Alison Hammond forced to pull out of This Morning hours before going live

This Morning’s Alison Hammond has been forced to pull out of the show hours before she was set to go live as ITV have announced her last minute replacement

Alison Hammond has been forced to pull out of This Morning just hours before she was set to go live on air this morning.

The former Big Brother star usually presents the show on Friday with Dermot O’Leary – but took to Instagram this morning to reveal she has to pull out due to bad hayfever. Lisa Snowdon will be stepping in and joining Dermot live at 10.

Alison made the announcement via her Instagram story this morning, announcing: “I’ve put a filter on this because I look so rough.”

Sounding congested, the 50-year-old continued: “I’ve had the worst hayfever for the last 2-3 days. It’s hit me like a bus.

“I’m just letting you know that I’m not going to be making This Morning today but the lovely Lisa Snowdon is going to be stepping into my shoes and looking after my lovely Dermot.”

Alison then reassured fans that she was fine, confirming that she’d be back next week as she showed her fans all the medication she had been taking in hopes of getting better.

The star was announced as This Morning’s Friday presenter in November 2020 and has been a hit with audiences ever since.

However, her debut on the ITV show came on 31 January 2003 which saw her rolling around on a bed to put a mattress to the test.

She became a hit and went on to interview some of the most famous faces on the planet including Ryan Gosling and Beyoncé – and even managed to make Harrison Ford laugh live on air.

And who can forget her marriage (and divorce) with The Rock…

Speaking on her Friday presenting role alongside Dermot when it was first announced, Alison said: “I never dreamt that when I first joined This Morning – initially for a few months – that I would still be there 19 years later.”

Since rising to fame Alison has appeared on a number of shows including I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2010 and Strictly Come Dancing in Strictly Come Dancing in 2014, partnering with the 2013 champion Aljaž Škorjanec.
