David Beckham has ‘curveball thrown into his day’ as he prepares to meet King Charles

David Beckham met King Charles at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London where they discussed the former footballer’s recent 50th birthday celebrations – which Brooklyn Beckham snubbed

David Beckham had a “curveball thrown into his day” hours before he met King Charles at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, it is reported.

The former England international, 50, is said to have been “shocked and upset” to learn his son Brooklyn and daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz were just five minutes from the garden show at the time – and hadn’t informed the family. It was the second time Brooklyn, 26, and his 30-year-old wife had snubbed David after dodging his birthday celebrations in the capital earlier this month amid a very public family fallout.

“It is deeply upsetting for the Beckham family. All the time Brooklyn is in America, it’s a case of out of sight if not out of mind. Then he turns up in London and is just up the road working. It must have been difficult for David in particular. He was all geared up to meet the King and then he got that curveball thrown into his day,” an insider said.

Although David rubbed shoulders with King Charles and Queen Consort, Camilla, he missed the opportunity to catch up with his son, who had flown the 5,000 miles from his and Nicola’s home in the US for Nicola to do a modelling shoot in South Kensington, London. The location was half a mile – just five minutes – from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

The source told Mail Online : “Brooklyn didn’t even bother to let his parents know that he was going to be in London, it’s as shocking as it is upsetting for them… It came out of the blue when word got around that Nicola had put an Instagram post up. Then it started to get back through various friends that they were doing a shoot.”

It is understood Brooklyn and Nicola, who tied the knot in 2022, stayed the night in a hotel on Park Lane but still didn’t meet David on Tuesday before their flight back to California.

It is the latest blow to David in the bitter family dispute, which reportedly left wife Victoria, 51, having sleepless nights this month. The fashion designer has experienced her “worst nightmare” due to the feud, an insider had said. They added: “This is Victoria’s worst nightmare. The thought of any of her children falling out gives her sleepless nights.”

But defiant David, who played more than 200 times for manchester-united-fc>Manchester United, beamed with smiles as he talked to the monarch at the garden show on Monday. The Queen also appeared to get on incredibly well with Becks. The King and Queen are understood to have sent the sports icon a birthday gift, with Charles asking him “You got it, didn’t you?” And David replied: “It was incredible, thank you, it was very kind.” Later Camilla said: “Nice to see you again, glad you got the roses.”
