Zara McDermott’s pals fume at ex Sam Thompson’s ‘attention seeking’ after ‘crying in street’

Zara McDermott’s friends are ‘happy’ for the star as she moves on from her split from Sam Thompson.

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Zara, 28, was recently spotted on a romantic date with Louis Tomlinson as she moves on from the breakdown of her five year romance with Made In Chelsea star Sam. Zara’s friends are said to be happy for her, even if the romance is moving a little fast.

Whispers and fan theories Zara and Louis, 33, were dating have been circulating of late. But, those theories were soon confirmed earlier this week as they were spotted on a cosy date. Strictly Come Dancing star Zara, 28, and musician Louis, 33, were snapped at a hotel in Aldeburgh, Suffolk, by a fellow guest as they enjoyed a romantic meal for two.

Following the release of the pictures, a friend of Zara’s claimed to the Daily Mail: “Things seem to be moving pretty fast. Zara is really happy and that’s what matters the most – all anyone around her wants is to see her smiling.”

While Zara appears to be ready to move forward, earlier this week Sam made it clear he is not in the same place.

Speaking on his podcast Staying Relevant – which he hosts alongside pal Pete Wicks – Sam discussed the concept of people starting dating soon after a break-up. He said: “A lot of people look for validation in other people and they look for the next person instantly … It’s like, ‘I need to find someone else to fill that hole and I need to find that excitement.’

“You know when you get that excited feeling when you are talking to someone new and fresh? I can’t do that.”

Following Sam’s remarks Zara’s friends have been left fuming at the star. One friend of Zara’s has claimed Sam is a “loose cannon” and added they found his comments about the split “pathetic”. They added: “It feels like it always has to be about him” while they also can’t understand ‘why’ he ‘can’t let her move on’.

Sam and Zara were together for five years and suffered a rocky patch in their relationship when Zara cheated on Sam with an X Factor boss during her time on the show, The X Factor: Celebrity. The pair moved past Zara’s infidelity after she made a tearful apology on Made In Chelsea, in scenes which went viral.

The pair moved in together in Sam’s Chelsea pad, which is next to his sister’s house. And things seemed blissful as they would make funny social media videos together alongside TOWIE star Pete. But, over Christmas, the pair called it quits. However, a friend has now claimed Zara “put a lot into the relationship” to “try and make it work”. However, Zara decided she just “couldn’t”.

Documentary maker Zara has moved into her own plush home, which is said to be round the corner from ex Sam. Earlier this week, after speculation from fans the pair were an item, photographs of Zara on a cosy date with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, 33, emerged.

And it’s been claimed both Zara and Louis’ friends are happy for the pair and their budding romance.
