Spice Girls confirm 2019 reunion tour without Victoria Beckham

The 90s is the new retro and it is all pre-millennium all over again.

Spice Girls back

The Spice Girls have announced they are back with their first tour for a decade.

Six UK stadium dates in June 2019 are confirmed.

No Victoria Beckham

However, it will not be a quintet as Victoria Beckham will not be taking part.

This leaves Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Melanie Chisholm.

The press release said Victoria would not join the girls on tour due to “business commitments”.

She runs a multi-million pound fashion label.

In a statement, Victoria said: “Being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish my girls so much love and fun as they go back on tour, I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time!”

Announcement on social media

Details of the reunion tour was revealed in a video on social media on Monday, Nov. 6, 2018.

The video is in the style of a news bulletin, before the foursome break out into song.

World tour to follow

The group will kick off the tour at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium on June 1, 2019, with tickets for all dates going on sale on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018.

They will also perform in Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh and Bristol, finishing at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Mel B also announced on Monday that there would also be a world tour to follow, adding that she still hoped Victoria would feature in some of the shows.

“It’s just the four of us that are fully confirmed, but Vic might join us at some point,” Mel B said. “It’d be a shame if she didn’t.”

Hint of reunion

In February, the five members posted a photo to social media, saying they were planning on new projects together.

Rumours began circulating with suggestions it could be a new tour or record.

The last performance as a fivesome was at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The Spice Girls split in 2000 after performing for two years as a four piece, following Geri’s departure.

All five returned for a reunion tour in 2007.
