Susanna Reid was quick to remind Martin Lewis to regain his composure after the presenter lost his temper on live TV as he discussed the Winter Fuel Payment cut with Lisa Nandy.
The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport was a guest on ITV’s Good Morning Britain this Wednesday as Martin Lewis demanded answers on the new measure, which has sparked outrage throughout the nation as it could leave many pensioners in a vulnerable position.
Martin, 52, was determined to get to the bottom of things this Wednesday morning as he grilled Lisa Nandy over the government’s intention to make payments means tested. But as he did so, his emotions seemed to get the better of him as he swore on live TV, before immediately apologising.

Martin’s slip-up and clear emotion triggered a wave of reactions over on social media, particularly on Twitter, now X. “Well done Martin that’s the most interesting informative interview I’ve seen on gmb in years she was clueless and unprepared as expected”, one of them penned. And many others followed suit as they reacted to the awkward exchange.
Another praised the journalist as they wrote: “Martin Lewis absolutely schooling Lisa Nandy on #GMB. She doesn’t accept that removing the winter fuel allowance from our poorest pensioners was a huge misstep. Oh how we have missed our journalists holding politicians feet to the fire. Well done Martin.”
A third joined in: “Martin Lewis just tore Lisa nandy apart”, just as a fourth commented: “Lisa nandy getting ripped apart by Martin Lewis.” One final TV fan had a request as they pleaded for Martin to become a more regular fixture on the breakfast show: “Can we have Martin Lewis as the male anchor @GMB. Please? The most versatile, informed, funny, interesting of the other two. Thanks.”
This comes after Susanna Reid welcomed the money-saving expert back to Good Morning Britain this Wednesday, after hosting the show with Ed Balls earlier in the week. ntroducing the show, Susanna said: “Martin, it’s wonderful to have you back in the studio!” Smiling at his co-star, he informed her: “It’s wallet Wednesday.”
The GMB host informed viewers Martin was on the show for an important reason as he was going to be helping people with their energy bills. Susanna highlighted he was only on the programme two weeks ago, however, the energy price cap has now risen by 10%.
Martin replied: “I wasn’t quite sure we’d be doing this but there’s a lot that’s changed.” During the programme, the money-saving expert helped three viewers live on air who came into the studio.
