Americans slam Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Americans slam Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘trying to be US Royal Family’

The criticism came after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a new video promoting their Archewell Foundation, which has struggled to collect donations over the past 12 months.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been slammed by people in the US who claim they are “trying to act like an American Royal Family”.

The backlash came after the couple released a new video promoting the impact of their Archewell Foundation as the charity faced a multi-million pound drop in funding, compared to when it first launched. The video was embedded on the Archewell website as part of the charity’s 28-page Impact Report for 2022-23.

It was released shortly after Kensington Palace issued footage on Monday of the Princess of Wales helping out at a baby bank with her children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – with some speculating the timing was “calculated”.

Commenting on TalkTV’s discussion about the video on YouTube, one person wrote: “Why are they trying to act like American Royal Family. We don’t have that here nor do we want that here. Please come pick up these horrible people.”

One person responded: “That’s going to be a solid ‘NO’ absolutely not. Seriously you can keep them, they’re not welcome over here.”

Another accused Meghan of being “jealous” of Princess Kate, adding: “How can she ever compete with our beautiful future Queen?”

Speaking to Vanessa Feltz, royal expert Emily Andrews questioned the timing behind the release of the new video.

She explained: “I think the issue here that has perhaps got those eyebrows raising is the timing. Obviously we saw that lovely video yesterday from Kate where she took George, Louis and Charlotte to a Baby Bank last month and they were helping out volunteering, picking presents for children.

“[Archewell’s] video is normally released in January, that’s when Archewell has done it every year but of course this year they’re releasing it in December so that’s why people are saying, well of course if you know Kate can use her children to get such good publicity, Harry and Meghan can play that game too.”

Throughout the one-minute clip, the couple are seen hugging veterans, taking pictures with supporters and are seen packing bags for school girls in Nigeria.

The report states: “We are committed to a simple but profound mission: Show Up, Do Good.”
