Eamonn Holmes was notably missing from GB News on Monday as the channel broadcasted its VE Day special from outside Buckingham Palace. Ellie Costello, Eamonn’s usual co-host, was joined by Stephen Dixon to lead the morning segment after Eamonn had an “unexpected” fall at his home on Friday.
He took to social media to share photos of himself in an ambulance and expressed gratitude towards the medical staff caring for him. Eamonn informed his fans that he was rushed to the hospital after a “bit of a fall on the bathroom floor”. Later, he posted an update from the hospital, stating it wasn’t the ideal way to spend the long weekend but he was thankful for the team looking after him.

Eamonn added: “Not how I wanted to be spending The Holiday weekend… but life’s not easy these days. Thanks to everybody who is looking after me.”
The presenter has previously undergone spinal surgery and a double hip replacement. He has been candid about his use of mobility aids, and earlier this year, he asked fans for their support as he continues to struggle with ongoing health issues, reports the Express.
Fans sent him messages of support on social media, with one writing: “Oh Eamonn, sending much love” followed by a red heart emoji. As another added: “Get well soon Big man, less dancing more singing in the bathroom from here on.”
He admitted that he is still dealing with “pain” and sometimes fears he may not overcome his “disc immobility”. Speaking on GB News back in March, he said: “I look at this, and I hear things that really worry me about the way people with disabilities are being portrayed.
“It’s as if there’s nothing wrong with them, or if they’re claiming something, it’s dismissed as not being as bad as they say it is.
“I’ve been in a wheelchair for the past two years, and goodness, my life has changed so much in doing the simplest things, things I used to rely on.”
In May 2024, Eamonn Holmes and his wife Ruth Langsford ended their 14-year marriage. The couple, who previously co-hosted ITV’s This Morning, are now going through divorce proceedings.
Their representatives issued a statement confirming their separation, saying: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”
Eamonn and Ruth have a 22 year old son, Jack, together. Eamonn also has three children from a previous marriage: Declan, 35, Niall, 31, and Rebecca, 33.
