Victoria and David Beckham’s ultimate revenge on Meghan Markle & Prince Harry – and it’s left the Sussexes ‘humiliated’

THERE has been rumours of a rift between the Beckhams and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry – and a recent move could have soured relations further.

The footballing legend and his glamorous wife were pictured last week with former US president Barack Obama at a charitable event.

According to an insider, Victoria’s former pal Meghan, who is said to have “political ambitions”, was less than thrilled with the alliance and the Beckhams’ “stateside takeover.”

Speaking to Closer, they claimed: “Seeing the Beckhams involved with the Obamas’ foundation leaves Meghan seething.

“It’s another humiliating slap in the face. The Obamas were Meghan’s dream ticket to political success and she put a lot of work into building on their relationship.

“Now, seeing the Beckhams enjoy that access has really set Meghan off and she’s taking it personally.

“She feels like the Beckhams have targeted and taken over what had been her own big plan.”

Prince Harry and David have enjoyed a close friendship over the years, but cracks have formed in the last few years.

The Duke of Sussex allegedly called David to accuse him and his wife Victoria of leaking stories, leaving David ‘furious.’

David was also “snubbed” by Harry after flying for 22 hours from London to Sydney at the royal’s request, for the 2018 Invictus Games.

Cracks first started emerging in the pair’s friendship last spring when the former footballer invited Prince William and Kate to his son Brooklyn’s wedding – and not Harry and Meghan.

At the time, a source said: “David’s attachment and history go back with William and Kate and they have a very strong relationship and they were their choice of wedding guests. It was always about them, it was never about Meghan and Harry.

“They are the people David and Victoria are attached to and it’s always been about them because they’ve had a long history together.”

And perhaps it wasn’t a coincidence that after the apparent snub, Meghan, 42, seemingly stopped wearing Victoria’s designs – while Kate wore them more frequently.

She wore one of the designer’s dresses to an engagement in January and was spotted donning a pair of VB glasses at Wimbledon over the summer.

She even reintroduced a Victoria Beckham bag to her wardrobe – taking the white Quincy tote out on a royal visit in May, the first time she had been seen with it since 2016.

Since the Beckhams have appeared to further distance themselves from the Sussexes, a royal expert has claimed the move has strengthened David’s friendship with Prince William and the King.

Sarah Hewson, royal editor of Talk TV, said: “Perhaps by distancing himself from Harry and Meghan, it has helped David cement his relationships with William and the King. After all, he is due to meet with Charles for dinner soon. I think David has made it very clear whose side he is on.

“David is a self proclaimed royalist.

“He queued for 12 hours to see the Queen lying in State and he has worked with the royals on several charitable campaigns.”

In the past, the Sussexes have claimed to be close to the Obamas, and Barack, back in 2016, supported Prince Harry in a jokey promotion for the Invictus Games.

It has been claimed Meghan also has political ambitions, and earlier this year it was revealed she paid nearly £90,000 to Michelle Obama’s ex press chief for “strategic support for social impact PR”.

Meghan’s biographer and friend, Omid Scobie, has previously said that the former Suits actress “has her eyes set on the US presidency”.

However, it is thought that Barack and Michelle wanted to take a “step back” from the couple out of respect for the Queen.

They first met Her Majesty back in 2009 at the G20 summit, and in 2011 she hosted them on a three-day State visit.

Former US President Barack Obama marked his 60th with a three-day bash and a guest list that included “royalty” from Hollywood and politics, but Meghan and Harry were allegedly not on the list.

When asked about Harry and Meghan’s bombshell interview about the Royal Family with Oprah, Michelle said: “I just pray that there is forgiveness and there is clarity and love and resolve at some point in time, because there’s nothing more important than family.”
