David Beckham empathizes with what Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are facing because he has experienced similar things (video)

David Beckham has compared the brutal treatment his wife Victoria endured at his football games to the nasty comments Taylor Swift receives at Travis Kelce’s games.

Victoria, 50, revealed in her husband’s recent documentary she was left ‘hurt and embarrassed’ when she was taunted at husband David’s football games.

The Spice Girl recalled the abuse she received as she spoke about dating the footballer after fans turned on him in the aftermath of the 1998 World Cup.

David, 49, was blamed for England’s defeat after lashing out at Diego Simeone, sparking a horrific campaign of hate and abuse from fans.

On Thursday, David fronted an Emmy Extra Edition cover of VARIETY and discussed the negative treatment of women dating a famous athlete.

As shown in the coverage of Taylor Swift at Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games.

He said: ‘Hopefully that’s improved. It’s ridiculous that we’re even talking about it.

‘I think back in the day with Victoria going to games, the fans were quite brutal. They sang songs about her. But I’m sure Taylor’s strong enough to handle whatever.’

Elsewhere, on an apology note David and Victoria found on their car following the release of his BECKHAM documentary, he said: ‘It read, “We’re sorry how you were treated.” I’ve got the letter still. But that’s how people, I think, felt after the documentary.’

It comes after David confessed in his Netflix documentary BECKHAM: ‘They start singing songs about Victoria.

‘There was one song she’d kill me for singing – every football fan sang this song…’

Victoria then jumped in to reveal the taunt was: ‘P osh Spice takes it up the a**e.’

She continued: ‘Excuse my language, not very ladylike. But 75,000 people singing that, it’s embarrassing, it’s hurtful.

‘I remember sitting down and the lady next to me turned and she didn’t know what to say, she said “do you want a polo?”

‘Because what do you say when you sit next to someone and 75,000 people have been saying you take it up the a**e?’

Discussing the ongoing abuse she continued: ‘We did not know what to do. It felt like we were drowning.’

Yet David reasoned: ‘As horrible as it was to look up at Victoria in the stand, actually it was the one thing that spurred me on.

‘When fans thought they could get to me by singing about my family I ended up scoring a goal.’

Elsewhere during his Variety interview, David disappointed Spice Girl fans by confirming they will not reunite.

It comes after the popular band officially reunited while celebrating Victoria Beckham’s 50th birthday in London.

The British girl group – which was formed back in 1994 – consists of Beckham, Mel B, Melanie C, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell.

During the lavish festivities, all five of the Spice Girls came together to sing one of their hit tracks, Stop, for the star-studded guests – which was all caught on camera by David.

However, David told the publication: ‘Unfortunately, that’s not happening. Victoria was so pleased to see the girls, and it was a massive part of her life, the girls, but obviously, all the girls have got their own things going on.

‘They will do certain things together at certain times. But Victoria’s full on with her beauty and fashion businesses. If anyone’s busier than me, it’s her.’

Football legend David is married to former Spice Girl Victoria and they share four children – Brooklyn, 25, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 19, and Harper, 12.

The four-part series saw the Beckhams’ give an intimate insight into their marriage and early romance, their family life, as well as charting David’s footballing career.

His documentary amassed a record breaking 3.8million viewers during its premiere week.

According to the Broadcasters Audience Research Board (BARB), the first episode saw 3,813,100 fans tune in.

The second instalment was also a success reaching 2,868,800 viewers by the week ending October 8.

BECKHAM was the streaming service’s topped watched show for two weeks when it was released, with 11,600,000 fans watching globally, according to Netflix’s own data.
