David and Victoria Beckham have finally addressed the former England captain’s alleged affair with Rebecca Loos.

The former Manchester United star, 48, began dating the ex-Spice Girls singer, 49, in 1997 and they tied the knot in 1999.

They share four children – Brooklyn, 24, Romeo, 21, Cruz, 18, and Harper, 12.

In his new documentary with Netflix – titled Beckham – David opens up about the time the couple’s marriage was under enormous pressure.

David was accused of having an affair with Dutch model Rebecca Loos while playing for Real Madrid in 2003.

The Beckhams have always denied claims of an affair. But the couple have now opened up about battling to save their relationship.

Loos became Beckham’s personal assistant after he moved to Real Madrid in 2003, however, a few months later her contract was terminated.

Subsequently, she gave an interview to News of the World, in which she claimed to have had an affair with the Inter Miami owner while he was married to Victoria.

In extracts from the documentary obtained by The Sun, Posh Spice emotionally explained how the allegations had an impact on their marriage.

“It was the hardest period because it felt like the world was against us,” she shared.

“Here’s the thing – we were against each other if I’m being completely honest.

“You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else but we were together, we were connected, we had each other.

“But when we were in Spain, it didn’t really feel like we had each other either.

“And that’s sad. I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me. It was a nightmare.

“It was an absolute circus – and everyone loves it when the circus comes to town right? Unless you’re in it.”

The fashion designer was then asked if she ‘resented’ her husband, to which she replied: “If I’m being totally honest, yes I did. It was the most unhappy I have ever been in my entire life.”

She added that she ‘internalised’ her trauma and struggles as she wanted to focus on supporting her husband in his career.

According to The Sun, the woman Beckham was accused of having an affair with is not named in the documentary.

The Champions League-winning midfielder also addressed the reports, citing this moment as the first time they had been put under pressure in their marriage.

David described that it didn’t feel like they were ‘losing’ their relationship, but that they were ‘drowning’.

Beckham explained: “Victoria is everything to me. To see her hurt was incredibly difficult, but we’re fighters. We needed to fight for each other and for our family. What we had was worth fighting for.

“But ultimately it’s our private life. There were some days I thought, ‘How am I going to go to work? How am I going to go on that training pitch and look as if nothing is wrong?’.

“I felt physically sick every day when I opened my eyes. How am I going to do this?”

He also admitted that he found it difficult adapting to Spanish life after leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid and mentioned that Victoria staying in London early on in his move was a factor in his loneliness.
