With important names like Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi missing from the starting roster,

Inter Miami was defeated 1-6 by Cincinnati in a Major League Soccer (MLS) match at the sold-out TQL Stadium in front of a 25,513 crowd.

With Messi busy representing his national team of Argentina which has reached the semifinals of the Copa America,

Inter Milan suffered its most dramatic loss yet since the club was founded six years ago.

Despite the tournament happening in the US, MLS has decided not to pause its competition,

leading to Inter Milan’s record number of most goals conceded in their history following the previous defeat record of 0-5 to the New England Revolution three years ago.

Cincinnati is in the lead of the Eastern Conference with 48 points. Inter Miami is ranked second with 47 points.

YUYA KUBO SCORED TWO GOALS

Japanese forward Yuya Kubo scored first in the 10th minute, and had another excellent scoring performance in the 57th minute.

Argentine Luciano Acosta (pictured), a player poised to repeat as MLS MVP, also scored once in the 36th minute and provided two valuable assists.

Additional goals were scored by Cincinnati’s Pavel Buča just two minutes after Acosta’s accomplishment, Yamil Asad four minutes in the first half’s overtime and Geraldo Valenzuela in the 72nd minute.

Inter Milan’s only goal was scored by Sergej Krivcov in the 21st minute.

While the equalizer goal brought a spark of hope at 1-1, Sergio Busquets’ sent-off in the 62nd minute resulted in his side playing with 10 players.

This made Inter Miami’s brief burst of optimism quickly fleet as Cincinnati wasted no time stepping up their offensive game and wreaking havoc on the scoreboard.

The score also marked a record for the Orange and Blue, which managed to equal the highest number of goals scored during a single game since 2019, when they joined MLS.

The last time Cincinnati scored six goals was in a match against San Jose Earthquakes on September 10, 2022.
