Sir Rod Stewart has delighted both himself and his fans by announcing a new ultimate hits complication album. The 80-year-old music icon has been hammering out hits since 1964 – and has amassed an impressive collection of 32 albums and 147 singles.

The star has picked out his favourite tracks to create a new ultimate collection – which he is planning to release just days before he enjoys one of his career highlight performances. Sir Rod sent his fans into a frenzy on Friday when he announced the new record which he declared will be filled with tracks fans know and love.

Sharing a video via Instagram that showcased the album cover, the chart-topping star wrote: “I’m thrilled to let you know that The Ultimate Hits collection is now available for pre-order and it’s coming your way June 27th! It’s packed with the classics you know and love. Pre-order now and be ready to sing along when it drops!”

The new collection of hits is to be released just hours before Sir Rod is due to take to the iconic Pyramid stage at the 2025 Glastonbury festival in the traditional Sunday Legends slot. The star singer was announced as one of the headlines of the 2025 festival last year.

In a statement at the time of his announcement, Sir Rod said: “I’m proud, ready and more than able to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June.”

In a statement at the time of his announcement, Sir Rod said: “I’m proud, ready and more than able to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury in June.”

However, he later revealed performing at the music festival would cost him a huge amount of money – but he insisted it was worth it in order to play to fans on Worthy Farm. Appearing on TALKSport last November, Sir Rod said he “immediately” knew he would accept the opportunity, adding: “It’s a great honour.”

However, he went on to admit that “it’s going to cost me a fortune to do it – $300,0000 (£236,832).” Explaining the huge financial cost, he went on to say: “I’ve got to bring all my band back from America, of course Glastonbury don’t pay for that.

“But I don’t care if it cost me $1million (£789,440), I would have done it,” he concluded. “This is a great honour. It really is the greatest honour.”

Over the years, Sir Rod has witnessed eight of his 33 albums reach number one in the UK, while 24 of them charted within the top 5. His most recent album, Swing Fever, was a collaboration with Jools Holland and it shot to the top of the charts when released in February 2024.

The 2025 Glastonbury Festival is set to take place at Worthy Farm from June 19 to 27 and will see The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo headline the event.
