Denise Welch sets record straight on ‘ridiculous’ Loose Women co-star ‘feud’

Denise Welch was quick to set the record straight while appearing on ITV’s This Morning as she spoke about the on-air clashes that often takes place on ITV show Loose Women

Loose Women star Denise Welch has opened up on reported feuds amongst her ITV co-stars as she insisted that they all get along very well.

The 66-year-old actress appeared on ITV’s This Morning on Wednesday (March 5) alongside Loose Morning star Jane Moore.

Discussing their new podcast with presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, the pair went on to share insight on how they’re able to talk about matters in depth and how their new Loose Women audio programme has been a success so far.

But when presenter Cat pointed out how well the women seem to get along despite having on-air clashes, Densise explained that things are often taken out of context.

Cat said: “As a woman watching that show, I love it that you can really disagree and then you’re the best of mates.”

Denise quickly interjected and said: “We never even talk about it off stage, no!” With Jane adding that their conflicts often end up on the “front page of a magazine”.

Former Coronation Street star Denise added: “It’s so ridiculous! I’m 67 this year. If you think I would voluntarily come into a job with a toxic environment, I wouldn’t! I don’t have to and I wouldn’t!

“We have never had a row in all the years that we’ve worked! Me and Carol McGiffin used to have some hong dingers on there but we never talked about when we got off stage. People like to pit women against each other.”

After hearing Denise’s stance, some viewers were left rather unsure, with one writing: “Jeez! Own opinions?? Didn’t Charlene [White] have to give Denise a telling off ‘on-air’ last week over her comments on a subject??”

Another also shared a harsh reaction and penned: “Toxic femininity also exists. You only need to watch Loose Women to see it in action.”

The first episode of Loose Women is available for fans to listen to on ITVX. The synopsis for episode one reads: “In our first episode of Loose Women: The Podcast, Denise Welch and Ayda Field Williams discuss addiction, surrogacy, motherhood and Hollywood crushes!”
