Mike Tyson gave brutally honest opinion when asked to predict Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua

Mike Tyson gave a brutally honest answer when asked to predict a potential fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Fury and Joshua are on a potential collision course as they face Oleksandr Usyk and Francis Ngannou respectively in the coming months.

The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ meets Usyk in a blockbuster undisputed clash next month, while ‘AJ’ faces Ngannou in a monstrous fight in March.

Should they win their respective bouts, an all-British showdown could be made for this year in a fight years in the making.

He thinks Fury is ‘too elusive’ for Joshua as he compared the former unified world heavyweight champion to Deontay Wilder.

“I love Joshua, but I think Tyson’s too elusive – he’s not going to hit him,” he said via The Mac Life.

“We’re keeping it honest right? I like Joshua a lot and Joshua maybe punches harder than Wilder, but he doesn’t punch faster than Wilder.

“And if he doesn’t punch faster than Wilder, he’s not going to f**king touch this guy.”

‘Iron’ Mike added: “That’s just what I see. He punches hard, but he doesn’t punch fast. If Tyson Fury can get away from Wilder’s fast punches, then Joshua might be in trouble.”

Tyson himself is no stranger to gigantic fights, having competed against the likes of Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis during his legendary career, so he knows what he’s talking about.

Fury vs. Joshua has been mooted for some time now but has yet to come to fruition.

However, with the influence of Saudi Arabia adviser Turki Alasheikh, the long-awaited meeting between the two British stars could finally happen if they win their next fights.

Fury is the reigning WBC heavyweight champion.

Mike Tyson expertly breaks down how he'd defeat unbeaten Tyson Fury and become world champion again

Mike Tyson has explained how he’d defeat reigning WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in a dream super-fight.

Fury is one of the best boxers on the planet and hasn’t lost a fight in his professional career.

‘The Gypsy King’ defeated Deontay Wilder in 2020 to claim the WBC crown. He’s since defended the title against Wilder, Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora.

Next month, he’ll go toe-to-toe with WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk to determine an undisputed heavyweight champion.

Boxing legend Tyson will be watching the fight closely and believes Fury will come out on top.

He told FightHub TV: “I’m gonna look forward to that fight. I’m going with Tyson Fury, I think he’s going to overpower him, catch up with him and overpower him, that’s what I think but I could be wrong.”

‘Iron Mike’ dominated world boxing during the 1980s, winning the world championship at 20 years old.

His invincible-like stature came to an end following a shock defeat to Buster Douglas in 1990.

The 57-year-old keeps a close eye on the current heavyweight division and believes he knows exactly how to defeat Fury.

Speaking to Ring Magazine in 2020, Tyson explained: “Against someone of Tyson Fury’s size, you’ve got to be aggressive, move your head and be elusive because if you stand still against a man that size, you’re an easy target.

“You need to attack, use angles and stay away from his punching distance. You need to be close, but you can’t stay at a distance that allows the bigger fighter to get off.”

‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ went on to break down why Fury’s personality is as important to his success as his size and power.

Tyson added: “Size and style isn’t the most important thing in the ring; it’s the morale of a fighter that leads to victory.

“His determination, his will to win, his desire is what makes him a champion.

“But at my best, I thought I was the greatest fighter from Achilles, through the Art of War, since the beginning of God, since the beginning of time — I was invincible.”

    Make this happen.

Fighter dubbed 'toughest white guy on the planet' by Mike Tyson calls out John Fury for Saudi clash

John Fury, the father of Tyson Fury, has been called out by a man once called the ‘toughest white guy on the planet’ by boxing icon Mike Tyson.

Big John has become a celebrity in his own right after being a part of Tyson’s journey to becoming WBC heavyweight champion.

Fury was a boxer in his own right, with 13 professional fights to his name.

He lost his debut in 1987 before going on an impressive seven-fight unbeaten streak.

Once ranked third in the country, he suffered knockout defeats to former WBO champion Henry Akinwande and Steve Garber and retired with an 8-4-1 record.

All in all, it’s a decent career, even if he never made it to the world rankings.

He managed to make £4000 from boxing – although that pales in comparison to his £10,000 from bare-knuckle boxing.

Fury doesn’t regret anything about his career, especially after seeing Tyson go unbeaten.

However, the 59-year-old has been offered one last shot at glory in the ring from an unlikely source.

Joe Egan, who previously trained with ‘Iron Mike’ before being shot twice outside his own pub, has issued a strong message to Fury.

Egan believes the current fad of YouTuber boxing needs to end and wants to show ‘Saudi Arabian royals’ what a real fight looks like.

In a callout video uploaded to YouTube earlier this week, the Irishman said: “Hello everyone. I have one last hurrah in me. I haven’t fought in over 20 years.

“John Fury is my friend and he is a good fighting man, same as myself, a good fighting man and I think the two of us would have a great boxing match.

“Out in Saudi let’s show them YouTubers and them Saudi royals how two old warriors can perform.”

Egan managed to become close friends with Tyson after being the only man to last three minutes in the ring with the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ during a sparring session.

Three other men were beaten and a teenage Egan stood his ground.

He told The Sun in November: “If you are going to get battered you might as well get battered by the best.

I got battered by Mike Tyson and I got battered by Lennox Lewis when I fought him in 1985.

“It was a privilege to share the ring with both of them and it is an honour to say Mike Tyson has been my close friend for 40 years now. He visited my mother at home in Ireland four times.”

Mike Tyson's hilarious ringside reaction to Francis Ngannou's 'superman' punch on Tyson Fury

Mike Tyson had a brilliant reaction to Francis Ngannou’s ‘superman’ punch on Tyson Fury.

The Gypsy King remains undefeated after taking on the former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) star in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Although his World Boxing Championship (WBC) heavyweight title was not on the line, Fury’s bout against Ngannou went the full distance.

Ngannou even dropped his opponent to the canvas in the third round after connecting with a left hook.

But that wasn’t the only memorable moment from the fight, with the 37-year-old also attempting a ‘superman’ punch on Fury. The move left Ngannou’s personal coach, Mike Tyson giggling outside of the ring. You can watch his reaction below.

As he watched his fighter in action, Tyson had a brilliant reaction to the moment, even revealing that he told Ngannou to use the blow and that particular pose.

Tyson said: “Superman punch! That’s what they do in the UFC. I told him to use it.”

After 10 rounds of action, the fight went to the judges scorecards as they decided in the favour of Fury, with the 35-year-old edging it 96-93 and 95-94, while another judge scored 95-94 in favour of Ngannou.

Indeed, many fans believe Ngannou deserved to win the fight, after the heavyweight champion was spotted connecting with an illegal elbow in the encounter. While there is a legitimate argument for a potential rematch in the future.

However, a fight against Oleksandr Usyk for a unified heavyweight bout against Fury towards the end of this year seems to be the Gypsy King’s most likely move.

Francis Ngannou speaks out after controversial Tyson Fury defeat amid claims he was robbed

Francis Ngannou has spoken out after his controversial defeat to Tyson Fury.

Fury, the WBC Heavyweight champion, claimed a controversial split decision victory over former UFC star Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening.

While Ngannou put Fury on the canvas in round three after connecting with a left hook, two of the three judges favoured Fury at 96-93 and 95-94 after ten rounds.

“That definitely wasn’t in the script,” Fury told TNT Sports, amid a host of boxing fans on social media insisting Ngannou had been robbed.

“I got caught round the back of the head [for the knockdown]. I wasn’t hurt. I got up and got back to my boxing. He’s an awkward man and a good puncher and I respect him a lot. He’s given me one of my toughest fights of the last 10 years.”

The scorecards controversially fell in favour of the seasoned boxer, who won the commemorative ‘Riyadh champion’ belt ahead of Ngannou.

In turn, Fury extended his unbeaten record to 35, with 34 wins and one draw.

While Ngannou, who was making his competitive boxing debut, was relatively stoic in his interviews after the bout, he has since taken to X, formally Twitter, to make a veiled criticism of the judge’s scorecards.

Ngannou said: “This boxing world [is] wild but some judges should be responsible for their actions. This type of stuff is what f****s up people’s career[s].”

In response to MMA fighter Cedric Doumbe’s tweet, insisting Ngannou had won, the Cameroonian replied: “I’m not even surprised because I expected it. Thank you.”

Finally, Ngannou posted the famous meme of a sheepish James shrugging at the camera, alongside the caption: “‘You think you can just go into boxing and beat the best heavyweight of this generation?!’ Me:”

Tyson Fury didn’t appear to be his normal self as he left the ring following his victory over Francis Ngannou.

The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ narrowly defeated the UFC star via a split decision, with two judges scoring 96-93 and 95-94 in favour of Fury and the other judge scoring the fight 95-94 in favour of Ngannou.

Indeed, it was by no means a walk in the park for Fury, who controversially clinched the win after an action-packed 10 rounds, with fans believing Ngannou was robbed of the win.

Fury survived a third-round knockdown after his opponent landed a vicious left hook, and may feel fortunate to have his undefeated record still intact.

In a video uploaded on the Fight Hub TV Youtube channel, the Englishman can be seen leaving the ring in a rather subdued manner, keeping his head down, barring the occasional nod to supporters.

Perhaps, even he realises he was lucky to get away with the win.

Speaking after the fight, Fury admitted that Ngannou had been one of his toughest opponents in the last 10 years, and it showed.

“That definitely wasn’t in the script,” he told TNT Sports.

“I got caught round the back of the head [for the knockdown]. I wasn’t hurt. I got up and got back to my boxing.

“He’s an awkward man and a good puncher and I respect him a lot. He’s given me one of my toughest fights of the last 10 years.”

While Ngannou, who was making his competitive boxing debut, was relatively stoic in his post-fight interviews.

However, he has since taken to social media to slam the judge’s decision.

He tweeted: “This boxing world [is] wild but some judges should be responsible for their actions. This type of stuff is what f****s up people’s career[s].”

  • The mind-blowing stats behind Francis Ngannou’s record-breaking punch power ahead of Tyson Fury fight

The mind-blowing stats behind Francis Ngannou’s record-breaking punch power ahead of Tyson Fury fight

    This is crazy power.

The mind-blowing stats behind Francis Ngannou's record-breaking punch power ahead of Tyson Fury fight

Dana White’s comments on Francis Ngannou’s record-breaking power have resurfaced ahead of his fight with Tyson Fury.

UFC legend Ngannou is set to grace the ring with the self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ on Saturday for their combat sports crossover.

Although there are no titles on the line, the winner will be able to call themselves the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’.

The showdown, which will take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, after Fury’s original fight against Oleksandr Usyk was abandoned due to alleged contract issues.

But while Ngannou may not be the heavyweight champion of the world, he certainly packs a punch which is demonstrated in the statistics.

White previously opened up on the record-breaking power of Ngannou, who has been taking training tips from none other than Mike Tyson.

Ngannou set a record for the hardest punch ever measured when he visited the UFC Performance Centre in 2017.

Ahead of his rematch with UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic in 2021, UFC president White explained why being hit by ‘The Predator’ is like being struck by a speeding car.

“Francis is a guy who has the world record for the most powerful punch,” White told talkSPORT.

“His punches are equivalent to 96 horsepower. That’s equal to getting hit by a Ford Escort going as fast as it can and it’s more powerful than a 12-pound sledgehammer from full force overhead. Holy s**t.”

Note: we absolutely do not recommend getting hit by a top-speed car or a 12lb sledgehammer in order to see if you can stand up to Ngannou’s power. But it does give you an idea of what Fury will be facing on Saturday.

Ngannou is widely viewed as the most destructive pure puncher in the UFC’s heavyweight division. It’s a similar status held by the French-Canadian’s hero, Mike Tyson, in the boxing world during the late 1980s and 1990s.

Speaking about his new student when Ngannou was hoping to fight Fury back in 2021, Tyson explained exactly how to defeat the 35-year-old.

“The theory is, he punches long and when you punch like that, when he punches long, you got hooks inside that will move him around. Hard punches to the body.

“And with the uppercut. You hit him, boom. But it’s always more than one punch. Hit that body then boom. Even numbers of the right hand, odd numbers of the left hand.

“He’s got long arms, you got to go in and move your head. You got to make him miss. When you come fast, there’s only two punches he can throw and that’s straights or hooks. And you’re anticipating them – you’re going to get in close.”

However, Fury’s father, John, is less than pleased that ‘Iron Mike’ is training up his son’s opponent, with the family name on the line.

Footage of Cristiano Ronaldo and Tyson Fury’s conversation in Riyadh has emerged, it’s so wholesome

Tyson Fury described Cristiano Ronaldo as the “greatest footballer that has ever lived” when they bumped into each other at the Champions Gala – and you could see how much it meant to the Al Nassr forward.

The self-proclaimed Gypsy King will come up against former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou on Friday night in a historic 10-round crossover bout that has been branded the ‘Battle of the Baddest’.

Ahead of the event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a host of the world’s biggest stars, including Eminem, Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao and Oleksandr Usyk, attended a Gala dinner at the luxurious St Regis Hotel.

Cristiano Ronaldo was also present at the red carpet event and posed for pictures with the likes of Tommy Fury before sitting down with his older brother.

    Check out the meeting below:

Speaking to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Fury said: “Cristiano you are the greatest footballer that has ever lived, and I mean that. I am a big fan. I watched you at United the first time, the second time and all your time at Real Madrid.”

Ronaldo would then ask Fury if he’d ever been to watch him at Old Trafford.

Last year, after Ronaldo returned to Manchester United, Fury gave his honest take on the transfer.

He told The Mirror: “It’s good news Ronaldo is staying on, but here’s a theory: when they didn’t have him the season before last, they finished second in the Premier League, then we had Ronaldo and we finished sixth.

“People will say, ‘Well, if we hadn’t had him scoring 20 goals we’d have finished a lot lower last season’, but we didn’t the season before and we finished a lot higher.

“When you have a superstar like Ronaldo, everybody relies on him to score goals and if he wasn’t there they’d be scoring the goals themselves, like they did the season before last.”

Fury added: “I’m not saying he’s a bad asset, he’s a great asset, but sometimes with a star player, he carries the team and the young people are overshadowed by it all, they don’t get their chance to shine because ‘the great Ronaldo’ is on the pitch.”

As well as Ronaldo, the WBC heavyweight champion of the world stumbled across soon-to-be-opponent Oleksandr Usyk.

“I’m expecting the fight to take place in December, that’s what I’ve been told, so I’ve got no reason to disbelieve it,” Fury said ahead of his bout against Ngannou. “Usyk has to fight me in December, doesn’t have a choice.

“He’s signed a contract so if he doesn’t, he’s breached contract and he gets sued. He doesn’t really have a choice.”

Tyson Fury takes on Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night

Conor McGregor genuinely believes Francis Ngannou has a chance against Tyson Fury, explains why

Conor McGregor has explained why he thinks Francis Ngannou has a chance to beat Tyson Fury.

On Saturday night, WBC heavyweight champion Fury will take on former UFC champion Ngannou in a ‘battle of the baddest’ in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of the bout, British boxer Fury is the overwhelming favourite to win as Ngannou is making his professional boxing debut against arguably the greatest fighter of his generation.

However, UFC star McGregor has explained why Ngannou has a chance to cause an almighty upset this weekend.

Speaking on Twitter, the Irishman explained: “Francis has power.

“Francis has big power with a striker’s mentality. If it gets a bit tougher for him in the later rounds, the striker mentality will withstand versus if it was a mixed martial artist’s mentality. With power, with that anything can happen.”

McGregor continued: “Mike Tyson in the corner — that type of style could be a kryptonite of a long, rangy distance type of fighter in Tyson Fury.

“I don’t think Tyson Fury is going to want to let Francis test his power on him. Has Mike Tyson given some tips on how to get inside, change an angle, to bang a shot that clips the top of the temple, to make it into an interesting bout?”

McGregor also spoke about Ngannou’s style and mentality.

He added: “Francis Ngannou for me is more of a kickboxer/boxer than he is a mixed martial artist, in my opinion.

“He’s more of a standup fighter than he is a mixed martial artist. You start throwing in grappling with Francis, it’s never good for him. He has a striker’s mentality. This will stand to him in this bout.

“He has a tall ask with Tyson Fury but any man can land a shot. Tyson does get hit. It’s going to be a tough ask. I’m excited to see it unfold.”
