Nick Knowles has revealed he is ‘gutted’ to have missed out on Strictly Come Dancing as he watched Saturday night’s show on crutches.

The DIY SOS star, 62, missed out on Movie Week, just a week after his future on the show was thrown into doubt due to an injury.

But during a dress rehearsal of his Charleston on Friday, Nick fell and injured his knee during a jump, leaving him on crutches and heading to hospital for an MRI scan.

He wrote on X: ‘Gutted not to be out there with everyone tonight on the dance floor, but still suited up and cheering them on from the sofa!’

At the top of the show, hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman updated viewers on the situation as he and his partner partner Luba Mushtuk were granted a free pass to the next round of the competition.

Tess said: ‘As you can see, Nick Knowles and his partner Luba are not here. In rehearsals, Nick sustained an injury and is not able to perform tonight’.

Claudia added: ‘As per the rules of the competition, he will receive a bye into next week’s show.’

Claudia also sent her love to Nick on behalf of the whole team and wished him a ‘speedy recovery’, to which she was met with a round of applause.

Nick was also flooded with well-wishes on his social media. with fans rushing to send him get well soon messages.

One wrote: ‘Gutted for you – glad to see you supporting them! x’

Another said: ‘So sorry you’re not dancing tonight and I really hope your knee can heal in time to have you back next week.

‘We don’t want to lose you! You are looking very smart there!’

A third wrote: ‘So sorry you are injured and unable to dance. Rest up and wishing you a speedy recovery’

Earlier this week, a Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Unfortunately, Nick Knowles sustained an injury during rehearsals and as a result, will not dance this weekend.

‘As per the rules of the competition, Nick and Luba will receive a bye through to next week when he is hopefully able to dance again. Everyone at Strictly Come Dancing wishes Nick a speedy recovery.’

A source also told The Sun: ‘Nick won’t be able to take part in Strictly tomorrow night after hurting his knee. He was in a dress rehearsal and with his partner Luba Mushtuk when he did a jump and landed awkwardly.

‘Nick has hurt his knee and is having to use crutches to get around now. It is such a devastating blow for him and he is being supported by the Strictly team.
