria – went ahead with the tour – performing in America and the UK before the dates were sensationally cut short in February 2008.

The first reunion tour had to be cut short(Image: REX/Shutterstock)

The band cancelled gigs in Sydney, Beijing, Cape Town and Buenos Aires. At the time the girls blamed “family and personal commitments” for the sudden change of plan.

But it’s thought that even before the shows started the infighting of days past made an ugly appearance.

“I wasn’t in a very good space with my marriage and I didn’t feel I could go on any more, living in this fake world,” Mel B said last year. She even took full responsibility, saying: “It was my fault, so I was determined to get us back together and I’m still determined it will be five at one point.”

When asked in a recent radio interview how long their 2019 tour was expected to be, Geri responded with a barbed jibe at her bandmate.

“Let’s see if Mel B behaves herself and then we’ll see,” she warned. Yikes.

    Creative differences reopen old wounds

Over ten years later the Spice Girls were back together once again in 2019 for another reunion tour – this time without Posh.

According to sources, Mel B and Geri began bickering about the creative direction from day one.

Mel wanted to re-market herself as an edgy and raunchy Rita Ora-esque performer, while Geri hoped the get together would have a wholesome, family vibe reflecting how they’ve grown as mothers.

An insider told The Sun: “The gigs will go ahead whatever happens, but those two couldn’t be more divided and both see themselves as the boss. Everyone involved is braced for some epic arguments once they’re back together.”

Mel is reportedly wanting the girls’ to embrace their raunchy sides on the new tour(Image: Getty)

While another source close to the group claimed that married mother-of-two Geri was not happy with the costumes Mel is gunning for – deeming them ‘too tarty’ for her tastes.

Geri is reportedly wanting to move on from her Ginger Spice alter ego and has insisted Mel should ‘grow up’ and ‘learn to keep her mouth shut occasionally,” it’s been reported.

Geri, who famously only wears white now, adapted all of her stage costumes – including her infamous Union Jack dress – to fit her new ‘lady of the manor’ aesthetic’.

    (Image: ITV)

    Lesbian Sex allegations

The awkward start of the 2007 reunion tour pales in comparison to the bombshell Mel B unleashed just weeks before the start of their comeback tour.

Ahead of the opening night in Dublin on May 24, Mel appeared on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories ITV show where she gave the delighted host one hell of an exclusive.

Mel told that she and Geri once enjoyed a night of passion in their Spice Girls heyday – which they ‘giggled’ about afterwards.

A grinning Mel admitted to a lesbian romp with Ginger Spice – before squirming that Geri and her husband Christian Horner were going to ‘kill her’ now. “She is going to hate me for this because she is all posh in a country house but it wasn’t a ‘thing’, it just happened, we just giggled at it and that was it.

    (Image: Instagram)

“We were best friends. It just happened.”

Piers then revealed on Good Morning Britain how after the cameras stopped rolling Mel rushed off to phone her former rival to warn her about what she’d let slip.

Christina Aguilera has surprised her fans with her new appearance as they say she is aging backwards. The pop star, 44, showed off her new style as she took part in a photoshoot.

She appeared to reference her early career as she rocked a dark smokey eye while rocking a gold mini dress. Christina’s blonde locks were backcombed and tousled as she held them up in her hands. The Lady Marmalade hitmaker shared a behind the scenes look at the shoot, which showed her styling many different looks. She wrote: “work & play,” alongside the post as she gave fans a tease at the upcoming photos.

Fans gushed over Christina as they said she was going back to her early days(Image: Instagram/xtina)

Her followers were quick to compliment the star, with many referencing how she appears to not have aged a day. One said: “Oh she’s a MODEL, she looks like Christina Aguilera 1999.”

Another added: “HOW IS SHE BENJAMIN BUTTONING? I’ve always been such a huge Christina fan and it’s been so nice to see her look so happy, healthy and THRIVING lately and this shoot is SO GORGEOUS.”

Someone else commented: Queen looking freshhh.” A fourth wrote: “Queen aged so well.” Another gushed: “Flawless, ageless, eternal Queen.”

Christina has long been open about her body image as a public figure. During the pandemic, she dropped 40 pounds (18 kgs) through a combination of diet, exercise and lifestyle changes.

However, the Genie in a Bottle singer revealed she has not always been as body-confident as she is today. In 2021, the five-time Grammy winner opened up about the pressures she felt about her appearance during the 90s.

Speaking to Health Magazine, she admitted: “I have a hard time looking at the early pictures of myself because I remember feeling so insecure.”

     Christina Aguilera

Christina heartbreakingly confessed that she really struggled with body image throughout her twenties. She said: “I would never want to relive my 20s — you’re so in your own head and finding your confidence.”

Last year, Christina had unwanted attention as she was accused of using weight loss drugs. She was at workout studio Barry’s Bootcamp in West Hollywood to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her self-titled debut album.

The mother-of-two rocked a black bodysuit with thigh-high boots for the event, and her appearance was filmed and shared on social media, prompting an outpouring of messages from her fans.

It left Christina issuing a statement where she said her recent weight loss had nothing to do with focusing on “being skinny”. She said her mental health had been impacted due to being targeted for her petite frame when she burst onto the music scene 25 years ago.

“When you’re a teenager, you have a very different body than when you’re in your 20s. I started to fill out, and then that was unacceptable because it was like, ‘Oh, she’s getting thicker.’

“Then I had industry people: ‘They liked your body and how you were as a skinny teenager’,” Christina shared.

The Prince and Princess of Wales looked loved-up in a new photograph shared on the day of their 14th wedding anniversary, having spent the special occasion in the Isle of Mull in Scotland as part of a two-day visit.

In the new snap, the couple, who sported matching checked blazers and chinos, took in the breathtaking scenery as they wrapped their arms around one another and shared a private moment together in Tobermory. “Wonderful to be back on the Isle of Mull. Thank you to everyone for such a warm welcome,” the caption read alongside “W & C” to represent their initials.

The sweet picture comes hours after Prince William and Kate arrived on the island where they waved to the crowds who’d gathered to catch a glimpse of the royal couple. With the pair set to spend two-days on the island, they kicked off the trip with a visit to Aros Hall in the coastal town of Tobermory and were greeted by cheers by over 200 tourists and local residents who lined the main street of Tobermory to welcome them.

Aros Hall and a community hall in the village of Pennyghael in southern Mull are receiving grants from the Royal Foundation to fund their refurbishment. As part of the project, interior designer Banjo Beale, will work with fellow islanders to ensure the community-owned centres reflect the area’s culture.

After receiving a tour of the building, Prince William and Kate, who are officially known by their Scottish titles the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when in Scotland, headed to the Tobermory Producers Market where they sampled produce and met the makers and creators.

“Their first anniversary after Catherine’s official remission has to be that extra bit special. Every milestone takes them that little bit further away from the dreadful day when she was diagnosed with cancer. After his mother died, William said he knew it would make or break him and he refused to let it break him,” she said.

“I think they have both taken a similar attitude to dealing with the brutal year they have just endured. Their marriage is, I think, even stronger than before, and it was already a roaring success. I think they like each other. A lot. And that’s a whole different thing to loving one another -which, incidentally, they also do. A lot.”

When it comes to what makes their relationship so successful, Jennie added: “I think theirs is a pretty equal partnership. William is a much more hands-on dad than his father or grandfather. And I don’t think Catherine would let him get away with anything less.

“They operate as a partnership and they have such a deep understanding of one another that they can communicate when they are out and about with just a look or a gesture. They seem sometimes to have private jokes that make them smile or nudge one another.”

King Charles cancer update as monarch details ‘frightening’ battle and ‘dark moments’

The King has opened up about his experience of receiving his cancer diagnosis in his most personal reflection on what it’s like to battle the disease ahead of a special reception at Buckingham Palace tonight

The King has spoken of the “daunting and at times frightening experience” of receiving a cancer diagnosis, in the most personal reflection of his own battle with the disease. Ahead of hosting a special reception for cancer charities at Buckingham Palace this evening, in a written message Charles told of his appreciation for the “profound impact of human connection”, observing how “the darkest moments of illness can be illuminated by the greatest compassion”.

In the personally penned message for the programme of the event, attended by champions of cancer charities and those who are living with cancer, including radio DJ Adele Roberts, TV personality Ashley Cain, actor Richard E Grant, and the parents of the late campaigner Dame Deborah James, the King highlighted the gravity of 1,000 people a day being handed a cancer diagnosis.

Revealing his own feelings of becoming “among those statistics myself”, he added: “I can vouch for the fact that it can also be an experience that brings into sharp focus the very best of humanity.” Charles was diagnosed with cancer last February following a three night hospital stay at The London Clinic in Marylebone for an enlarged prostate procedure. Subsequent diagnostic tests identified a form of cancer.

The King has continued to have weekly treatment at a London hospital, returning to public duties last April. Since then he has taken on an extraordinary schedule of public work, telling aides he is intently “keen to make up for lost time”. In his message, Charles praised the selfless “care, comfort and reassurance” of all who work in the sector, acknowledging his own experience had led to “an even deeper appreciation of the extraordinary work undertaken”.

The King said: “My wife and I are delighted to host you here this evening to are, comfort and reassurance, celebrate and above all thank those who so selflessly give to the 390,000 people who, sadly, receive a new cancer diagnosis across the U.K. each year. That is over 1,000 new cases every single day.

“Each diagnosis, each new case, will be a daunting and at times frightening experience for those individuals and their loved ones. But as one among those statistics myself, I can vouch for the fact that it can also be an experience that brings into sharp focus the very best of humanity.

“It has certainly given me an even deeper appreciation of the extraordinary work undertaken by the remarkable organisations and individuals gathered here this evening, many of whom I have known, visited and supported over the years. And it has reinforced what I have long observed during these visits – that the darkest moments of illness can be illuminated by the greatest compassion.”

The King and Queen will tonight be joined by The Duchess of Gloucester, not only celebrating the work of the organisations but raising awareness of preventative action people can take to avoid cancer. Guests include representatives from the King and Queen’s patronages, including Macmillan Cancer Support, Breast Cancer Now, Maggie’s and Children’s Hospice South West.

The King and Queen will also watch a performance by the ITV Change + Check Choir, made up of 26 women who all spotted their breast cancer symptoms after seeing the awareness campaign on Lorraine Kelly’s ITV1 programme Lorraine. Dame Deborah James, who also worked on the show, died from bowel cancer aged just 40 in 2022.

Her Bowelbabe Fund raised £17million to fund the work of scientists at the forefront of bowel cancer research.

The King noted that both he and the Queen continue to be patrons of several cancer focused organisations, often seeing for themselves the incredible work undertaken offering families “sanctuary, understanding and practical assistance”.

In his message Charles wrote: “What strikes us repeatedly is the profound impact of human connection – whether in the careful explanation from a specialist nurse, the hand held by a hospice volunteer, or the shared experience in a support group. These moments of kinship create what I might call a ‘community of care’, one that sustains patients through the most difficult of times.”

In an extraordinary turn of events last year, doctors told the King of his plight just days before his daughter-in-law, the Princess of Wales, was also diagnosed with cancer. Royal sources say the two have “found great comfort” in confiding in one another as they faced their individual battles.

Kate underwent just over six months of preventative chemotherapy and was fortunately told in January that she is now in remission. A senior palace source said the King’s treatment continued to “move in a positive direction as reflected with the very full national and international diary programme” undertaken by the monarch in recent months.

The source emphasised that while progress has been made, his cancer remains in a “managed condition”. Both Charles and the princess have since used their profile to highlight the work of hospitals, medical staff and cancer sufferers. In his address tonight, Charles paid tribute to those working on the front line, saying their efforts meant “a cancer diagnosis need never mean facing the future without hope and support”.

He added: “So to all the researchers pursuing pioneering breakthroughs; to the healthcare professionals providing specialist treatment; to the volunteers offering comfort, or campaigning to raise awareness; and to the fundraisers enabling all this vital work – you have my whole family’s deepest admiration and gratitude.

“Your commitment to early diagnosis, evermore successful therapies and truly holistic care represents the very best our country can offer. This collective endeavour reminds us of what we can achieve when we are united with common purpose and uncommon determination.

“While every patient’s journey may be different, together you are ensuring that a cancer diagnosis need never mean facing the future without hope and support.

“And to those who may be receiving such upsetting news today, tomorrow or at any point in the future, I can only echo the departing words of the late Dame Deborah James, whose parents I am delighted to have with us here this evening, and whose example stands as an inspiration to us all, in sickness and in health: Find a life worth enjoying; take risks; love deeply; have no regrets; and always, always have rebellious hope. I am so very grateful for all that you do.”

  • Loose Women’s Gloria Hunniford reveals heartbreaking reason why she still needs to work at 84

Loose Women’s Gloria Hunniford reveals heartbreaking reason why she still needs to work at 84

Grieving Loose Women star Gloria Hunniford declares she “happy to be alive” as she releases a new pop album at the age 84 – just six months after losing her beloved husband Stephen Way

She was just seven when she earned her first pay day as a singer in her native Ireland. And in the 77 years since she has barely stopped.

Now a Loose Women regular and one of the hosts of BBC’s Rip Off Britain, she’s a staple on our screens each week.

But it isn’t just her passion for righting wrongs and fighting charlatans that is driving her to keep working.

In an exclusive interview, she reveals it’s actually the only thing that can s ave her from her grief. So she determined to do what it takes to keep busy.

It’s been 21 years since she lost daughter Caron Keating to cancer – and just six months since she lost her husband Stephen Way, aged 85, after 30 years together.

“Work makes me feel safe, because I have a structure, I know what I’m supposed to be doing,” she explains. “All the emotional stuff and all the heartbreak, that’s the hard bit to cope with.

“As long as you can take your [self] away from grief for an hour it helps clear your mind for a little while.”

She adds: “I’ve worked since I was seven and for me doing things and keeping busy is good for my head. To do nothing would be miserable for me. My way of coping wouldn’t be for everybody and I’m sure it’s quite controversial, but I love work.”

It’s been especially vital these past few months. Gloria – who turns 85 on April 10 – is currently experiencing a year of firsts without her beloved “Stevie” : the first Christmas, first birthday, first anniversary….

Gloria and "Stevie" were together for 30 years and married for 26. Seen here in 2007

She and the businessman were together since the mid-1990s and married in 1998, six years after her divorce from the father of her three children Don Keating.

“Some of my worst times when Caron passed and also when Stevie passed were if I was at home on my own,” she reveals. “And suddenly your mind wanders and you think: ‘what happened there, for goodness’ sake?’.”

It was a similarly poignant reason that prompted Gloria to take part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2005, a year after losing Caron, aged just 41. While Gloria’s Rumba was given just two points by notoriously-harsh Craig Revel Horwood, she still loved it. “When Caron died, I said: ‘I don’t think I’ll ever smile again’,” Gloria recalls. “One of my sons found that very sad, so when Strictly came up, they said: ‘look, it’ll be good for you.’

“And it was. It gave me something to laugh about, it was a challenge, the people were lovely and the glitter was lovely; it was helpful.

“One of the hardest aspects of grief is when you lose a child. You cannot carry a baby for nine months, love that child and not feel the incredible pain at losing that child. It’s indescribable.”

While Gloria clearly relishes trying something new – this spring will see her competing in Celebrity Bake Off – she is best known as a regular panellist on the ITV lunchtime chat show Loose Women, as well as for her campaigning work on the acclaimed BBC consumer series Rip Off Britain, which she has presented for the past 16 years, currently alongside Julia Somerville and Louise Minchin.

Rightly proud of both programmes, she hopes to still be working on them at 90. “It depends whether the producers would still want me when I was heading towards 90, but I’ve no plans to retire,” she says.

“Work may retire me, or I may be unlucky enough to have some pain or ache or a situation where I can’t do it, but give or take, I want to do it for as long as they want me.”

Gloria is, after all, determined to wring every moment of joy out of her days. “I’m glad to still be alive,” she explains when thinking about her upcoming birthday. “The years go by so bloody quickly.

“I don’t like the zeros – 60, 70 and 80, but once that zero has passed, you just continue.

“I try not to think about age too much.

“But then sometimes I hear myself mentioning it, like when the gas company are supposed to read my meter.

“I say: ‘I am in my 80s you know, I’m in a vulnerable category.’ There comes a point when you start using it for yourself!”

She’s certainly not letting her age put her off her ambitions.

In the 1980s she spent eight years at the helm of the popular chat show Sunday, Sunday, where she interviewed a host of A-list stars, from Audrey Hepburn and Doris Day to Charlton Heston. More than 40 years on she would love to do it again.

“We had every Hollywood star that you can think of,” she smiles. “I loved talking to people, so if somebody thought that there was a chat show in an 80-something I would be so thrilled!”

Meanwhile Gloria’s latest venture sees her re-releasing her 1979 studio album A Taste of Hunni. Fans of ITV’s The Masked Singer will remember her impressive vocals on the show in 2022 as Snow Leopard, but she actually began singing in her native Northern Ireland as a child.

“My dad worked for newspapers by day and he was a magician by night and when I was seven, he asked me to join him,” she says. “They were called concert parties and we’d perform in church halls, town halls and schools. There was no TV then, so that was everyone’s entertainment.”

Gloria released several singles during the 60s and 70s and even supported Roy Orbison when he toured her native Northern Ireland in 1969.

A decade later she recorded A Taste of Hunni, a collection of popular songs, including Feelings, You Are The Sunshine of My Life and What the World Needs Now. Today, 46 years later, she’s just thrown a lavish album launch party with the likes of Sir Cliff Richard to celebrate its re-release. She will know how it charts by the end of the week.

“To have a record out at this stage of my life is so exciting,” she smiles. “Mind you, there are some records I made in Ireland that I’d pay anybody to bury and never be seen again!

“But actually, I’m really pleased with this one – the song choice is good, the musicians are good, the arrangements are good and I could really sing in those days.

“So many memories are tied up in this album. It feels like my life has come full circle, so it’s a real thrill to have it re-released.”

It was following a BBC interview in Belfast about her singing career that Gloria ended up switching careers. Out of the blue they offered her a job in broadcasting, with her new boss telling her: ‘Remember, you’re as good as any bloke in this room.’ “That took away any worry that I might have had about sexism,” she recalls.

After starting in Ulster, she moved to London and became the first woman to have her own Radio 2 show. A host of programmes followed before she joined Loose Women a decade ago.

“I love the camaraderie,” she says of the daytime show. “I enjoy the meetings in the morning as much as the air-time – it’s much naughtier than anything that goes on air!”

Work may be Gloria’s emotional crutch, but she also knows her family are there to lean on when things get really hard.

Her sons Paul and Michael were vital in helping her through her painful first Christmas without Stevie.

“I was dreading Christmas because Stevie and I had 30 Christmases together, but my boys really saved the festive season,” says Gloria, who lives in Kent..

“The youngest one Michael did Christmas and my two grandchildren from Caron were able to spend three days with us. Then for New Year we all went to France and then Fort Lauderdale for a week and sat in the sun. My sons organised all of that, which was really kind.

“I think as you get older you really appreciate your children more and more. My two boys have been so amazing since Stephen died. Having children was the best thing I ever did in my life.”

Loose Women star Coleen Nolan ‘slated on social media’ about sister Linda’s funeral

Coleen Nolan has hit out at trolls who criticised her on the day of her sister, Linda Nolan’s funeral, telling Loose Women viewers: ‘We have to stop judging people’

Coleen Nolan has heartbreakingly revealed she was “slated on social media” following the funeral of her beloved sister, Linda.

Linda tragically died in January, aged 65, after losing her ongoing battle with cancer. The valiant Nolan Sister star was laid to rest in Blackpool, Lancashire, on February 1 at a funeral, which was attended by the singer’s famous family and friends.

Also paying their respects to Linda outside the church were some 2,000 fans, who Coleen, 59, smiled at as she got out of the funeral car. However, sadly, she was slammed on social media for her expression, with many suggesting it was inappropriate for the sombre occasion.

Opening up about the abuse she received online, Coleen told the Loose Women audience ‘we have to stop judging people’. In a passionate statement, she said: “We’ve got to stop judging how people deal with grief. And I’ve got to stop caring how people are judging me. [At Linda’s funeral] I got out of the car smiling because there were about 2,000 people there, looking and smiling. And then I got slated on social media. [People were asking] ‘What’s she smiling about?’

“[I was thinking] I don’t know what people want me to do. And it bothered me at first, but then I thought I’ve got to stop caring what people think.

“We all deal with grief differently. I didn’t want to get out the car and not acknowledge [the crowd]. I saw all those people and it made me cry because Linda would have loved it. And I’m so glad they turned out for her.”

Coleen concluded with a defiant message to any trolls who might have been watching Loose Women on Monday, clarifying: “I got out [of the car and smiled] to show my gratitude.”

Following her appearance on Loose Women today, Coleen was praised by viewers, with one taking to X, saying: “Spot on, grief is personal and individual. There is no right or wrong way. I’ve known people who have literally died of a broken heart.” Meanwhile, another advised: “Coleen – you do what you want to do.”

The presenter opened up about how proud she was of Linda, who she said always had a smile on her face, no matter how much pain she was in last year. Speaking to the Mirror in September, Coleen said: “Certainly in public [there’s a smile on her face], obviously there’s nights she goes to bed and I only found this out recently but there are nights she goes I think the night times because she’s totally on her own.

“You know, in your bedroom and your brain, you just overthink and I think they’re the times when she has her cry and and she’s scared but the rest of the time she is an absolute warrior. I look at her in awe. She treats chemo like she’s going to Tesco and it keeps coming back and battering her and she keeps on smiling and she still keeps getting out of bed and she bloody hates it.”
