Nolan Brothers Finally Take the Stage: A Long-Awaited Spotlight for the Unsung Anchors of a Musical Dynasty

It took more than five decades, but the moment finally came.
In a heartwarming and nostalgic appearance on Loose Women, Brian and Tommy Nolan—better known as “the brothers” behind the legendary Nolan Sisters—stepped into the limelight, charming the audience with their sharp wit, touching memories, and unshakeable sibling bond.
While the world has long celebrated the musical success of Coleen, Linda, Bernie, Maureen, Denise, and Anne, few outside close circles have heard the full story of the men who helped hold the family together behind the scenes.

Fame Deferred, Not Denied
Introduced with a thunderous round of applause and cheeky old photos, Brian and Tommy stood smiling, humble as ever.
“You always hear about the sisters, the sisters,” said the show’s host. “But today, it’s the brothers’ turn.”
Tommy, the elder of the two, joked:
“We’ve been waiting about 50 years for this invite. I thought we’d be on after Songs of Praise, but this’ll do.”
Brian quipped back, “Better late than never, love.”
The crowd roared. It was clear—these two had been born for the stage, even if life had pulled them behind the curtain.
Big Family, Bigger Heart
The Nolan household was a force of nature—ten children, Irish roots, and a father who worked in clubs while managing the family’s early performances.
At one point, the entire clan—parents included—performed as a family act on the Blackpool scene, before the sisters were plucked from the act by a hotelier turned talent scout who whisked them away to London and into pop stardom.
Tommy recalled, “They were offered a five-year contract. We, being such astute businessmen, said ‘Nah, we’ll stay in Blackpool.’”
Brian interjected, “Well, I was in love at the time. Or at least she told me I was engaged.”
The audience was in stitches.

Colleen’s Confession
Colleen, the show’s regular and star sibling, couldn’t hold back her laughter and affection.
“I went back to live with the boys when I was 13. Just us three for a couple of years. They absolutely spoiled me rotten.”
She recounted cheeky teenage years, being told off by her brothers for coming home late from school, demanding cups of tea, and feeling utterly protected.
“They’re the funniest, best brothers you could ask for,” she said, fighting back emotion.
Loyalty Beyond the Spotlight
Despite being overshadowed by their sisters’ fame, the brothers never expressed bitterness. Instead, their bond as a family grew stronger—even as the girls took to international tours and TV stardom.
Brian and Tommy remained the quiet pillars of support.
“We all still live within a quarter of a mile of each other,” Brian revealed. “It might sound strange, but for us, it’s just how it’s always been.”
This closeness was palpable—not just in geography, but in warmth, timing, and humour that only lifelong family can share.
The Road Not Taken
When asked why they didn’t follow their sisters into the spotlight, the brothers responded with classic Nolan humility.
“It wasn’t for us,” said Tommy. “Besides, someone had to mind the fort—and the fiancées.”
One of them, apparently, was engaged “without knowing it,” which led to another round of laughter. “She knew, her mum knew… just no one told me.”
A Birthday Full of Meaning
The segment was part of a celebration for Colleen’s 60th birthday. And for her, having her brothers finally beside her on national TV was more than just a surprise—it was a tribute to the love and laughter that built the Nolan legacy.
“I’ve done big tours, telly, everything—but nothing has made me smile quite like seeing you two sitting here today.”
Brian replied gently, “Well, I had my 60th about three years ago, so I suppose it’s my turn next.”
Tommy smirked: “I’m not coming on unless there’s champagne.”
The Legacy They Never Asked For—But Deserve
In an era of fleeting fame and self-promotion, the Nolan brothers remind us of something quieter, deeper: that legacy isn’t just built on lights and cameras, but on sacrifice, stability, and showing up when no one’s watching.
They may have waited 50 years, but their time in the spotlight—however brief—felt earned, overdue, and warmly deserved.
Colleen, teary-eyed, ended with a whisper:
“Absolutely love you both.”
