This Morning’s Nick Ferrari shares huge wedding update as Alison Hammond left fuming

LBC broadcaster Nick Ferrari has shared a huge update on his upcoming wedding after confirming that he proposed to his fiancée Clare Patterson, on holiday

A This Morning star has revealed they’re getting married very soon. Nick Ferrari, who is best known for his LBC programme shared the news on Friday’s episode of This Morning.

It comes just weeks after he opened up about his romance with his fiancée Clare Patterson, with whom he has been with for ten years. Nick, 66, appeared on the ITV midday magazine show alongside regular guest Ashley James as the pair spoke to hosts Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

During a discussion over the size of a bridal party, Alison quipped: “I think you need at least ten bridesmaids right?” Ashley, 38, responded: “I don’t want to get married but I would say if you want to have one, none, 95, I feel like it’s your day!” Looking over to Nick, who has previously been married, she said: “And hopefully you only do it once, if you’re lucky, you get to do it two or three times.”

An intrigued Alison asked: “How many have you had Nick?” Nick went on to respond: “A couple… But you don’t know how many friends you’ve got until you announce you are getting married in the South of France as I am later this year.

“Suddenly, everyone is your friend!” Shocked by the news, Ashley joked: “I still haven’t made the cut,” which prompted Alison to reply: “I don’t think I’ve made the cut, I’m devastated!”

But Dermot was on hand to comfort the star as he joked it was “early doors” to be discussing the wedding. Alison said that if she attended, she’d have playfully shouted out: “It should have been me!” Nick first shared the happy news of his upcoming wedding on This Morning earlier this January.

He left his viewers with a bittersweet sentiment as he revealed: “Well I know a nation’s heart is broken but I have to impart the news that I am engaged to be wed to Clare.”

He gleefully announced his engagement, sharing: “I am engaged to be wed to Clare. We had the most idyllic Christmas and we’d been to Lapland and had a brilliant time.”

Continuing the romantic tale, Nick added: “Then we were down in the South of France and after ten years together, I said she could make an honest man out of me. I did it at our favourite restaurant in the South of France and I wanted her to play a role in designing her engagement ring.

“So we went along to a DIY store and kept getting down on one knee.” He said he got down on one knee and asked Clare to hand him a screwdriver instead as a joke. He later confirmed that he had bought a “decent ring” in a local village.

Nick, who shares two sons from his marriage to Sandra Phylis Conolly, has generally kept details about his soon-to-be bride, Clare, under wraps during interviews, though he once let slip in 2017 that she was a colleague.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
