David Beckham gifts Idris Elba a personalised Inter Miami shirt as British star watches MLS side beat rivals Atlanta United 2-1

The latest Inter Miami match came down to The Wire on Saturday – quite literally, as British star Idris Elba made an appearance at Fort Lauderdale’s Chase Stadium.

The actor, who found fame as feared drug dealer Russell ‘Stringer’ Bell in the cult HBO series, joined club CEO David Beckham in the stands as they beat Eastern Conference rivals Atlanta United 2-1.

A jubilant Beckham, 49, later shared a photo of himself alongside Elba, 52, as they brandished one of the club’s famous flamingo pink home shirts, personalised with the actor’s surname.

Captioning the Instagram post, he wrote: ‘Great night to start the play offs… a hard fought win in front of our fans and friends.

‘Thank you to all of our special guests for coming to watch Miami and thank you to La Familia for bringing the noise like you always do. On to Game 2…’
