Reba McEntire was praised for his country twist on the national anthem at Super Bowl LVIII
Reba McEntire represented country music at Super Bowl LVIII.
The singer took to the field before the championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers to sing the national anthem — the first song for McEntire. She wore a sequin-studded ivory jacket and black pants with sequin embroidery, and her performance of the national anthem had a country vibe.
Although she never sang at the Super Bowl, her performance was successful without a hitch and was well received by NFL players and fans alike.

Another commented: “I got goosebumps. #Reba did a great job.”
In addition to praising her vocal talent, many others also commented on her appearance.
“Reba doesn’t age. HOW?!?!?!?!” one asked.

Ahead of McEntire’s performance, singer Andra Day wowed the audience with her performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Rapper Post Malone also took the stage during the show ahead of a performance of the shortened version of “America the Beautiful.” He sings songs and accompanies acoustic guitars.
Taylor Swift, who will be collaborating with Malone on a track on her upcoming album, smiled and swayed as she watched his performance.

During a press conference in Las Vegas on Thursday, McEntire spoke about how much she loves the city and that she’s “thrilled” to be in the first Super Bowl there.
“I’ve never sung the national anthem at the Super Bowl. I am extremely honored to have been chosen to sing that song. It means I get to sing a very special song for all Americans, people around the world who have really worked so hard for freedom and bringing us peace,” she said.
“It’s not about me. I am the representative of this song and I am honored to sing it. It’s a good song. I’ve been singing it for 50 years and I’m really proud to sing it.”

To get ready for her big moment, she said: “I sang the national anthem in the shower, when we got in the car. Rex, my boyfriend, is a huge football fan, playing all kinds of sports as he prepares to attend. school. And so he would say, ‘Okay, let’s sing again.’ I would say, ‘I think I know those words very well now so I’m fine.'”
“But just being prepared and knowing that people are going to sing that song with me. That helps,” she continued. “If I knew that they were singing along, they were also remembering and having fun, it would be easier for me. Just be prepared when you step out there.”
