Megyn Kelly slams Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Megyn Kelly slams Prince Harry, Meghan Markle over charity’s $200 ‘lost check’ claim

Megyn Kelly isn’t persuaded “for one minute” that a check that was lost in the mail was the reason that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s charity was declared “delinquent” by California regulators.

“What they’re claiming is, ‘Oh the check was lost in the mail’,” Kelly, the host of the SiriusXM podcast “The Megyn Kelly Show,” told Sky News Australia on Thursday.

“I don’t believe that. I don’t believe that for one minute. That’s not how taxes are filed these days.”

Kelly was commenting on the controversy surrounding Archewell Foundation, the nonprofit founded by the British royal and his American-born wife which was temporarily barred from raising money in California because it was in arrears on its annual registration fees, which is reported to total $200.

As of Tuesday, California officials declared the charity to be “in good standing” and no longer “delinquent.”

At a news conference earlier this week, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-Calif.) defended the couple, who are California residents, saying that “not only are they in compliance, it was a technical paperwork issue that was wildly overhyped.”

According to the Daily Mail, the charity sent a check to California registration officials, but it got lost in the mail.

“A new check has been mailed and we anticipate that this will be quickly resolved and reflected in records within seven business days,” the Daily Mail quoted a source close to the charity as saying.

The former Fox News host wasn’t buying the explanation.

“Snail mail by a corporation that’s a charity? No. It either gets filed electronically or it gets FedEx’d with return receipt requested where it can all be tracked,” Kelly told Sky News Australia on Thursday.

“You want me to believe that somebody put it in the snail mail with a little stamp and it just got lost? That’s a lie.”

Kelly said that Prince Harry and Markle were “lying because they’re humiliated.”

The Post has sought comment from Archewell Foundation, Prince Harry and Markle.

“We have diligently investigated the situation and can confirm that The Archewell Foundation remains fully compliant and in good standing,” a spokesperson for the nonprofit told Sky News Australia.

“Due payments were made promptly and in accordance with the IRS’s processes and procedures.”

The spokesperson added that “all necessary paperwork had been filed by the Foundation without error or wrongdoing.”

Archewell, whose name was inspired by the couple’s son, Archie, is a Beverly Hills-based nonprofit that was founded in 2020 after the couple, who hold the titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex, stepped down from their roles as full-time royals and moved to North America.

What do you think? Be the first to comment.

The charity, whose self-described mission is “quite simply, to do good,” reported in its 2021 filing that it raised $13 million from benefactors while handing out $3 million in grant.

The next year, the nonprofit reported just $2 million in revenue.
