David Beckham and Gary Neville both said the same thing about the ‘passionate’ Man City star under Pep Guardiola

Neville spent his entire playing career at Old Trafford under legendary former manager Ferguson and enjoyed a prolific spell at the Red Devils.

The 49-year-old Sky Sports pundit served as captain after Roy Keane’s departure and lifted eight Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues with United.

Beckham, much like Neville, had incredible success during his time at Old Trafford and thrived under the tutelage of United legend Ferguson.

The 49-year-old was one of the most feared wingers the Premier League has ever seen, with Beckham excelling thanks to his remarkable range and crossing ability.

Beckham shot to superstardom during his illustrious spell at United and lifted six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy under Ferguson.

David Beckham and Gary Neville were both key members of the iconic Manchester United team that won a famous treble under Sir Alex Ferguson in 1999.

United became the first English team in history to complete a continental treble after a remarkable 2-1 win over Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

Manchester City would become only the second English team in history to win the Premier League title, the FA Cup and the Champions League in the same season.

Former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola matched Ferguson’s feat with an English team last season when City completed a continental treble.

Beckham and Neville sat down with BBC Sport and the two United legends made a combined XI featuring players from the two treble-winning teams.

When picking forward options, Beckham and Neville were asked to choose between former United teammate Dwight Yorke or City star Phil Foden.

Neville initially paused before he picked United legend Yorke, with Beckham following his former England teammate by doing the same.

However, Beckham then waxed lyrical about Phil Foden and admitted that he ‘loved’ the player’s “passion” for the Premier League club.

Neville, much like Beckham, opened up about his admiration for the 23-year-old midfielder and hilariously named Foden as the “first sub” for the treble team.

“I’d go Yorkey,” Neville said on BBC Sport’s TikTok page.

Beckham added: “I’d go Yorkey as well. I love Phil, though.”

Responding to Beckham, Neville said: “I love Phil Foden.”

Following on from Neville, Beckham continued: “I do love Phil. I love his passion for the club.”

Neville concluded: “Phil, you’re [the] first sub in our treble team. Congratulations.”

Foden, who has lifted six Premier League titles, has been widely hailed for his impact at City after emerging from the Premier League club’s youth academy.

The City and England midfielder played a key part in Guardiola’s side securing a fourth consecutive Premier League title this season.

Despite snubbing Foden from their combined treble XI, Beckham and Neville were both in awe at what the ‘Stockport Iniesta’ has achieved in his career so far.

Beckham and Neville’s combined treble XI had only three players from City, though the two United legends were divided when it came to including themselves.

Kyle Walker made the team ahead of Neville, despite Beckham wanting his former United and England teammate in there.

Kevin De Bruyne also made the United and City combined XI ahead of Beckham, but Neville was reluctant to leave out the former England captain.

Posted below is Beckham and Neville’s combined United and City treble-winning XI.
