Loose Women star defends Brooklyn Beckham’s wife Nicola Peltz amid birthday snub claims

Loose Women presenter Charlene White has given her take on the rumours of a rift within the Beckham household after Brooklyn and his wife Nicola skipped his dad David’s birthday

Loose Women star Charlene White has hit out at claims that Nicola Peltz is to blame over Brooklyn Beckham’s rumoured rift with his family, saying that the finger is always pointed at the woman in a relationship. It comes after Brooklyn and his wife Nicola were seemingly absent from his dad David’s 50th birthday celebrations at the weekend, fuelling rumours of rift within the family.

Speaking about the situation, Charlene said: “Speculation is swirling as it always does in the press and the fingers, as always in these situations, has fallen on his wife Nicola. For some reason, it’s always the woman’s fault. It’s as if men don’t have an independent thought,” Charlene says. “They’ll always blame women won’t they.”

She later said: “I think the assumption sometimes is that if there’s family ructions and there’s a married couple or there’s a couple that’s together, you find when people have conversations it’s the woman’s fault that something is happening.

“As though a man isn’t able to make a decision about his own family unless a woman tells him what to think and I just don’t think that’s the situation.”

David was joined by family and friends – including youngest children Romeo Beckham, 22, Cruz Beckham, 20, and Harper Beckham, 13 – for a star-studded birthday dinner at restaurant Core in Notting Hill over the weekend. However, both Brooklyn and Nicola were not in attendance.

Since the snub, Nicola has been accused of “controlling” Brooklyn, with sources claiming that the Beckham family are “done with Nicola” after former Manchester United legend David was left “hurt” by their no-show.

A source told the Daily Mail that David and wife Victoria will do “anything to get their son back” but that they are “done” with his wife, claiming that she “finds a way to start an argument” and drives a rift between him and his family.

“But then what happens is Nicola will kick something off and it will blow up and then it becomes impossible for him to go,” the source claimed. “It all stinks of a control thing. The family are absolutely certain this is what happened this time round, that a drama was created and Brooklyn doesn’t feel he can turn up to see his family – but it happened three times in a week.”

Earlier today, it was reported that David and Victoria refused to allow Brooklyn to celebrate the football icon’s birthday privately. The couple were reportedly flying into the UK to celebrate David’s birthday, however their idea of a more intimate gathering was ‘shot down” by David and Victoria.
