Good Morning Britain viewers couldn’t help but notice that hosts Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid showcased some worrying changes in their behaviour this morning following the news that ITV bosses will be making huge cuts to daytime TV scheduling.

On Tuesday morning, it was announced that ITV daytime will look very different in a few months with huge changes coming to shows including Good Morning Britain. The ITV news and magazine shows usually run from 6am to 1.30pm weekdays and include the breakfast show followed by Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women.

From January 2026, Good Morning Britain will be extended by 30 minutes to run from 6am to 9.30am daily. While Lorraine Kelly’s show has been cut in half and will now run from 9.30am until 10am. Not only that, but the programme will only air for 30 weeks of the year.

During the weeks Lorraine is not on air, Good Morning Britain will run from 6am to 10am. This Morning will remain in its 10am-12.30pm slot on weekdays throughout the year, while Loose Women will be in the 12.30-1.30pm slot for a seasonal basis of 30 weeks too.

Following the announcement, eagle-eyed ITV viewers spotted a change in energy in Susanna, 54, as she returned to present the show this morning alongside Richard, 69. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their reactions, one viewer wrote: “Anyone else notice Susanna Reid’s energy is WAY off this morning? Something is not right… #GMB #ITV.”

Another echoed: “Susanna Reid looked like she was just going through the motions today. Where’s the spark gone?? #GoodMorningBritain.” Someone else wrote: “First all the ITV shake-ups… now Susanna looks like she’s about to quit live on air. I’m stressed. #GMB.”

Another viewer added: “Susanna Reid looking like she’s aged 10 years overnight. ITV better not be pushing her out too.”

“Richard Madeley looks WORRIED. And I can’t say that I feel sorry for him,” someone else quipped. While another ITV viewer speculated: “Between the weird silences and Susanna’s “I’ve had enough” eyes, it’s clear things are NOT okay behind the scenes. What is going on at ITV?? #GMB”

It comes after Kevin Lygo, Managing Director of ITV’s Media and Entertainment Division, explained of the huge changes: “Daytime is a really important part of what we do, and these scheduling and production changes will enable us to continue to deliver a schedule providing viewers with the news, debate and discussion they love from the presenters they know and trust as well generating savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres.

“These changes also allow us to consolidate our news operations and expand our national, international and regional news output and to build upon our proud history of trusted journalism at a time when our viewers need accurate, unbiased news coverage more than ever. I recognise that our plans will have an impact on staff off screen in our Daytime production teams.”

He added: “We will work with ITV Studios and ITN as they manage these changes to produce the shows differently from next year, and support them through this transition. Daytime has been a core element of ITV’s schedule for over 40 years and these changes will set ITV up to continue to bring viewers award winning news, views and discussion as we enter our eighth decade.”

The expanded Good Morning Britain will see a mix of news, interviews, debate and competitions as well as more regional news and more investigations as well as more analysis of the biggest stories of the day.

GMB will be made by a special team within ITV News at ITN whilst Lorraine, This Morning and Loose Women will continue to be produced by ITV Studios. It will be broadcast from a new location in central London. ITV Studios is now working with its Daytime teams that will see the three shows produced by one team sharing resources and operations.
