Dolly is the fourth child out of the 12 children born to Robert and Avie Lee Parton. She was born in a one-bedroom cabin in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee, so the family was not wealthy by any means.

So I spent a couple million dollars making it look like I spent $50 on it,” Parton explained during an appearance on The Nate Berkus Show. “Even like in the bathroom, I made the bathroom, so it looked like an outdoor toilet.”
