F1 has witnessed massive growth over the last few years which has led to the addition of new circuits to the calendar. Drivers take time to adapt and have their unique approaches to adjusting to a whole new surface and layout. Lewis Hamilton for one, has a special way of dealing with these races, as revealed by Ruth Buscombe, former Head of Strategy at Ferrari and Alfa Romeo (Sauber).

Hamilton’s love for traveling around on his scooter is well-known within the F1 paddock. However, he uses it for more than just having fun. Buscombe revealed in The Racing Pilot podcast, that Hamilton used it to get the feel of a new circuit.

“You know, in Qatar last year, which was effectively a completely new track because they’d resurfaced it, you suddenly see Lewis Hamilton out there on a scooter, where normally, he’s not there,” she said.

With the evolution of technology, simulators that replicate real-life results have made things much easier for teams and drivers. It allows them to get an idea of tire degradation and energy consumed in a lap almost perfectly. However, the sensation of a track surface remains something that teams and drivers need to understand physically before suiting up for a race weekend.

While Hamilton uses his scooter to understand track surfaces, other drivers have also come up with their own ways to do the same. Some use scooters, while others resort to bikes and e-bikes to take a lap around a new circuit. Unfortunately, Hamilton or other drivers cannot do what they always have this season. The FIA banned using any kind of vehicle on the track before a race.

Lewis Hamilton’s challenges ahead of the Chinese GP

The upcoming Chinese GP will pose 2024’s first new track challenge for the drivers. While the circuit itself isn’t new, it is making a comeback to the F1 calendar for the first time since 2019. Lewis Hamilton won the last race in China on his way to winning his sixth driver’s championship.

However, that doesn’t mean he knows what to expect once racing begins in Shanghai. Not being able to use the scooter to understand the track surface will add to Hamilton’s ongoing struggles amid another poor season for Mercedes. Hence, the 39-year-old will need to come up with a new way to get a better understanding of the track surface.

Several other stars will drive in Shanghai for the first time. Given the Chinese GP is taking place after four years, the grid has welcomed many new drivers in the interim. Logan Sargeant, Zhou Guanyu, Oscar Piastri, and Yuki Tsunoda all make the list of drivers who will race in China for the first time.

The weekend will pose additional challenges for all the drivers. Aside from the resurfaced track, it will also feature this season’s first Sprint Race. Hence, drivers will only have 60 minutes of preparation time before competitive action begins at the Shanghai International Circuit.

The last two years have seen Max Verstappen completely dominate the world of F1. This dominance has often given way to people thinking Verstappen might have grown bored of the sport. As such, there might be chances of the Dutchman making the jump to another discipline of motorsports just to keep things interesting for himself. A reporter once asked Verstappen if he would ever drive in Formula E. In response, the Dutchman pointed out one major flaw in the venture that will keep him away from Formula E forever.

Before Verstappen detailed his reason for not wanting to drive in FE, he appreciated its drivers. He claimed that several big talents were also a part of F1, including some of his close friends. He kept a close eye on the series too, but would never drive in it.

“It’s not a category where I would like to drive in myself in the future,” said the Dutchman. “It was very cool to see the track in the city. But at the same time, there was a proper jump on the track, so I don’t know who signed it off. He must have been drunk.”

Verstappen might be irked at the idea of driving in Formula E, but the Dutchman isn’t against the idea of delving into other ventures. Over the years, he has spoken about wanting to experience other forms of motorsports while still in his prime. Given the same, it shouldn’t be too long before the three-time F1 world champion makes the jump elsewhere.

Max Verstappen wants to experience racing away from F1

Having won three F1 championships, Verstappen has little left to accomplish in the sport. He isn’t chasing Lewis Hamilton’s win record, so he could explore other ventures before calling it quits in the world of racing.

Verstappen’s interest in motorsports is diverse. He has shown inclination towards series such as Moto GP and Super GT, and the idea of driving a Super Formula car also intrigues the 26-year-old.

However, the appeal of the 24 Hours of Le Mans seems to attract Verstappen the most. Perhaps, the allure has something to do with Jos Verstappen’s participation and achievements in the discipline. Verstappen Sr. raced in the LMP2 series of Le Mans and even won the title in his class in 2008. Having watched his father race in Le Mans, Verstappen, too, wants to make it big in the iconic series.

Notably, Formula E isn’t the only form of motorsports Verstappen would stay away from. He also once revealed that he wouldn’t want to take part in the IndyCar series despite having a lot of respect for what they do.

No one has leveraged their relationship with a driver in F1 like Frederic Vasseur has. Some believe his relationship with Lewis Hamilton was the decisive factor in the Brit’s decision to move to Ferrari. It’s a lesser-known fact that the French boss managed Hamilton during his championship-winning runs in F3 and F2. Vasseur was also Charles Leclerc’s team boss at Sauber back in the day. Having worked closely with his 2025 roster, Vasseur put some minds at ease about how the two superstar drivers may get along.

Whenever there’s a new driver lineup in Formula 1, the possibility of an internal rivalry always comes to mind. Hosting two ambitious drivers like Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, this thought is naturally on everyone’s mind. However, speaking to the media, Vasseur put faith in his future drivers claiming they will get along well. Discussing the Brit’s arrival, Vasseur said, “I’m also super happy because I’m convinced that the two (Charles and Lewis) will get along well.”

The Ferrari boss also pointed out how Hamilton will have a positive impact on the team. He highlighted Lewis Hamilton’s track record, his winning mentality, and his undeniable aura. On top of that, Hamilton’s 16 years of experience will also come in handy.

Not just on the team, the boss believes the 39-year-old will have a positive impact on his future teammate as well. He believes Hamilton’s code of conduct will give Leclerc a reference point.

The Monegasque will be able to see how a world champion operates. How he goes about his business 24/7 and over a season, and what sets him apart from the rest. However, no one can guarantee how their relationship will turn out, especially with both drivers hungry for results.

Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc’s hunger for wins and trophies might force them to clash

Lewis Hamilton has not set foot on the top step of the podium since the 2021 Saudi Arabian GP. Charles Leclerc is facing the same dry spell since the 2022 Austrian GP. So heading into 2025, the two teammates will be desperate for positive results and race wins. Both of them are also desperately chasing a championship. So if either of them gets a chance, no team orders may come into effect and there might be some brilliant head-to-head battles.

However, for that to happen, Ferrari needs to considerably pick up the pace. Red Bull has been head and shoulders above the competition for the past two seasons. They have not given a peep for a win to any other team on the grid.

Whenever they have, Ferrari has been there to capitalize. Albeit with the outgoing Carlos Sainz, the team has made the most of every Red Bull slip-up since the previous season.

This proves Ferrari is progressing in the right direction for a Hamilton-Leclerc head-to-head. So far, the Maranello outfit has covered up the most ground to Red Bull on overall pace. Although there are still a few tenths to go before they can challenge the frontrunners regularly. One would hope they can continue to develop with pace and the future Ferrari men challenge for wins in 2025.

Lewis Hamilton will end his 12-year association with Mercedes after the 2024 season concludes and move to Ferrari. Frustrations with Mercedes’ performance and his desire to compete for wins again were reportedly the motivation for Hamilton to complete this switch. According to Alex Brundle, however, there are other “non-sporting” factors.

Hamilton reportedly earned $50 million a season at Mercedes. He extended his contract in 2023, for two more seasons, but just months later, signed a new deal with Ferrari that would reportedly see him get a $100 million annual payment. Brundle feels that it is “human nature” to go after a move like this.

“Offer to double anyone’s money. Whether you’re making 200 quid a day and are offered 400 quid. Or you’re making 50 million and are offered a 100. Doesn’t matter,” said Brundle in The Racing Pilot podcast. “Offer to double someone’s money, it’s clearly an incentive.”

Brundle acknowledged that Mercedes’ underperformance played its part in making Hamilton leave the Silver Arrows. He recalled Mercedes’ frustrating ordeal in Melbourne last month, where Hamilton had to retire before he could even try fighting with a rather uncompetitive car at his disposal.

Incidents like this piling up, in addition to a lucrative offer from Ferrari motivated the Briton to move away from the Brackley-based outfit, per Brundle.

Lewis Hamilton’s woeful start to 2023

Earlier this season, Hamilton admitted that 2024’s start has been the worst of his career so far. In the first four races, his best finish has been P7, which he achieved in Bahrain and Japan. In Jeddah, he finished P9 and that was followed by a DNF in Melbourne.

To add to his woes, George Russell, his teammate seems to be in a much more comfortable position. The 26-year-old is getting in much better results and is 14 points ahead of Hamilton in the championship standings.

Hamilton doesn’t have to worry about Mercedes’ performances beyond 2024. However, a driver of his caliber struggling to come close to the top three is surprising. Former F1 boss Peter Windsor also feels that Hamilton has to sort his problems out at Mercedes, before heading over to Ferrari.

At Ferrari, the seven-time world champion will be dealing with a completely new environment. If he doesn’t get out of his slump now, life could become difficult for him at Maranello.

Anthony Joshua recently weighed in on the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul exhibition fight that has been getting a lot of headlines due to the nature of the boxers, the legendary “Iron” Mike Tyson will try to move like his glory days at 58, while the Jake Paul at 27 has been doing exhibition fights constantly after he jumped from YouTube to the ring, and is looking to make his bones as a certified prizefighter.

Anthony Joshua predicts the winner of the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul bout

Anthony Joshua reflected on his pick between both with mixed feelings “[Tyson] is older now, I pray that he comes out healthy, I think Jake Paul [wins] because of youth, that’s the only thing.

While being interviewed at the Joshua said on The Jonathan Ross Show this week and elaborated “I personally think it’s really good. I think the boxing hardcores, they don’t like it, because they think, ‘Why are they disrespecting our sport?

While also adding “But I think that [influencer] brings all these people into boxing, which benefits everyone else. Everyone viewing helps.”

A lot has been said about how the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight is also breaking ground by being Netflix’s first live sports event, and some entertainment businessmen like Dana White believe it was about time they dipped their toes in live streaming sports.

UFC head honcho, Dana White weighed in on what it meant for Netflix to now get into the live sports game “I think they’re late to the game, but they are a force. They’re a force, man.” While claiming “I think that Netflix should’ve gotten into live sports years ago,”.

50 Cent Constantly Mocks Diddy And Makes The Most Provocative Statement About Bad Boy Boss Involving Mike Tyson

50 took to Instagram on Sunday (April 7) to share footage of Puffy and Tyson’s awkward appearance together on The Keenen Ivory Wayans Show in 1998.

During the interview, Tyson held Diddy’s hand up to show off his jewelry while saying, “It truly is about the Benjamins,” referencing his classic 1997 song with Biggie, Lil Kim and The LOX.

When reposting the clip, however, 50 claimed that Tyson wasn’t happy with the positioning of Diddy’s hand and was instead moving it away from him.

“hahaha look at Mike, oh no your not gonna touch my ASS buddy. LOL,” he joked in the caption, implying Puffy wanted to grope the champion boxer.

    See the post below.

50 Cent’s post came shortly after he mocked Diddy on stage the night before while performing at J. Cole‘s Dreamville Festival.

“I love you brother, no P. Diddy. I love you…even if you a 𝑠e𝑥 worker,” he told the crowd, referencing the “pause”-esque joke at the expense of the Bad Boy boss and allegations he paid women for 𝑠e𝑥.

Before that, the G-Unit general again made allusions to Diddy’s 𝑠e𝑥uality by clowning him for riding a bike amid his mounting legal troubles.

After photos of the embattled mogul looking unperturbed while cycling surfaced online, 50 joked: “You know there ain’t no seat on that bike right!”

50’s taunts have been relentless in recent months since Diddy was hit with multiple 𝑠e𝑥ual assault lawsuits and had his homes raided by Homeland Security as part of a federal 𝑠e𝑥 trafficking investigation.

The 54-year-old was vehemently denied all of the allegations and, despite the civil suits, has yet to be charged with a crime.

  • Toto Wolff admits Mercedes are in ‘no man’s land’ and claims the season is already over… while Lewis Hamilton will be thinking his Ferrari move can’t come soon enough

Toto Wolff admits Mercedes are in ‘no man’s land’ and claims the season is already over… while Lewis Hamilton will be thinking his Ferrari move can’t come soon enough

It’s the hope that kills you. Only a few days ago Lewis Hamilton was able to muster an expression which had the vaguest semblance of a smile after assessing that his Mercedes was the best it felt for three years.

On Sunday, as his misfiring Merc toiled around Suzuka, that optimism quickly drained from him. That smile (if it was one), you would imagine, was wiped from his face at an even quicker rate.

The 39-year-old was not getting carried away when he made that assessment after practice on Thursday. Hamilton made it abundantly clear that he still knew the limitations of his car. Let’s not forget, two weeks ago Hamilton said this was a car that ‘messes with the mind’.

It’s one that seems to throw up a new challenge around every corner and one that bamboozles even the hi-tech equipment and army of engineers back at their Brackley base. And an old-school, high-octane circuit like this one painfully exposes the shortcomings of a man’s machine.

That’s exactly what it did to Hamilton, who held on to his place inside the top 10, finishing ninth, to tick his points tally for the season over into double figures. ‘I think I picked up a bit of damage at the beginning with Charles (Leclerc), he came around the outside,’ said Hamilton.

Hamilton previously believed his Mercedes car was the best it had been in years before the GP got underway

Hamilton previously believed his Mercedes car was the best it had been in years before the GP got underway

‘I had huge understeer for the first stint. I couldn’t turn the car through any of the corners. ‘The hard tyre was pretty bad. The medium tyre was much better, so yeah, in hindsight it does looks like we should have had two medium tyres. But in general the car was pretty bad.’

That assessment will cause yet more sleepless nights for the Silver Arrows’ team principal Toto Wolff. He cancelled a pre-agreed break from the relentless travel of this 24-race global extravaganza to be on the ground, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with his team in their hour of need.

But the dark clouds continue to hover over the Mercedes chief’s head after he watched Max Verstappen romp to victory in Japan. ‘No one is going to catch Max this season, his driving and the car are just spectacular,’ said the Austrian, who saw Hamilton’s teammate, George Russell, profit from a late mistake by McLaren’s Oscar Piastri to claim seventh place.

‘Basically this season now is best of the rest. That is the fight that is on, hopefully we catch up to the McLaren and then the Ferraris and fight for P2 (second). This is what it is this year.

‘If your expectation is to eventually race for wins and championships, then you can say we are in a bit of a no man’s land.’

There is no doubting where Verstappen stands, though. That is at the top of the tree once more after a brake failure forced him to retire early and brought a bitter end to his nine-race winning streak in Australia two weeks ago.

For anyone wondering whether his failure to win in Melbourne was anything other than a temporary aberration then here was your answer, delivered with the Dutchman’s typically emphatic flair. It may not have been quite as resounding as the victory that he recorded when the Japanese Grand Prix was last held just over six months ago.

But a 12-second gap between Verstappen and team-mate Sergio Perez in second was some way to laugh in the face of those who will have spent the past fortnight praying those reliability issues would rear their head again here. Instead, it was a third one-two finish of the season for the peerless Red Bulls, sending an ominous message, yet again, to the rest of the grid.

Hamilton labelled his car's performance as 'pretty bad' after the race

Hamilton labelled his car’s performance as ‘pretty bad’ after the race

Team boss Christian Horner was less willing to concur with Wolff’s assessment that this championship is already done and dusted after only four races. One would suggest he did so while wearing his best poker face.

‘I’ve learned not to listen too much to what Toto has said over the years,’ quipped Horner. ‘It’s very early to write off your year, there are still 20 races to go. The capacity he (Verstappen) has is very impressive. The form that he had last year has carried through.

‘The way he managed to extend the tyre length here was very impressive. We saw that on the first stint, on the second he did a very good job as well. He’s got a very wise head on still pretty young shoulders.’

Even a brief and unexpected interlude in the form of a red flag on the opening lap — which came after Daniel Ricciardo and Alex Albon had made a mess of the tyre wall heading into turn 3 — failed to knock the peerless Verstappen off his stride.

The charge from the rest of the pack was led by Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz, who fought his way past team-mate Leclerc to claim third place, another impressive outing from the Spaniard after the appendix-less driver pulled off a medical marvel to claim victory in Australia two weeks ago.

Though this was another defeat for Leclerc against Sainz, who will lose his seat with the Italian team to Hamilton for next season, it was an encouraging day for the Monegasque driver who fought his way up from starting down in eighth to finish a commendable fourth.

Hamilton's final season at Mercedes isn't going to plan ahead of him preparing to join Ferrari next year

Hamilton’s final season at Mercedes isn’t going to plan ahead of him preparing to join Ferrari next year

He must rectify his sluggishness in qualifying to give himself the best chance of landing any kind of blow on either of the Red Bull pair. Several teams, including Mercedes, used the early red flag-induced break to tinker with their strategies. Hamilton was moved on to hard tyres and shifted to a one-stop race.

Not long after and the man who has won around this circuit on five occasions — the last time in 2018 — was requesting that his team altered that plan as he slipped further and further down the field. Such is the extent to which Hamilton finds his hands tied by his car that he struggled to even be sure if a change of strategy would have made a difference to the outcome of his race.

‘Nothing, I don’t think,’ said the despondent Englishman when quizzed over what he could have gained on a different strategy. ‘I don’t know what the different strategy would have been, whether it was staying on the medium to start with, but we still had two really terrible hard tyres to run through, so a real challenge today.’

For Hamilton, a weekend that started with so much promise ultimately ended with a painfully familiar ending.
