EastEnders clues 'confirm' Linda Carter dies at Christmas after funeral twist

EastEnders could be airing scenes of Linda Carter’s ‘death’ as pictures showed a few clues as the cast gathered for a funeral.

The cast and crew have been busy filming the BBC One soap’s festive episodes and photos showed the cast getting together for a funeral. Linda Carter, played by Kellie Bright, is conspicuously absent from the set, sparking speculation that her character may be the one who has passed away.

In the pictures taken on the set shared online, a few clues point towards Linda possibly being the person dying. Maddy Hill and Danny Hatchard were seen on set as they reprise their roles as Nancy and Lee Carter for the funeral, which is presumably for a loved one. Others in attendance included Johnny Carter and Elaine Peacock.

However, Linda isn’t seen in the snaps. Not only is she absent, but Nancy is seen wearing flamingo earrings – which is a staple of Linda’s eclectic wardrobe making fans worry that the landlady could be the person set to die in the Christmas episodes. Elaine (played by Harriet Thorped) is also wearing pink accessories.

Letitia Dean, who plays Linda’s best friend Sharon Watts, is also seen in the snaps shared with The Sun. The cast – including Lee’s character Danny Hatchard – carried the coffin, with a pink flower on top, inside the church. One dramatic moment from the snaps shows Nancy slapping grandmother Elaine. Lee and Callum Highway also escort an inebriated Johnny away from the church.

However, the snaps could simply be a purposeful misdirection from the EastEnders production team, to stop viewers from guessing what could happen. This week, EastEnders fans started wondering about a potential Christmas death with Kellie posting a snap of herself holding a pot with the words ‘The End’ at the bottom of it.

One fan said on social media: “Nancy in her flamingo earrings…em this is not looking good. I will not cope if it’s Linda dying at Xmas,” while one posted: “Hope it’s not what we’re predicting.” Another fan commented: “Lee and Nancy coming back and Nancy slapping elaine… shes dying from alcohol/liver failure isnt she.”

Of course, it wouldn’t be the first, and just a year ago we saw Linda murder Keanu in a dramatic plot with The Six. Keanu isn’t the only one to have met a grisly end on this day, with other Christmas victims including Archie Mitchell and Jamie Mitchell as well as Pauline Fowler. The festive period including New Year has seen further deaths over the years too including Dennis Rickman, Ronnie and Roxy Mitchell and Kevin Wicks.

Amid Zack Hudson actor James Farrar telling The Mirror that this year’s New Year is “unbelievable”, a new clue about the set has left some viewers speculating someone will die.

While we know Nish Panesar is likely to be killed off soon, fans are convinced this will happen around Halloween. The show featured a shake-up on set this week with an update of how it’s looking ahead of Christmas.
