Meghan Markle fury: How Duchess lambasted ex-husband for being ‘incredibly unprofessional’

MEGHAN MARKLE was previously married to a Hollywood film producer, who she once lambasted for being “incredibly unprofessional”, according to a royal biographer.

Meghan met Trevor Engelson in 2004 and the pair dated for several years before tying the knot in 2011. However, their marriage didn’t last ‒ they separated after just 18 months and divorced in 2013. This was partly due to their distance ‒ in 2011, Meghan had been cast as Rachel Zane in the TV legal drama Suits, which did their filming in Toronto, Canada, while Trevor remained in Los Angeles.

However, the cracks were apparently starting to appear three weeks before their wedding when Trevor made an obscure podcast called Schmoedown and Meghan watched the livestream from her home in Toronto.

Trevor could be seen swigging from an engraved hip flask during the show, something which was reportedly a gift from his fiancee.

According to the 2018 book ‘Meghan A Hollywood Princess’, she texted him to “put that flask down, it looks incredibly unprofessional”.

Trevor was talking about his career with two friends in a “breezy self-deprecating manner that was very different to his bride-to-be who, as her former colleagues on Deal or No Deal observed, was always very self-contained and considered.”

He even told an anecdote about how he was chastised by a senior talent agent at the firm Endeavor for standing too far away from the urinal, because he was afraid of getting splashback on his favourite suit.

At one point, one of Trevor’s friends suggested they have Meghan on the show.

Trevor retorted: “She’s a big deal, f**k off.”

Royal biographer Andrew Morton described how this podcast highlighted how different Trevor and Meghan’s personalities really were.

He wrote: “The procast hinted at their personality differences, Trevor loose-lipped, unconcerned, carefree, a striking counterpart to Meghan, who was archly protective of ‘brand Meghna’, always keen to project an air of sophistication and style.

“She may have felt at times that Trevor was too brashly laid back for comfort, especially not that her star was rising; Suits had been picked up for a second season.”

Three weeks after the podcast, Meghan and Trevor went to Ocho Rios, Jamaica for their wedding celebrations.

They had already done the official ceremony in LA, but this was their opportunity to really let their hair down and celebrate with friends.

Due to their hectic schedules, Meghan had delegated most of the organisation to the in-house wedding coordinator.

All she had to do herself was the guest list, choosing the flowers and agreeing to the menu.

After a weekend of parties, including beach wheelbarrow races, on September 10 she walked down the aisle in a strapless white wedding dress for a 12 minute ceremony.

The couple recited vows they had written themselves and then, in line with Jewish tradition, the bride and groom were hoisted on chairs above their guests’ heads.

Their ceremony was described as “moving” by one of Meghan’s bridesmaids and it even made it into the ‘Hitched, Hatched, Hired’ column of the Hollywood Reporter.

Sadly though, the marriage was not to last, in part due to Meghan’s work being so far away from Trevor’s.

They divorced in 2013 and three years later Meghan met Prince Harry on a blind date.
