Netflix viewers have been left confused after hearing David Beckham’s voice.

The Manchester United legend, 48, has been in the news lately following the launch of his highly anticipated documentary on the streaming service.

Beckham gives fans an insight into his illustrious successful playing career and his marriage to former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham – which thrust them both into the spotlight.

Since dropping, it has been met with critical praise from fans and critics.

But viewers have been left baffled by one aspect of the documentary… Beckham’s voice.

Despite being one of the world’s most recognisable sporting stars, not many people have actually heard the Inter Miami owner’s voice before.

Reacting on social media, viewers shared their shock and disbelief at how he sounds.

“I just heard David Beckham’s voice for the first time. Man, that did not match up with what I always imagined,” writes one person.

Someone else comments: “I don’t know what I thought David Beckham’s voice sounded like but it wasn’t this.”

Another viewer writes: “My husband always said ‘god really gave such good looks to David Beckham to compensate for his voice’. After watching this video, I just had to agree.”

A fourth person adds: “Is anyone else still so shocked to hear the voice that comes out when David Beckham speaks? I don’t know what I thought he sounded like but it’s not that.”

While a fifth viewer pens: “It always surprises me the way David Beckham’s voice doesn’t match his face.”

Beckham is directed by Fisher Stevens – who is best known for working on the Emmy award-winning series Succession – and the former Real Madrid midfielder knew that he would be the perfect man to work on his documentary as he could ‘tell his story in a different way’.

Speaking to Netflix’s Skip Intro podcast, Beckham explained that he always intended to make a life documentary and felt this year was ideal as it has been 10 years since he retired from playing football.

He explained: “This is such a personal thing to me, and when I sat down with my team and said, ‘OK, this is what we’re going to do, and this is how we’re going to do it’. it was really important that we got the right director.

“So I kept on looking and asking people, and I’ve got a couple of people and close friends that are in the movie business, in the documentary world, and one of my closest friends turned around to me and said, ‘Fisher Stevens, that’s the guy’.”

In addition to Beckham’s family talking in the documentary, some huge names who had significant impacts on his life also appear – including former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, former teammates Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Rio Ferdinand, and Victoria’s bandmate Mel C.
