Olympic athlete Nicola Adams has revealed the heartbreaking reason for her split from her girlfriend of seven years, Ella Baig. Nicola called it quits with the OnlyFans star, 27 – with whom she shares a son – last month, in news which devastated their legion of loyal fans.

Neither Nicola, 42, or Ella commented on why they decided to call it a day, but now the Strictly Come Dancing star has admitted her ex’s raunchy career as an OnlyFans model played its part in their breakup even though they reportedly went to couple’s therapy to try and save their relationship.

Speaking to The Sun about the challenges Ella working with the x-rated sharing site presented, Nicola said: “I have always been incredibly supportive of Ella’s career and the choices she has made, including her work on OnlyFans.”

She added: “However, as much as I respect what she does, I can’t deny that it has had an impact on our relationship.”

A source close to the couple, continued: “They really tried to make it work, especially for the sake of their son, and even went to couples’ therapy, but came to the conclusion that they were better off separating.

“They still have a lot of love for each other, and great memories, but are focused on being brilliant co-parents.”

Nicola and Ella share two-year-old son Taylor Nate, who was born via IVF using one of former Strictly star Nicola’s eggs.

The former couple first decided they were going to try to start a family in 2020, two years after they met on a night out. At the time, they began IVF treatment and used an egg fertilised via a sperm donor.

Ella carried their child before giving birth a month before her due date. Following Taylor’s birth, Nicola spoke to Vogue magazine about how there was a lack of parenting books for same-sex families. She said: “The information is out there but we really had to dig for it.”

Ella also shared an insight into her pregnancy when speaking to Hello! magazine. She recalled the moment her waters broke and shouted at her partner to ring the hospital.

“This is the point when everything feels worth the chaos and the long process of IVF. It’s the one outcome you’re waiting for,” she said.

The couple were forced to deny they had secretly tied the knot in November 2022 after rumours started to swirl at the time that they’d got hitched in Mexico.

The boxing champion managed to bamboozle her online followers after posting a rather formal photo of herself, suited and booted at a wedding, standing in front of a huge flower garland with Ella and Taylor, sending fans into a frenzy.

Indeed, the pair were at a wedding – but it wasn’t theirs. The caption had read: “Perfect Together,” before Nicola wrote under the image: “I have you, you have me.”
