Coronation Street actor Wes Fuller is played by comedian and Britain’s Got Talent hopeful Kevin Finn and he takes a key role in tonight’s episode

Wes is part of a huge new storyline
Coronation Street’s Wes Fuller takes a key role in tonight’s episode of Coronation Street. However, acting isn’t his first hit at fame as he’s a comedian and has also appeared on Britain’s Got Talent.
Wes’ appearance in the show comes amid a huge storyline for Dee-Dee as she fights for justice. Dee-Dee believes the treatment she received in hospital on giving birth to her baby wasn’t right, as the new storyline discusses racial injustice in maternity care.
Last month, Dee-Dee went into labour but she was sent home from the hospital despite suffering extreme pain. Her waters broke and she went back to hospital but there was a number of delays, resulting in her being rushed for emergency delivery.
In all that’s happening, Dee-Dee suffered a huge haemorrhage and had to undergo life changing surgery. She has decided to lodge a formal complaint with the hospital and has been supported by her friends.

Wes takes a key role in tonight’s episode of Coronation Street, as investigations begin. Asha heads round to see Dee-Dee and asks her to think about whether she really wants to complain as it could ruin Zoe’s career.
However, Dee-Dee is adamant she needs to follow through and later bumps into Wes on the street and recognises him from the hospital, but is totally unaware that he is Zoe’s brother.
Wes – who plays a key role in this new storyline – is actually a comedian and even appeared on last year’s Britain’s Got Talent. However, it didn’t go too well – as Simon Cowell actually pressed his buzzer during the performance.
“Look, I’m sorry I pressed the buzzer. Like I said before, we feed off the audience. When a comedian is working, you can feel it within about 10 seconds. Without being rude, the audition felt like it went on forever. And it didn’t start well, the end maybe was better but honestly you’re going to be disappointed I think when you watch this back because you’re better than that,” he said.

Channique Sterling-Brown said of the big scenes: “We’ve worked with some brilliant organisations and charities who were really great at advising on this story. I got to speak to a woman who had a real lived experience of this, and her story is not dissimilar to what happens to Dee Dee. It was emotional to hear her story and just finding the truth in that as well. Many of the conversations have been really hard but really helpful to hear what some women went through.
“The story we’re trying to tell is one of truth. I don’t think there is any malice in any of Dee Dee’’s treatment. But it is a case of her being on an overstretched and understaffed Ward. She’s not being fully heard because of assumptions that are potentially being made.”
She added: “I also think she maybe is a little bit in denial, because I don’t think she’s probably quite ready to have the baby. It just ends up in a bit of an amalgamation of her pain being dismissed, and suddenly finding herself in a severe situation and she is really scared.
“Basically, everything is, all systems go in terms of getting the baby out as quickly and safely as possible. But it’s really frightening how quickly that develops, and how, if someone had intervened a bit sooner and picked up on those symptoms a bit sooner. It might have meant that such drastic measures wouldn’t have needed to be taken.”
