'Isn’t it illegal' - Fans think Jake Paul had an unfair 'advantage' against Nate Diaz

Disgruntled fight fans think Jake Paul had an unfair ‘advantage’ over Nate Diaz following his victory last night.

Paul returned to the win column following his defeat to Tommy Fury by outpointing former UFC superstar Diaz in Dallas, Texas.

He won a convincing unanimous decision, with the three judge scoring the cruiserweight contest 97-92, 98-91 and 98-91 in favour of the YouTuber personality.

But fans on social media believe ‘The Problem Child’ entered the fight with an ‘advantage’ over the Stockon slugger.

Paul had two different coloured gloves as he wore a black glove on his right hand and a white glove on his left hand.

Diaz, on the other hand, wore two white gloves for his boxing debut.

After the result, people online took issue with the 26-year-old’s gloves, claiming he had an edge in their boxing bout.

One Twitter user wrote: “Jake Paul wearing two different colour Gloves gives him Advantage. He does this for a reason. No Ying Yang ting, when you face KSI.”

A second tweeted: “I genuinely thought it wasn’t allowed.”

A third added: “I’ve been saying this. Why is he wearing that? Isn’t it illegal!”

A fourth said: “Why do they keep allowing Jake Paul to wear two different colored gloves.”

Another commented: “I was surprised that was allowed.”

The Texas commission allowed Paul to wear two different coloured gloves as he secured the seventh victory of his professional career.

Speaking after the match, he reflected on his victory as he praised Diaz.

“He’s tough, that’s what he’s known for. Of course [I expected to win the decision]. I knocked him down.” he said.

“He’s tough, he’s real tough. That’s what he’s known for but tough in this sport doesn’t work.”

Paul added: “I did enough, I knocked him down, won basically every round but he’s a warrior. He kept on coming and no one has taken that much damage.

“All credit to my team and conditioning going 10 rounds in my eighth fight, I’ve beat a UFC legend.”

Logan Paul rants at Jake Paul for not helping to promote his next fight and KSI vs Tommy Fury

Logan and Jake Paul clashed on the latest episode of the IMPAULSIVE podcast, with the two brothers wildly disagreeing over the lack of promotion for the upcoming Misfits Boxing card.

Both Pauls were victorious on Saturday night, with Logan beating Ricochet at WWE’s Summerslam event in Detroit Field and then immediately jetting out to Dallas, Texas on a 1000 mile trip to see his younger sibling return to winning ways against Nate Diaz.

‘The Problem Child’ emerged victorious via unanimous decision and discussed his triumph in a 71-minute episode released on Tuesday.

However, it got very tense between the two as they went back and forth – the main issue being that Logan was unhappy with his bout against Dillon Danis not being hyped in any way by Most Valuable Promotions or DAZN, the streaming service who are broadcasting both bouts.

‘The Maverick’ is returning to the ring in Manchester on October 14 on a huge bill being promoted as “the Prime Card” where business partner KSI is squaring off against Tommy Fury in the main event.

But Logan was unhappy that not only was he unable to promote Prime at his brother’s last fight and addressed it in person.

“They said I would get kicked out if I bought a Prime bottle,” Logan commented.

“That’s f**king ridiculous bro. Do you think I would ever ban you from promoting any of your s**t at any of my events?”

Jake fired back, saying: “It caused issues at our last event when we had other betting partners and drink partners, and you came out with the betting (hat) and the drinks.”

Logan asked, “Is it illegal to wear what I’m wearing?” – to which Jake attached the blame to the brands and told his brother “you just don’t want to accept the reality”.

The tension didn’t not end there, though as Logan even brother Jake’s manager into it and called out double standards.

He added: “DAZN, who by the way on the Misfits card, KSI’s event, promoted the f*** out of your fight against Nate Diaz, DAZN was not allowed to promote the Prime card.

“That’s ridiculous. Whose ask was that? It was Nakisa’s dude, Nakisa’s on your team, he’s not on team Paul. He’s on team Jake. And we’re a family, and he knows that.”

“But why would I want to promote KSI’s event?”

When Jake asked why he would promote KSI’s event, Logan responded: “Because I’m on it! I’m on the undercard.”

Jake made the point that his opponent wasn’t announced, though Logan let him know that his appearance on the card was.

The two continued to argue on a number of topics throughout the podcast, while also teasing future bouts between Jake and Floyd Mayweather and Logan and Tommy Fury.

Fans accuse Anthony Joshua of 'losing the plot' after intense face-off with Robert Helenius

Boxing fans think Anthony Joshua ‘lost the plot’ during his intense face-off with Robert Helenius as words were exchanged on stage.

Joshua meets Helenius at the O2 Arena on Saturday following the withdrawal of Dillian Whyte, who returned an adverse finding from a doping test.

The pair of heavyweights weighed in on Friday ahead of their main-event clash, with ‘AJ’ tipping the scales at 250lbs while the Finnish fighter weighed in at 249.4lbs.

After hitting the scales, Joshua and Helenius faced off against each other before their showdown on DAZN.

And they were involved in a fiery face-off, with the former world heavyweight champion asking his opponent if he had a problem with him.

They exchanged words as promoter Eddie Hearn watched on, with both boxers eventually separating before being interviewed.

Joshua’s behaviour got fight fans online talking as they think he’s ‘lost the plot’ and ‘looks worried’.

One Twitter user questioned: “AJ has completely lost the plot hasn’t he?”

A second wrote: “AJ is losing it.”

A third tweeted: “AJ is all over the place.”

A fourth added: What an absolute bully idiot Joshua is. It’s a stare down face to face! Asking if he has a problem!!??”

    Another said: “AJ looks worried.”

This will be Joshua’s second bout of the year, having returned to the win column following his back-to-back defeats to Oleksandr Usyk by beating Jermaine Franklin last April.

As for Helenius, he makes a swift return to the ring as he fought last weekend when he stopped Mika Mielonen in Finland.

Joshua or Helenius – who takes it? Let us know.

Anthony Joshua's fight with Robert Helenius nearly collapsed over glove dispute

Anthony Joshua’s fight on Saturday night was nearly scuppered for a second time over a glove row.

The former world heavyweight champion was initially scheduled to face long-time rival Dillian Whyte for the second time in his professional career but the fight was cancelled after the ‘Body Snatcher’ failed a drugs test.

Finnish fighter Robert Helenius stepped in as a replacement at incredibly short notice, having been in action in his native country just a week ago.

But the bout was almost nixed amid a huge dispute over gloves. Helenius and his team were absolutely furious with the Leone gloves Joshua is wearing in the main event at the O2 Arena.

WATCH BOTH TEAMS ROW OVER THE GLOVES HERE:

David Ghansa, who is Joshua’s long-time friend and training camp manager, selected the gloves.

But Helenius and his camp were not happy with the chosen gloves, claiming the padding was different and feeling as though ‘AJ’ had an advantage as a result.

The Nordic Nightmare had even described the gloves as “f****ing bulls***” and said, “I need exactly the same gloves” – claiming everybody knows w

Hearing there’s an emerging glove row. Helenius is now apparently not happy with his own gloves so now wants a pair of what Anthony Joshua will be wearing – a pair of DiNardos (for the first time). THIS IS GLOVEGATE.

Johan Lindstrom, Helenius’ trainer, stated there was “so little padding” even if British Boxing Board of Control officials confirmed they had are valid for use.

Lindstrom got into it with Matchroom Boxing CEO Frank Smith over the matter but Ghansa was able to allay all concerns and confirm that Helenius would be given a pair of the very same gloves on fight night.

Everything was left amicably, with handshakes and embraces all round.

The weigh-in between the pair was a fiery one, with some fans accusing Joshua of “losing the plot” after he told his opponent, “you look like you’ve got a problem with me” during the final face-off.

He then added: “We can have a fight tomorrow night or we can have a fight here.”

Should he beat Helenius, Joshua is widely expected to square off against former WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder in a blockbuster fight.

Anthony Joshua made everyone cringe in his post-fight interview, even the crowd groaned

Anthony Joshua rediscovered his KO touch against Robert Helenius but he managed to make the crowd cringe and groan following his victory.

Anthony Joshua stopped Helenius with a brutal one-punch knockout in round seven of their bout to record his second victory in a row following defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.

Despite the victory, the Briton boxed cautiously, lacking the speed and sharpness he once showed in his career, which brought on jeers from an unsatisfied crowd at the O2 Arena in London.

Joshua was hoping to kick-start his boxing career again after many have said that it has been stalling, against the 39-year-old Helenius who had fought just a week prior.

During his post-fight interview, Joshua made a comment that could be perceived as cringe-worthy, bringing on jeers from the O2 crowd.

He said: “Ah! My back! My back! Is there a doctor in here, my back’s gone! Cause I’m about to carry this heavyweight division to the top!”

Expecting a joyous response from the crowd, Joshua’s comments were only met with some light cheers and a lot of groaning.

In response to the jeers from the crowd, Joshua also explained his fighting style at the post-fight press-conference: “If I could have done it earlier, I would have,

“It’s a breaking down job. There’s many ways to skin a cat and I did it in the end.”

Joshua emerged victorious and made some questionable comments post-fight. (
    Getty Images)

The crowd had become agitated as they were made to wait until 11:30pm for the main event, and they voiced their frustrations during the fight.

Joshua asked post-fight: “Were they booing me or Helenius? That’s the question,

“Have any of them ever boxed before? They don’t understand it’s competitive boxing. We’re trying to shut each other’s advances down.

“It’s a game of chess and from the outside chess is boring.”

Their annoyance can be understood though, as for the opening 18 minutes of the fight, neither of the boxers let their hands go, as no flush shots landed.

However, for the first 18 minutes of the fight, neither boxer truly let their hands go. No flush shots landed.

The next step expected for Anthony Joshua is to fight Deontay ‘Bronze Bomber’ Wilder which is sure to be one of the most anticipating boxing matches in the imminent future.

Tyson Fury admits his own son is 'embarrassed' by him and has explained why

Tyson Fury has admitted that his son is embarrassed by him in the recent Netflix documentary.

Last week, the documentary titled ‘At Home With The Furys’ was released on the popular streaming platform Netflix.

Fury, along with his wife, Paris have been giving a rare insight into what life is like away from the limelight of the heavyweight boxing world.

During the show, Fury was asked for advice from a parent whose teenager was embarrassed by them, which is something the boxing champion relates to.

He said: “My son is 11 years old. Prince, he’s in school and he’s like ‘Don’t do videos on Instagram saying ‘Hi guys, I’m in the gym” because all his friends at school are giving him stick about it. My son’s embarrassed of his father!”

Paris then responded: “So how do you help that situation?

“Well you don’t do what you do, you just went off ‘Tell all your friends they are idiots’, I think you’ve still got to just let them have that moment. I think eventually they’ll come back round, won’t they?”

Fury then said that he can help the situation by going to school discos to take part in ‘cool dancing’, to which Paris replied: “No don’t do that, that’s not how to succeed at this mission.”

Together, Fury and Paris share Venezuela, 13, Prince John James, 11, Prince Tysn II, seven, Valencia, five, Prince Adonis Amaziah, four and Athena, two.

Paris has hinted that they could have more children, she wrote in her book: “Tyson and I had always intended to carry on the great Traveller tradition and have a big family: three children at the very least, we’d say to each other, maybe even ten if we were lucky.”

Fury also revealed that he wanted to stop filming the series after just two weeks.

He said: “I wanted out. I was like, couple of weeks in, I said: ‘Is there any way [out]?’

“I’d be on the phone with my lawyers. ‘Is there any way I can get out of this? I don’t know what I’ve signed up for again. I never said I’d do it again. I’ve done it again, I’ve made a mistake’.”

Tyson Fury says Netflix show was a 'mistake' and wanted to cancel during filming

Tyson Fury has revealed that he wanted to cancel his new documentary halfway through filming, labelling it as a ‘mistake’.

The documentary – described as a ‘hilarious and heartfelt docusoap’ by Netflix – follows the life of Fury and his family in Morecambe after the boxing icon announced his retirement from the sport in April 2022.

Part of the series also focuses on Fury’s attempts to secure a landmark British boxing fight with Anthony Joshua, and also documents his battles with mental health issues.

And speaking in an interview with Capital XTRA Breakfast, Fury revealed that he had doubts about filming during the early stages – and even consulted lawyers over whether there was a possibility for the family to cancel its contract with Netflix.

You can watch the full clip below.

He explained: “I wanted out. I was like, couple of weeks in, I said: ‘Is there any way [out]?’

As well as Fury and his wife, Paris, the documentary also features Fury’s brother Tommy and Molly-Mae Hague.

The latter section of the documentary details the 35-year-old’s preparations for his return fight against Dereck Chisora.

Since his win over Chisora at Wembley in December – where he regained his WBC heavyweight title – Fury is yet to step back into the ring.

A much-anticipated fight with Joshua is still yet to look close to happening – and if you’re a boxing fan, you’d admit the chances of it ever taking place look pretty slim.

But Fury has confirmed he will take on former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia in October, with the fight using a 10-point must system.

Fernando Alonso has not finished in the top three yet this season, but he appeared to be happy after his performance in Suzuka last weekend. Alonso finished P6, ahead of both Mercedes drivers – George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. Because of this, the Spaniard is not too open about a potential move to the Silver Arrows come 2025.

Alonso is without a contract in 2025, but at the age of 42, wants to embark on a new challenge or continue his existing one with Aston Martin, depending on several factors. One factor the Oviedo-born driver wants to consider is the team’s mechanical package and on that front, he feels Aston Martin is better than Mercedes.

After his sixth-place finish at the Japanese GP weekend, Alonso said to the media, “Mercedes is behind us, it doesn’t feel that attractive.”  This was Alonso’s response to rumors linking him to a Mercedes transfer once the silly season begins. The 2-time world champion is one of the many drivers linked to a move to Mercedes.

Aston Martin provided him with a car capable of fighting for the podium places for the majority of 2023. That has not transpired in the current campaign, which is why Alonso is reportedly not happy with the Silverstone-based outfit. He wants to win races; at least get to his 33rd race win before hanging up his helmet.

For that, Alonso wants to join a team that can help him achieve that and Aston Martin doesn’t look like the ideal outfit. Per his recent comments, Mercedes seems to be out of the equation too,

    Fernando Alonso’s potential destination

Just four rounds into the 2024 season, it is still too early to make final assessments on where each team stands. Aston Martin may bring in big upgrades that send their car towards the front of the grid. In that case, Alonso may end up signing an extension, if the team wants him there.

On the other hand, Mercedes want a replacement for their outgoing star Lewis Hamilton. Alonso’s experience could be a good short-term fix for the Brackley-based outfit. But Carlos Sainz’s recent heroics for Ferrari have made him a favorite for that seat.

Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez seemed elated at finishing 1-2 in Suzuka last weekend. It resumed the dominant Red Bull run that came to a pause briefly in Melbourne, but there was one aspect of their Japanese GP win that Verstappen and Perez didn’t like. It was how the trophies changed in 2024.

In 2023, the organizers of the Japanese GP organizers came up with a new design, where if a driver kissed the trophy, it would light up. The trophies, dubbed as “kiss me” trophies, became big news and drivers were excited to celebrate with it on the podium.

Verstappen and the McLaren duo of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were the recipients of this unique memorabilia, which is probably why the former was expecting something similar after winning the outing in 2024.

However, the 3-time champion felt disappointed. After the race, as per video clips circulated on social media, Verstappen was checking his trophy out with his foot. Perez said, “The trophies used to be really nice.” Verstappen replied, “Yeah, I don’t know what happened.”

Verstappen was visibly disappointed with the changes to the trophy. But it doesn’t take anything away from the 26-year-old’s performance. He suffered a DNF in Melbourne which is why many questioned Red Bull’s reliability moving forward. But, the Dutchman didn’t seem very worried and dominated proceedings to win his 3rd race of 2024.

Max Verstappen and Red Bull’s Japan win shows Ferrari still has work to do

After their 1-2 finish in Melbourne, the F1 community wondered if Ferrari has what it takes to give Red Bull a run for its money this season. As it turns out, they don’t. At least, not yet.

The Maranello-based outfit was fast in Suzuka, with Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc showing exceptional race pace. Unfortunately, Verstappen and Perez were just too fast. The Red Bull duo did not get any threat from behind at any point during the race, with Perez finishing 8 seconds ahead of Sainz, who ended up in third.

Ferrari, however, did not bring upgrades to Suzuka as Red Bull did. The team is planning on bringing planned improvements to the car in Imola, which is when Ferrari’s progress can actually start to show. Until then, Red Bull and Verstappen remain the firm favorites.
