A Coronation Street star will be heading back to the cobbles after 25 years – but he’ll be playing a new character rather than going back to his previous role

A Coronation Street star will be returning back to the cobbles after 25 years – but with a whole new name. Dominic Rickhards is known to Corrie fans for his role as occupational therapist Michael Wall, which he played intermittently for two and a half years.
He’ll be remembered for being the man responsible for the break down of Liz and Jim McDonald’s break-up in the nineties, and breaking hearts around the country. Michael struck up an affair with Liz after becoming close friends and supporting Jim. It came after Jim was pushed off scaffolding by his son Steve McDonald. The injury left him in a wheelchair and unable to look after himself.
However, next week he’ll be playing a whole new character – Dom Norwood. Daisy Midgeley and her mum Christina have recently been catfishing Jenny, and next week, charming Dom will make his entrance. However, Jenny is unaware he’s been hired by Christina as part of their “revenge plot” against the Rovers landlady.

Dom will enter as Jenny’s ‘new love interest’
Upon his arrival, Dom informs Jenny that he wants her to invest in his business that he plans to sell, as Daisy and Christina set their eyes on the money.
Later on Daisy and Christina are shocked to realise Dom spent the night with Jenny. So when Daniel Osbourne spots Christina and Dom together at the hotel, will he work out their link and what’s really going on with Jenny?

Since leaving the cobbles in 2020 after his character and Liz decided to break off their engagement, Dominic hasn’t turned away from soaps. He’s appeared in Liverpool based Hollyoaks, as well as landing roles in Waking the Dead and Midsomer Murders.
Dom’s entrance will tie in with Daisy’s exit storyline after actress Charlotte Jordan announced she’d be stepping back from the soap after five years. Charlotte joined the cast of the soap in 2020, but has announced that after four years she has decided to “explore other opportunities.”
Earlier this year, Charlotte said: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.”
During her time on the cobbles, Charlotte’s character Daisy has been central to a blackmail plot, and was stalked by Justin Rutherford, which culminated in Daisy and Ryan being the victims of an acid attack.
