Coronation Street fans ‘rumble’ devastating Lisa twist after brutal Craig attack

Coronation Street fans think a heartbreaking new scene is on the way for DS Lisa Swain after a moment with Craig Tinker on Monday, before his brutal attack on the ITV soap

There could be a sad new plot on the way for Coronation Street’s Lisa Swain in the fallout to Craig Tinker’s brutal attack.

PC Tinker, played by actor Colson Smith, was violently attacked and left for dead by villain Mick Michaelis on Monday night. The police officer had tried to arrest the character only for him to launch an attack on him with a wooden bat.

As Craig saw Mick with the weapon he went to draw his police baton, but Mick slammed the bat against the officer’s head. Craig dropped to the ground and was left lifeless, as Mick drove off and left him to die.

His fate now remains unknown, with Craig set to bow out in scenes later this week. With it not known whether he lives or dies, fans are fearing he’s about to be killed off.

Whether he does die or not, some viewers are predicting a new plot for Lisa that will see the attack impact her heavily. She was seen encouraging her colleague in the latest episode, after he was called out by their colleague Kit Green.

Craig was meant to be shadowing the detective amid his bids for a promotion, but Kit, caught up in his drama with Mick, soon lashed out. He told Craig he’d never make it or get anywhere in his career, suggesting he wasn’t good enough.

Craig was hurt by this, but Lisa soon backed him and offered some advice. She told him Kit had likely been told the same when he was on placement, and might be trying to push Craig to do the best he can.

She told her colleague that the best thing to do would be to prove Kit wrong by going out there and being the best officer he can be. Lisa encouraged him to get out there and do the job, and Craig agreed with her, clearly appreciating the support as Lisa questioned what Kit had told him.

So much so that later in the episode, as Craig was out trying to solve crimes, he left his boss a voicemail. He’d tried to call her but she rejected the call, having absolutely no idea what was about to happen.

Craig told her: “It’s only me, I wanted to say I am sorry for losing it earlier. I just want you to know you’re right, I need to get out, be bolder and prove I’m a good officer. And you’re right, I will make DC one day. Thanks again.”

With Lisa not taking the call and not listening to the message before the attack, fans now think that once she finds out what has happened to Craig she will listen to the message. Viewers believe in heartbreaking scenes the detective might blame herself for what has happened, but also feel guilty for ignoring what could be his final call.

Taking to social media one fan said: “LISA WILL FIND THE VOICEMAIL FROM CRAIG AFTER HE DIES, THEN SHE’LL FEEL GUILTY SHE DECLINED THE CALL.” Another said: “Craig’s final voicemail is gonna break Lisa & Vicky Myers is gonna break us when she portrays it on screen!”

A third fan said: “Craig’s voicemail, oh Lisa is going to blame herself isn’t she.” This was echoed by a fourth fan who wrote: “Those words are gonna haunt Lisa for a long time.”
