BREAKING: KSI and Tommy Fury confirm fight for October 14

KSI and Tommy Fury have confirmed they will square off inside the squared circle on October 14.

The two rivals have been locked in negotiations for a while now ever since Fury ended Jake Paul’s undefeated streak in February this year.

But their boxing bout has now been made official, with KSI announcing their main event fight on Twitter on Sunday evening.

The eight-round encounter between the undefeated pair will happen at the AO Arena in Fury’s hometown of Manchester as part of a huge Misfits Boxing & DAZN card.

It’s being billed as the ‘Prime Card’ and KSI’s former rival and now business partner, Logan Paul, will also be in action.

OCTOBER 14TH, I’m doing what Jake Paul couldn’t and beating Tommy Fury on the biggest night in crossover boxing history, at Manchester’s AO Arena, live on DAZN PPV on the PRIME CARD! #KSIFury | @mf_daznxseries | @drinkprime | @kickstreaming | @Stake

Speaking after the announcement, KSI said: “I came back to boxing to show the world the crazy levels I’m at.

“I’ve shown through obliterating all my past opponents that I am the best in this scene. KO after KO has now led me to the toughest fight in the influencer boxing scene.

“I’m fighting Tommy Fury. The man that defeated the once undefeated Jake Paul is now my opponent and I can’t wait to silence all the doubters that believe I have no chance. After this fight, you’ll understand that I truly am that guy.”

Fury commented: “I’ve already beaten Jake Paul and so all that is left for me to do is send this man to sleep.

“I’ll do that inside four rounds. This is easy money.”

KSI’s last fight was against Joe Fournier back in May and was shrouded in controversy. The Sidemen member knocked out his opponent in the second round to retain the MF cruiserweight championship.

However, replays should that he had inadvertently elbowed Fournier in the finishing sequence. In the end, boxing authorities decided it was indeed an illegal strike and that the fight should be ruled a no contest.

Fury was in attendance and got in the ring afterwards for a post-fight staredown. He had already been busy earlier in the evening though, having got into a brawl with fellow former Love Island contestant Idris Virgo moments after Anthony Taylor’s win over Salt Papi.

Fury is 9-0 professionally, while KSI is 5-0, with three knockouts on his record.

Jake Paul is set to take on Nate Diaz this weekend

Jake Paul loses $1000 in boxing challenge just days before Nate Diaz fight

American YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul has lost $1000 in a boxing challenge ahead of his bout against Nate Diaz.

This Saturday, Paul will be taking on former UFC star Diaz at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Paul, who was beaten by Brit Tommy Fury back in February is going up against Diaz, who is making his boxing debut after leaving the UFC in September.

Ahead of the bout, Paul has had to fork out $1000 for charity after he lost a boxing skills challenge against UFC star Bo Nickal.

The pair challenged each other on a reflex ball, which is a tennis ball tied to one’s head with a string.

It is used to test a person’s hand-eye coordination.

Nickal managed eight punches before the ball dropped, but Paul only managed six.

In the end, both Nickal and Paul agreed to pay $1000 to the American YouTube sensation’s foundation, Boxing Bullies.

Paul was then asked about his secret to success during the latest episode of Bo Gets Betr.

He said: “My dad says this and I’m going to steal this, shout out Greg Paul; ‘the road to success is always under construction so it’s always changing’ – some moments might be easier than others, some might be harder than others.

“Some days you might not be feeling great and others you might be feeling like ‘why the f*** am I under attack from the Universe?’ And so you’re always going to be constantly changing and evolving but the No.1 thing is relentlessness. When you try to do something great, people are going to f***ing rip you down.”

Paul added: “They’ll tear you apart, that just comes with the critics and that is the biggest thing. You just have to have thick skin to push through all of that and remain committed to your goal and not let any of that get in your way – easier said than done, it kills most people. So are you made for this?

“Do you want to achieve your goal more than you want to mope about the critics and all the hard work and all the things that you have to do to get to your goal? That’s something that you have to come to terms with within your own mind and inspiration is a fleeting thing, it’s not always there.”

Claressa Shields has started training camp for mooted intergender fight with Keith Thurman

Claressa Shields, the undisputed women’s middleweight champion, claims she is in training camp for a spectacular intergender fight with former welterweight king Keith Thurman.

The Olympic Gold medalist is undefeated with a perfect 14-0 record and retained the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, WBF, and The Ring female middleweight titles in her last bout against Maricela Cornejo in Detroit, Michigan in June.

She’s defeated every woman she’s stepped in the ring against but now the self-proclaimed ‘GWOAT’ wants to square off against Thurman, whose only career defeat came against Manny Pacquiao.

Shields put the challenge out on Monday, claiming that she could outbox him.

The three-weight world champion wrote: “I’ll fight Thurman at 154lbs so serious. All the respect in the world to him too. I just think I can outbox him.”

Thurman has been extremely inactive in recent times, fighting just once in the last four years. In response, he expressed his interest in a charity bout but requested that Shields wear bigger gloves and protective headgear as he doesn’t “want to punch a girl in the face”.

Shields, who was once challenged to a spar with Jake Paul, didn’t like that comment one bit and fired back, pointing out that she is bigger and taller than Thurman and telling him to wear a “big cup shield”.

And lastly if we are “sparring” of course I’ll wear a headgear” but for a charity event or raising money for a foundation you can keep the head gear bookie butt 😂 and you can wear a big cup shield cause I’m gonna punch you hard in the stomach like Luiz did 🤝🏾 #GWOAT

The 28-year-old said: “Aww, Keith you are hilarious. Yes, you are a man and champion, but you are not good enough to only use one hand on me.

“Now for charity or raising money for a foundation, we can definitely do it. I’ll come in at 160 too, I’m actually bigger than you and taller.

“And lastly if we are ‘sparring’ of course I’ll wear a ‘headgear’ but for a charity event or raising money for a foundation you can keep the head gear bookie butt and you can wear a big cup shield cause I’m gonna punch you hard in the stomach like Luiz did.”

But it seems as though Shields is not playing. On Tuesday, she tweeted to say she is now training with former two-weight world champion Shakur Stevenson.

tarted for Keith Thurman activated ! Let’s go. I’m gonna get in the gym with Shakur Stevenson to help me prepare.’”

Stevenson added: “Let’s do it”, accompanying the GOAT emoji.

Nate Diaz leaves Jake Paul stunned after casually walking out of face-to-face without saying a word

Nate Diaz has left Jake Paul scratching his head after he prematurely left a pre-fight face-to-face.

Combat Sports reporter Ariel Helwani has shared footage of the two fighters participating in some pre-fight media duties, although it seems Diaz wasn’t having a bar of it.

The footage shows Helwani playing host to the confrontation between the pair ahead of their bout this weekend.

Paul can be heard commending his opponent, praising him as a ‘warrior’ and talking about his MMA career.

As that’s going on the former UFC star can be seen looking quite disinterested in everything that’s going on, failing to make any eye contact with the influencer.

The MMA fighter looks quite agitated while sitting, failing to remain still as he’s looking in many different directions.

Then, inexplicably, Diaz rises casually from his chair and proceeds to make his way off the stage while Paul is still mid-sentence.

Both Helwani and Paul look perplexed as Diaz makes his way out of the shot, letting the two know that he’ll ‘be right back’.

Oh my. Today’s face-to-face with Jake and Nate ended … prematurely. 😅 Full video out tomorrow via @DAZNBoxing.

Footage later cuts to Diaz jumping into a car and leaving the face-to-face entirely.

Fans were quick to comment on the incident, with many believing this was typical Nate Diaz mind games – with his disinterest in the fight the best way to go about facing the controversial boxing influencer.

Sports reporter Wade Plem said: “Welp.. This is classic Nate.”

Another fan wrote: “Oh my god Nate is the best.

“This is the absolute best approach to the lead up to a Jake fight. Get your money, don’t do anything to help him get PPV points. God Bless Nate Diaz!”

A third commented: “I know Jake’s gotta be sick with how little Nate’s selling the fight lmaoo.”’

Meanwhile, others showed some concern for Nate’s mental state.

One fan said: “Sadly this looks like it is anxiety.”

Another wrote: “Nate looked anxious with the hand gestures. The edibles hit too hard.”

A third added: “Nate always looks uncomfortable in any setting, you’d think somebody is out to get him here.”

Nate has yet to offer up an explanation for his premature departure, but hopefully, we’ll get a bit more of an idea when the full video comes out.

The two will square off on August 5, at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Jake Paul and Nate Diaz fight purses revealed, including win bonuses

The huge purses Jake Paul and Nate Diaz will earn from their blockbuster boxing bout this weekend have been revealed.

Paul, who suffered the first defeat of his professional career to Tommy Fury last February, returns to action on Saturday as he welcomes former UFC superstar Diaz to the ring.

The Stockton slugger left Dana White’s MMA promotion following his submission victory over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279 last September.

As for Paul, he once again takes on a former UFC fighter, having fought the likes of Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva.

He’ll be hoping to return to the win column after losing a close decision to Fury in Saudi Arabia.

With Paul vs. Diaz just days away, their purses have been revealed, with the 26-year-old set to pocket a cool seven-figure purse, according to SportsLens.

He’s guaranteed to earn $2 million but could receive up to $5 million if he beats Diaz, who is in line to pick up $500,000. But his purse will double if he defeats Paul.

Diaz guaranteed to earn $500,000 (raising to $1 million if he wins).

It’s another big payday for ‘The Problem Child’ and according to the co-founder of his boxing promotion, it could be his last fight depending on how he fares against Diaz.

Nakisa Bidarian claims Paul could retire if he loses, with his boxing career on the line.

“He may retire if he loses to Nate Diaz,” he said.

“His boxing career is on the line, in terms of being one of the top three or four guys in the entire sport globally. I think if he was to lose, he’d just go to being another prospect that’s coming up in the ring.”

Paul or Diaz – who takes it? Let us know.

Why Tyson Fury’s mum was not included in boxing champion’s new Netflix documentary

Why Tyson Fury’s mum was not included in boxing champion’s new Netflix documentary

The reason behind the absence of Tyson Fury’s mum in the Gypsy King’s new Netflix documentary has been revealed.

Last week, Fury and his family offered an insight into their private life after ‘At Home With The Furys’ was released on the popular streaming platform, Netflix.

The heavyweight champion, along with his wife, Paris opened up on their life away from the boxing ring.

However, Fury’s mum, Amber, was nowhere to be seen.

Over the years, it has been well documented that Amber has kept a low profile despite the major successes that Fury has had during what has been a stellar boxing career.

Speaking previously to the Irish Mirror, Fury explained why his mum isn’t one for the limelight.

He said: “I looked on Google the other day and there’s not one picture of my mother on the internet. That’s crazy isn’t it?

“She has never been to one of my boxing fights, amateur or professional and never been in the public eye at all. She’s a private person. That’s her priority, not mine.”

Fury added: “I don’t think it means anything to my mum. She doesn’t care if I’m world champion or not, as long as I’m healthy and happy. That is the only thing that means anything to her.

“You could give my mother that table full of £50 notes and diamonds and it wouldn’t change who she is, ever.

“Money can’t change certain individuals; nothing can. You could give her the power to run the UK, it wouldn’t matter, it wouldn’t change her.”

In his autobiography, ‘Behind The Mask’, Fury also talked about his mum.

He said: “To be honest, my mum doesn’t fully understand what I have achieved as a boxer.

“I took her out shopping one time after the Wilder fight and I was being stopped for photographs and autographs everywhere I went in Manchester and she couldn’t understand it.

“I had to explain to her that I was the heavyweight champion of the world and a lot of people had watched me and supported me. That was actually very special.”

At Home With The Furys is available to watch on Netflix now.

Tyson Fury explains the reason why all of his three sons are called Prince

World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has revealed why he’s named all of his three sons the exact same first name.

The self-proclaimed ‘Gypsy King’ has six kids with wife Paris – three daughters and three sons.

The couple’s daughters are called Venezuela, Valencia and Athena, and they get their names from places because their mother’s name.

But what about their sons? Why are they all called Prince? Well, Fury has revealed why he’s called his three boys the same name.

Speaking in his Netflix documentary ‘At Home with the Furys’, he said: “I’m a king and they’re princes until they earn their rightful name.”

How does he tell them part? That’s easy because their full names are Prince John James, Prince Tyson Fury II and Prince Adonis Amaziah.

The nine-episode series gives fans an insight into Fury’s private life, but the filming of the documentary almost got too much for him as he wanted out a ‘couple of weeks’ in.

The 35-year-old said: “I wanted out. I was like, couple of weeks in, I said: ‘Is there any way [out]?’

“I’d be on the phone with my lawyers. ‘Is there any way I can get out of this? I don’t know what I’ve signed up for again. I never said I’d do it again. I’ve done it again, I’ve made a mistake’.”

The WBC kingpin hasn’t fought since his stoppage victory over Dereck Chisora last December.

He had been linked with a blockbuster undisputed showdown against WBA, WBO and IBF title holder Oleksandr Usyk but talks broke down.

The undefeated boxer, however, will return to action on October 28 when he faces former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.

Jake Paul accused of looking 'scared' during face to face interview with Nate Diaz

Jake Paul and Nate Diaz engaged in a quite frankly bizarre face-to-face interview ahead of their scheduled boxing fight this weekend – and one particular moment is going viral on social media.

After two years of trash talking, Paul and Diaz will finally go head-to-head at the American Airlines Center, Dallas on Saturday night in an eight-round, 185-pound bout.

Diaz, who will take part in his first professional boxing fight, ramped up the mind games back in May, when he temporarily walked out of their pre-fight press conference.

And earlier this week, when the pair came face-to-face in a more private setting, Diaz headed for an early exit again.

But before that, the Stockton-born fighter delivered a bold response when presenter Ariel Helwani asked if his plan was to return to the UFC after Saturday’s bout against Paul.

Diaz said: “My plan is to fight him. If I win, I’ll talk to the UFC and see how they feel. If I lose, I’m going to haunt this mo**********’* life. That’s what fighting is.

“I’m not trying to scare you,” he went on. “I’m just saying. This is what it’s like with everyone I’ve fought. There’s no losing. You’ll have to deal with me forever. That’s the fight game.”

Paul, who struggled to process what Diaz had just said, proceeded to speak about his recent defeat to Tommy Fury.

“I mean, I just lost and made $30 million. It doesn’t feel like a loss. I’m in a bigger fight now. It’s only a loss if you let it be a loss. I learned from it. I brought in a whole new team and became a better man because of it.”

You can watch that moment at 13:00 below. Warning: strong language throughout.

Here’s how social media reacted to Diaz’s outburst.

One said: “Jake Paul looks so scared after this,” while another commented: “Hate this for Nate. He’s probably going to lose this boxing match but it’s going to turn into a real fight either immediately after or in the parking lot.”

A third wrote: “He said that so calmly almost like he didn’t want to say it but he definitely meant it.”

A fourth added: “Damn Nate talking about haunting his opponents was some real talk! Even tho it was hard to understand, I felt it! Even if he loses…down the road, who really won!?”

Paul would later praise the former UFC fighter for his contribution to the sport of MMA.

“He’s a warrior. He’s put on some of the greatest fights in the history of MMA. He has an amazing fan base and people love him for a reason,” the YouTube personality said.

“I know he’s coming to bring a war. That’s what it says ‘ready for a f***ing war’. I think the fans are the ones who are going to win the most out of it because we both don’t want to lose or back down.”

But moments later, Diaz, who looked uncomfortable throughout, abruptly left the interview and said he would be “right back”.

    He never returned.

Anthony Joshua’s rematch with Dillian Whyte has been cancelled

Anthony Joshua’s rematch with Dillian Whyte on August. 12 has been cancelled after the latter returned ‘adverse analytical findings’ in a drugs test.

Matchroom Sport released a statement on Saturday afternoon to confirm the news.

It read: “Today, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) informed Matchroom, the Association of Boxing Commissions and the British Boxing Board of Control that Dillian Whyte had returned adverse analytical findings as part of a random anti-doping protocol.

“In light of this news, the fight will be cancelled, and a full investigation will be conducted. Further information on the event will follow.”

At this moment, it is unclear whether or not Joshua will still fight and take on a replacement opponent on Saturday, according to talkSPORT reporter Michael Benson.

    Image

He added: “Filip Hrgovic vs Demsey McKean was due to be on the undercard, though AJ may now simply wait for proposed Deontay Wilder showdown in January in Saudi Arabia.”

Whyte has been involved in two previous doping scandal, with the most recent being an adverse finding before his fight with Oscar Rivas in 2019.

The bout went ahead and Whyte was later cleared of any wrongdoing by UKAD.

Back in 2013, Whyte was banned for two years after testing positive for a banned substance found in a food supplement.

UK Anti-Doping said the fighter tested positive for the stimulant methylhexaneamine after winning a heavyweight fight against Sandor Balogh on Oct.13.

British heavyweights Joshua and Whyte were set to go head-to-head at the O2 Arena in London next weekend.

“I’ve been clear that my plan is to be active this year,” said Joshua last month. “August 12 is the date, I’ll be ready to fight. I look forward to dealing with business.”

Whyte added: “I’m looking forward to returning to the London O2 on August 12 and going to war. It’s 1-1 so this is the decider!”

Eddie Hearn also commented at the time: “I can’t quite believe this fight is happening and there was absolutely no stopping either man.”

Dillian Whyte responds after Anthony Joshua fight is cancelled following 'adverse analytical findings' in VADA drugs test

Dillian Whyte has responded after his scheduled fight with Anthony Joshua was cancelled due to “adverse analytical findings” in the former’s drug test results.

The pair of Brits were set to fight for a second time at the O2 Arena on August 12 but on Saturday afternoon MatchRoom released an official statement confirming the bout is off following the results of “a random anti-doping protocol”.

They also said “a full investigation will be conducted”.

Whyte has been involved in two previous doping scandals and an adverse finding was uncovered before his fight with Oscar Rivas in 2019.

However, he was later cleared of any wrongdoing by UKAD and the fight went ahead as planned.

And the Body Snatcher, who claims he insisted on VADA administering the bout, has vowed to prove his innocence once again just as he did four years ago.

In a lengthy post on Twitter, Whyte wrote: “I am shocked and devastated to learn of a report by VADA of adverse findings relating to me.

“I only learned of it this morning and am still reacting to it. I have also just seen that the fight is being cancelled without having any chance to demonstrate my innocence before the decision was taken.

“I can confirm without a shadow of doubt that I have not taken the reported substance, in this camp or at any point in my life.

“I am completely innocent and ask to be given the time to go through the process of proving this without anybody jumping to conclusions or a trial by media.

“I insisted on 24/7 VADA testing for this fight, as I have done voluntarily and at my own expense for all of my fights for many, many years.

“This is not the first time that I have been reported as having an adverse finding for a substance which I have not taken, and as I did last time I will again prove that I am completely innocent.

‘In the meantime all I can do is express my extreme disappointment to boxing fans, who will miss out on what was sure to be a great event.”

In 2012, Whyte was hit with a two-year ban from boxing after testing positive for the banned stimulant methylhexaneamine, found in the supplement Jack3d, following his win over Sandor Balogh.

He returned in 2014 and won a slew of fights before suffering his first career defeat at the hands of Joshua.

Early reports suggest Joshua could still be in action, with his promoters looking to try and secure an alternative opponent at short notice.
