There could be a sad death on Emmerdale soon if the latest episode is anything to go by, after some worrying comments.

Billy Fletcher will no doubt spark fears he’s being killed off and could die in tragic scenes, after a twist on Wednesday night. His big secret was exposed to two village residents, with him also left with a nasty injury.

One character warned that any future incidents could see him lose his life, as his pal Mackenzie Boyd feared for his safety. Billy had pretended to wife Dawn Taylor that he and Mack were heading to Bradford to check out a car he might purchase.

But Mack had no idea what he meant and soon Billy fled, only to show up outside his house hours later covered in blood and bruises. As Mack got him inside, Billy refused to see a doctor or go to a hospital.

Mack told him he was in a bad way so Billy allowed him to call paramedic and former army medic John Sugden, for him to check him over. As John demanded answers, Billy confirmed what he’d been hiding and what had led to the injuries.

Billy confirmed that he’s secretly been taking part in underground boxing to earn extra cash. The unlicensed matches are unregulated and the rules are very different to those of a licensed match, hence Billy’s worrying injuries.

Billy hinted he had been stabbed in the match while he said it was an accident. He claimed when he was body slammed he felt something sharp hit him, while he added it wasn’t normally like this.

Downplaying his injuries, Billy admitted he planned to compete in more fights and that he wasn’t usually harmed. But as John assessed him, he warned another fight could lead to him dying.

There were hints about his current injury not being treated with the care needed as he avoided going to the hospital. John warned Billy he was at high risk of infection and that he shouldn’t rush back into the ring, as “one misplaced punch and not even a hospital will be able to save him”.

Mack repeated this terrifying admission warning Billy he could die. Billy told his friend the people he was dealing with her dangerous, and later in the episode he received a voice message from someone offering him double pay if he fights again.

But there were other comments such as John asking for an update on Billy’s injury and Mack saying “he thought he was a goner”, not to mention Billy’s claim that “they can’t get rid of him that easily”, that massively teased a death. Did the shock scenes foreshadow heartbreak ahead, and could the new plot lead to Billy’s demise?
