Tyson Fury says Netflix show was a 'mistake' and wanted to cancel during filming

Tyson Fury has revealed that he wanted to cancel his new documentary halfway through filming, labelling it as a ‘mistake’.

The documentary – described as a ‘hilarious and heartfelt docusoap’ by Netflix – follows the life of Fury and his family in Morecambe after the boxing icon announced his retirement from the sport in April 2022.

Part of the series also focuses on Fury’s attempts to secure a landmark British boxing fight with Anthony Joshua, and also documents his battles with mental health issues.

And speaking in an interview with Capital XTRA Breakfast, Fury revealed that he had doubts about filming during the early stages – and even consulted lawyers over whether there was a possibility for the family to cancel its contract with Netflix.

You can watch the full clip below.

He explained: “I wanted out. I was like, couple of weeks in, I said: ‘Is there any way [out]?’

“I’d be on the phone with my lawyers. ‘Is there any way I can get out of this? I don’t know what I’ve signed up for again. I never said I’d do it again. I’ve done it again, I’ve made a mistake’.”

As well as Fury and his wife, Paris, the documentary also features Fury’s brother Tommy and Molly-Mae Hague.

The latter section of the documentary details the 35-year-old’s preparations for his return fight against Dereck Chisora.

Since his win over Chisora at Wembley in December – where he regained his WBC heavyweight title – Fury is yet to step back into the ring.

A much-anticipated fight with Joshua is still yet to look close to happening – and if you’re a boxing fan, you’d admit the chances of it ever taking place look pretty slim.

But Fury has confirmed he will take on former UFC champion Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia in October, with the fight using a 10-point must system.
