Lobo is a character appearing in comic books published by DC Comics.

He was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and first appeared in Omega Men #3 (June 1983). He is an alien from the utopian planet of Czarnia, and he works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter.

Lobo made his debut in the 1980s as a ruthless villain, but his character fell into obscurity with writers for a time. However, in the early 1990s, he was resurrected as a bounty hunter, gaining his own comic series.

Initially conceived as a parody of the “grim and gritty” superhero trend of the 1990s, Lobo surprisingly found a passionate fan base within that very trend.

This unexpected popularity propelled him into the spotlight of DC Comics stories, leading to starring roles in various series over the ensuing decades.

In 2019, Lobo made his live-action debut in the premiere episode of the second season of the television series Krypton, portrayed by Emmett J. Scanlan.
