An ITV Loose Women star has revealed how she and her husband used to live nearby Donald Trump in Florida and the trio struck up a friendship before his presidency
A Loose Women star has revealed her bizarre friendship with Donald Trump – before cutting contact with the US President.
Penny Lancaster and her husband Rod Stewart struck up a friendship with Trump, 78, as they owned a house in Palm Beach, Florida – up the road from the controversial leader. Speaking on ITV’s Loose Women, 53 year old Penny explained to her fellow panelists she and her rockstar husband Rod, 80, would attend events after being invited by Trump – but things turned sour after he began to run for President and started sharing his shocking, racist, sexist and homophobic views.
Speaking on the ITV show, Penny explained: “We have a house in Florida up the road from him so from time to time we would engage in those events. But, when he began to run for President and then starting to hear those very dangerous rhetorics – those comments where he said Mexicans were rapists and that Muslims were terrorists.

“I [thought], ‘Woah, this is just crossing all sorts of boundaries.’ This man sounds like he’s going to disrupt the world in a very unfortunate way,” she revealed: “From that point onwards, I said to my husband, ‘Darling, we are not going anywhere near him, again I cannot be in the same space with someone that can speak that kind of language’. So in the end, we turned down any further [function] invitations and that was it.”
Penny revealed that she and Rod still live five minutes away from his Florida home and said he “blocks all the roads”. Penny explained: “You have to go the long way round to go anywhere, you can’t get to the airport… he literally controls that whole part of Florida.” She then joked: “He can sort his own potholes out, can’t he?!,” as the audience began to laugh.

“It’s uncomfortable,” Penny admitted but said any chance of them engaging in socialising with the controversial President is “an absolute no, no”. She explained: “Before we didn’t know what the man was like, because he seemed to generous, giving to charity and all these different functions but, then, obviously, we’ve seen a different side to him and it’s an absolute no, no – as far as we can push him, it’s an absolute no.”
Last year, Sir Rod branded Trump “a monster” as he told the DailyMail: “He’s not the guy I met 20 years ago… I used to go to his house every Christmas and do concerts. He was a good guy. But he’s turned into somewhat of a monster.”
In a previous interview, Rod revealed they used to attend Trump’s Christmas party – but that is no longer the case. Sir Rod told Scottish Field magazine in 2023: “I have a house in Palm Beach just up the road from Trump. I used to go to his Christmas party and the balls he held but my wife said ‘no’. There was stuff he was coming out with, what he was saying about women he had known in the past, and Penny said ‘you’re not going – he’s a disgrace’.”
