Prince Harry given stark warning by veterans bout Meghan’s involvement with invictus games

Prince Harry warned by veterans Invictus Games ‘lost meaning’ with Meghan Markle’s involvement

Prince Harry created the Invictus Games back in 2014 to help support wounded, injured and sick service personnel, but he’s been warned they have ‘lost their meaning’

Prince Harry has been given a stark warning by veterans over his decision to involve Meghan Markle in the Invictus Games.

The Duke of Sussex founded the sporting event in 2014 to help support wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans. In recent years, Meghan has become involved in the Invictus Games and even made a passionate speech at last year’s event.

While many people have welcomed Meghan’s involvement, some veterans are worried the games have become “too royal”. They’ve claimed the Invictus Games have “lost their meaning” with Meghan’s involvement and are asking Harry to step down.

GB News host Mark Dolan claims: “About 2,000 ex-military have left the games, as they say it’s lost its original meaning. There are some former veterans who would like Harry to step down.”

However, fans have hit back at the claims and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their thoughts. “Prince Harry rocks at the Invictus Games! These games aren’t just about sports—they’re a powerful reminder of the strength and resilience of wounded warriors. Let’s cheer them on!” one fan wrote.

Another said: “From that first opening speech in 2014, now we’re here! Congratulations Prince Harry and the Invictus Games on your 10th Anniversary,” while a third person added: “THE founder of the Invictus Games took the stage on the 1st edition of IG and at that young age delivered a formidable speech. There were NO RF coalition, it’s Harry’s love & dedication to his fellow soldiers. H&M thrive!”

Harry will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games next week with a trip to London. The Duke of Sussex will visit St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8 to give a reading at a special service.

A statement published on the Invictus Games’ social media accounts read: “The Invictus Games Foundation will celebrate 10 years of changing lives and saving lives with a ‘Service of Thanksgiving’ at St Paul’s Cathedral on May 8th. We will be joined by our Patron, Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, actor Damian Lewis and members of the worldwide Invictus Community to mark the occasion.”

Harry will not be joined by Meghan for the event. However, the Duchess of Sussex will join her husband for a trip to Nigeria where they will take part in talks on the Invictus Games.
