Gary Neville was the only one in the team who prevented David Beckham from leaving MU… He was once boycotted by his teammates? (video)

Former Manchester United star Gary Neville has revealed that he tried to convince David Beckham to stay at Old Trafford before the England midfielder joined Real Madrid shortly afterwards.

Beckham is one of the greatest players in Manchester’s history. He broke into the first team in the early 1990s, helping the Red Devils win six Premier League titles and one Champions League.

In 2003, the former England international left United to join Los Blancos.

“I remember when Beckham was about to leave, he whispered something in my ear towards the end of the game. Beckham hinted that United were planning to sell him,” Neville told Sky Sports.

“At the time, both Real Madrid and Barcelona were interested in him. I told Beckham to extend his contract and he would stay at United.

However, he wanted to leave the club to seek new experiences,” Neville continued.

“Beckham has always had a good vision for the future, there was no conflict when he left Old Trafford. I think it was the right decision for both parties, Beckham and Man United. However, to be honest, I felt that my ‘clique’ had disintegrated,”

“I told Beckham to stay but he always had his own opinions, his own thoughts and made decisions based on his own circumstances,” Neville concluded.
