Messi and Suarez’s absence from the MLS All-Star game (taking place at 7am on July 25 and accompanying events) gives them valuable time to enjoy a well-deserved vacation,
after playing continuously from the beginning of the year until the Copa America that just ended recently.

with 53 points after 25 matches, will also have a short break before returning to play the Leagues Cup group stage matches from July 28.

Many people were surprised to see Messi still wearing protection on his injured right ankle while on vacation, despite his rapid recovery. According to Marca (Spain): “The fact that Messi is still wearing protection on his ankle does not mean that his injury is more serious than expected. It is just a precautionary measure, to avoid collisions and will help the injury recover on schedule”.
Messi and Suarez are expected to return to play for Inter Miami from early August, possibly in the Leagues Cup group stage matches.
Meanwhile, Messi’s long-time rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, is also having a long vacation with his family in an area on the Red Sea, before returning to focus on Al Nassr Club to compete in the Saudi Pro League (Saudi Arabia).
Ronaldo and the Portuguese team said goodbye early in the quarter-finals of EURO 2024. The 39-year-old player determined that it would be the last EURO of his career, but left open the possibility of retirement. He will still play with Al Nassr in the 2024-2025 season, and is ready to negotiate a contract extension until June 2026. It is likely that Ronaldo still intends to play for the Portuguese team in the 2026 World Cup, when he is 41 years old.
