My dad is not a liar – Max Verstappen defends father amid Christian Horner claim

Max Verstappen stood by his father Jos, saying “he is not a liar” following his explosive claim that Red Bull could explode if Christian Horner remains as team principal.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Verstappen was asked if his father regretted his remarks, which not only cast further doubt over Horner’s future, but of his son.

“I have not asked him that but my dad, from how I know him in go-karting, is very outspoken and he is not a liar, that is for sure.

“My dad and I are very close. We call every day.”

Verstappen’s manager Raymond Vermeulen met with Horner earlier this week in an attempt to clear the air at the crisis-hit team. Neither Max, nor Jos, were present.

And Verstappen added: “I don’t see myself in F1 without them (his father and manager) by my side.”

Horner said following last weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix – won by Verstappen – that he was “absolutely confident” he would stay on as Red Bull boss for the remainder of the season.

Horner has faced intense scrutiny in recent weeks following allegations made against him by a female colleague. He has always denied the claims.

But Verstappen’s 51-year-old father said following last weekend’s toxic race in the Gulf Kingdom: “There is tension here while he (Horner) remains in position.

“The team is in danger of being torn apart. It can’t go on the way it is. It will explode. He is playing the victim, when he is the one causing the problems.”

Asked if he can stay at Red Bull with Horner still in his role, Verstappen replied: “Well we are at the moment. I saw a lot of stories about that, which was a bit weird to read.

“But from my side, what I want and it doesn’t matter who is involved in the team or not, it’s to have a quiet environment where everyone is happy to work.”

However, the intra-team fighting at the grid’s all-conquering team has led to speculation that Verstappen, who has won 18 of the past 19 races, could quit Red Bull for Mercedes.

Verstappen said it was his intention to see out his Red Bull contract, which runs until 2028 but also left the door open to Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton set for Ferrari next year.

“Nobody would have seen that Lewis would move to Ferrari,” he added. “You never know in general life what happens, or comes to you, or happens around you or what might influence you, so you can never say 100 per cent that that is how it is going to be and that is the way I approach my life.

“But I am very relaxed and very happy at the team and the performance is there, so there is no reason to leave.”

He is not a part of the team, he is a parent, so it is definitely not helpful

Lewis Hamilton on Jos Verstappen’s comments

Verstappen Snr will be absent here as he participates in a Belgian rally. Horner will be afforded his right to reply in a press conference alongside four other team principals on Thursday.

Lewis Hamilton was managed by his father, Anthony, in the early part of his career before they split in 2010. Their relationship took years to repair.

Asked about Verstappen Snr’s comments, Hamilton said: “He is not a part of the team, he is a parent, so it is definitely not helpful.

“I don’t know about his relationship (with his father). You obviously hear things here and there. But Max is a grown man and he is a champion and he can make his own decisions.

“In our world as driver, it is very easy to be misled by people whispering in your ear and perhaps guiding you the wrong way.

“I am not saying that is the case there because they are doing a great job, but in sport, other athletes that I have spoken to – and I have experienced it – if you don’t have the right guidance around you that can sometimes lead to wrong decisions and not being able to be the best at what you do. When business is involved it is difficult.”

Lewis Hamilton believes that Max Verstappen is a serious contender to replace him at Mercedes next season.

A vacancy has opened up at the Silver Arrows following Hamilton’s shock decision to join Ferrari.

The apparent division at Red Bull – following the very public spat between team principal Christian Horner and Verstappen’s father, Jos – has led to speculation that the Dutch driver, despite being under contract until 2028, could quit the team which has carried him to the past three world championships.

“My move has shown that anything is possible,” said Hamilton ahead of this weekend’s Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. “I know and I am sure Max is on the list.”

Hamilton and Verstappen’s relationship soured in 2021 as they fought for the world title – with Verstappen taking the championship following a deeply contentious end to the season decider in Abu Dhabi. Tensions were also high between Mercedes and Red Bull.

But Hamilton continued: “I wouldn’t say I am surprised that he is being considered. He is a great driver.

“And Max in that moment did what he had to do. It was nothing on him. It was the sport that let us down and that wasn’t his fault. If I was in his position I would have done the same thing, so there are no issues there.

“If you run a team you want the best driver and a driver that brings in the eyeballs and brings in the sponsorship and he is one of those. I understand it but it wouldn’t make sense for him, but it will be interesting to see.

“George (Russell) is an integral part of this team and he will be here for the long haul. He is doing a great job and he will grow to be a leader of this team so it will be interesting to see what their relationship looks like but I am sure they will work it out.

“It will definitely be a strong line-up.”

Earlier, Russell said he would welcome the challenge of going up against Verstappen, who has won 18 of the last 19 races and is the overwhelming favourite to claim another victory in Jeddah on Saturday night.

“This is my third season alongside Lewis, the greatest of all time and I feel like I have done a pretty good job alongside him,” said Russell.

“So, whoever were to line up alongside me, I welcome the challenge.

“You want to go against the best. I believe I can beat anybody on the grid. Having Lewis as my benchmark has been a good benchmark for sure.

“Any team wants to have the best driver line-up possible and right now Max is the best driver on the grid.

“If any team had a chance to sign Max they would 100 per cent be taking it but the question is on his side and Red Bull’s side and we don’t know what is truly going on behind closed doors and it is none of our business. But it would be exciting.”

Lewis Hamilton warns Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull for Mercedes ‘wouldn’t make sense’ with the Dutchman’s future in doubt after his father called for Christian Horner to quit

Lewis Hamilton believes a switch to Mercedes ‘wouldn’t make sense’ for Max Verstappen but conceded ‘anything is possible’ in Formula One.

The Dutchman has won the last three world titles with Red Bull but his future is in question after his father Jos told Mail Sport that the title-winning team would ‘explode’ unless Christian Horner stands down as boss.

The 50-year-old was exonerated of charges of ‘coercive behaviour’ towards a female colleague last week, before a leaked email produced evidence purporting to show Horner sending suggestive WhatsApp messages to his colleague.

Verstappen Snr and Horner were involved in a heated argument with Horner in Red Bull’s hospitality area in Bahrain last week.

The former also held talks – and a dinner – with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff during the opening weekend of the season, fuelling speculation his son would consider a move elsewhere if the situation at Red Bull didn’t clear up.

With Hamilton set to join Ferrari, a vacancy will be available at Mercedes next season.

But while the Briton was not surprised by rumours linking Verstappen to his seat, he suggested the move would not make sense for his rival.

‘I wouldn’t say I am surprised that he is being considered. He is a great driver,’ Hamilton told reporters in Saudi Arabia, where the second race of the season takes place in Jeddah.

‘And Max in that moment did what he had to do. It was nothing on him. It was the sport that let us down and that wasn’t his fault.

‘If I was in his position I would have done the same thing, so there are no issues there.

‘If you run a team you want the best driver and a driver that brings in the eyeballs and brings in the sponsorship and he is one of those.

‘I understand it but it wouldn’t make sense for him, but it will be interesting to see.’

Hamilton pulled off a shock move of his own last month, when he announced he would leave Mercedes to join Ferrari less than a year after denying talks with the Italian marque over a huge £40million deal.

The seven-time world champion said his split from the Silver Arrows showed nothing can ever be ruled out in Formula One.

‘I think my move has shown that anything is possible, and it’s going to be a really interesting next six months or so. I don’t have any extra scoop,’ he said.

Lando Norris reveals why he is ‘annoyed and unhappy’ as he looks to challenge Max Verstappen at McLaren – but insists he is NOT scared of world champion

Lando Norris has admitted he is ‘annoyed and unhappy’ as he looks to push Max Verstappen for an unlikely world title challenge at McLaren.

Norris secured his first podium of the season at the Australian Grand Prix after taking the chequered flag in third but has endured a mixed campaign.

After finishing sixth and eighth in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia respectively, Norris also missed out on the top three in Japan, having crossed the line in fifth.

He trails runaway leader Max Verstappen by 40 points as a result, dealing an early blow to his ambitions of pushing the world champion at the front of the grid.

Norris, who has not been afraid to question his own form, has resembled a frustrated figure in interviews but conceded that people may draw the wrong impression.

‘I am self-critical and I know it can look bad from the outside, absolutely,’ he told The Guardian. ‘I watch my own interviews and I look so annoyed and unhappy.

‘It’s because my mind is whirling, I’m thinking: “Why did I make a mistake? What happened if I did this or that? What if I had tried something else?”

‘But I set high goals for myself, I know what I am capable of, I want to try to achieve great things and I am not going to do that by being complacent.’

Norris, now in his sixth season in Formula One, is determined to continue pushing himself and is confident he can tussle with Verstappen for the title with McLaren.

‘I believe I can achieve a championship at McLaren, that’s why I signed another contract,’ Norris added. ‘I absolutely think I can give him a good challenge.

‘But I also rate Max. For anyone it’s extremely difficult to go up against Max in his team and challenge him for a world championship.

‘He could have moved to Mercedes back in the day and gone up against Lewis [Hamilton] but would it have been a smart idea to have done that? Probably not and he probably wouldn’t be in a Red Bull now and it would be a different story.

‘I am not afraid in any way of Max, I’m excited to be against Max. People rate him as up with the best, so I would like to prove myself by going up against that.

‘I look forward to being able to battle him, but genuinely for position and not have him half a second a lap quicker and just drive past me.’

Ricky Stuart told rival NRL coach Des Hasler ‘f**k you’ in heated clash outside the dressing rooms – despite pair being mates for 30 years

They are old friends and State of Origin and Kangaroos teammates, but there was no love lost on Sunday between Ricky Stuart and NRL coaching rival Des Hasler in an explosive showdown away from television cameras.

The Canberra great and his Gold Coast coach rival traded barbs in the aftermath of the Raiders’ controversial 21-20 victory that saw a Titans field goal attempt smothered by an offside player – with no penalty blown.

Stuart said Hasler was ‘on another planet’ after the Titans mentor blasted the refereeing of Kasey Badger.

Hasler said her performance was ‘pretty poor’ after his team conceded five penalties to three, and gave away eight set restarts to the Raiders’ one.

Stuart fired back and accused the Titans of ‘cheating’ by wrestling his players for extended periods while they attempted to play the ball, suggesting they could have received ‘another 10 or 12’ set restarts.

Now it can be revealed the warring coaches had a private showdown outside of the dressing sheds.

Several witnesses confirmed the tunnel run-in that ended with Stuart allegedly saying ‘f*** you’ to his Gold Coast counterpart Hasler, according to News Corp.

That is despite the pair having a long-running friendship dating back over three decades.

Stuart and Hasler were the starting halves for the New South Wales Blues in their must-win State of Origin II match in Melbourne in 1990.

While Hasler struggled with a leg injury sustained early in the match, Stuart would streak away for a 70 metre try, showing Queensland winger Les Kiss a clean pair of heels, to help win both the match and the series.

Off the back of that performance in Origin, both Stuart and Hasler were picked for the 1990 Kangaroos tour of Great Britain and France.

The showdown came after Hasler tried to do the right thing by his old friend.

The Titans coach went to the Raiders sheds after he had exploded in the post-match media conference and want Stuart to hear it first from him.

However Stuart did not take the gesture well, reportedly firing back: ‘F… you, we should have got another 15 ‘six-agains’. I’m going to go hard in there [at his media conference].’

Compounding the issue, NRL head of football Graham Annesley confirmed on Monday that Raiders fullback Chevy Stewart was offside when he charged down Titans captain Kieran Foran’s attempt at field goal in the 87th minute.

Annesley’s stats also showed that the Raiders were offside on 10 occasions that were not penalised, but overall they were onside 94 per cent of the time compared to the Titans’ 89.4 per cent.

Hasler, who joked he’d be fined $25,000 for his rant, said ‘some’ of the penalties were warranted.

‘Some of them just leave us battling field position the whole time,’ he said.

The moment Victoria Beckham was wary of Messi’s wife

Lionel Messi’s wife Antonela Rocuzzo turns out to be the subject of Victoria Beckham’s increased vigilance through a video clip spreading on social networks.

Undeniably, David Beckham has always been one of the great idols of football.

It is for this reason that he has attracted the attention of many fans throughout his career, especially the weaker sex.

Because of that, even though they have been married for 24 years, Inter Miami president David Beckham’s wife, Victoria, always appears to be very wary of possible “threats”.

Most recently, a video clip spread on social networks recorded the moment Beckham greeted Antonela Roccuzzo

Lionel Messi’s wife, with a hug that was said to not please the former Spice Girls singer.

This video clip was recorded during an Inter Miami match at DRV PNK Stadium. After Beckham approached Antonela with a hug, Victoria also approached and did the same.

It’s just that the expression on Victoria’s face makes people talk. According to many people’s comments

Posh’s face was enough to say that she was not satisfied with what happened a few seconds before.

“The face Victoria Beckham made after Antonela hugged Beckham was hard to stop laughing HAHAHAHAHA”, “How threatened Posh must be feeling by Antonela

Even though Antonela actually has a HUSBAND who plays for Victoria’s husband’s football team” or “What to say to Posh before these moments” …

Those are the comments from many fans before Victoria’s moment of caution with Messi’s wife caused a stir.

Victoria Beckham shares the hidden corner of her country villa – and the ceiling will make your jaw drop

Victoria Beckham is forever giving us house inspiration by sharing glimpses inside her and her husband David’s fabulous homes

Whether it’s their stunning property in London, their luxury apartment in Miami worth an eye-watering $24 million

Or the idyllic farmhouse they share nestled in the heart of the British countryside.

The super famous couple, who are parents to Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper, moved into the sprawling £12 million country bolthole in 2018

And they have occasionally given fans a peek inside, but Victoria recently posted a video that had us in shock.

The former Spice Girls singer, who often loves to playfully order her ex-footballer husband to take on odd jobs around the house

Insisted on a shirtless David taking to the ladder to fix a light in their huge living room, but we couldn’t take our eyes off their incredibly high ceilings.

Victoria hilariously filmed her husband looking a little displeased as he obliged with the request for her TikTok video

And, in the background of the video, we were able to see more of the stunning room.

Victoria’s TikTok shows just how high the ceilings are. Given that the husband and wife bought the property

And converted it from a barn to a farmhouse – it’s perhaps unsurprising that they’ve kept the exposed

Cotswold stone on the walls and the wooden structure of the ceilings, including the beams, in place. This elevates the farm aesthetic even more, while also being super cosy.

The previously unseen angle in the video also shows how the Beckhams need a seriously tall ladder for David to reach the lightbulbs nestled within the beams.

We also love that the home has a traditional fireplace leading to the chimney, and a huge chandelier hanging from the ceiling, adding a touch of elegance.

Meanwhile, the Beckhams’ lounge at their Cotswold home is so big, it doubles up as a relaxing area and dining area.

At one end of the room, there is a seating area consisting of a green velvet Chesterfield sofa with a matching burgundy-hued Ottoman.

There’s also a single armchair in a woven fabric which fits in perfectly with the countryside theme.

At another area in the room sits a second fireplace and the couple have placed a large dining table in front of it, meaning they can enjoy Sunday roasts in front of the fire.

On the other side of the table is the huge window allowing for plenty of natural daylight to flood in.

David Beckham gave his mother a huge gift but ignored his father’s pleas, why?

David Beckham had a chuckle while washing dishes with his mother after they enjoyed a family meal together.

The 48-year-old dad-of-four – who is famously married to 49-year-old former Spice Girl, Victoria – proved he’s more than happy to do a little house work from time to time.

The ex-footballer was round his 74-year-old mum Sandra’s house where he enjoyed a relaxed lunch with his family.

Taking to social media, attention seeking David shared a photo of himself in fits of laughter at the sink. He had just enjoyed a lunch of ham, egg

And chips while being joined by his younger sister, Joanne Louise, and his wife and two youngest children.

Posing for a snap, David took aim at his sister for failing to help him and his mum with the dishes – but seemed to have a hilarious time carrying out the basic chore regardless.

The image showed the sport star flashing a wide smile and he uploaded the snap with the caption:

“Lunch with mum & then the dishes with a few laughs love u mum @sandra_beckham49 @jo_jo_beckham_ who didn’t do dishes SHOCKER chips were ok though.”

David may soon be able to put his feet up and live off the fruits of his offspring, however

As reports have suggested his youngest child is to be set to work to help boost the family fortune.

Recent reports have claimed Victoria is lining up 12-year-old daughter Harper Seven to be the new face of the Beckham brand.

A carefully curated Instagram is expected to launch soon, and the mother and daughter are said to be collaborating on

A beauty brand that they hope will have wide appeal to those wanted to waste their money on yet another celebrity make-up line.

Vicky is said to be on standby to guide her daughter to ensure she produces the best social media content that they can devise together.

A source told Heat: “Harper is excited to finally allowed to be on social media, but Victoria is obviously very protective of her and wants to take it slowly.

Her Instagram debut won’t be any huge push and will be very tightly controlled, but Vic has been moulding her into a mini-me fashionista since she was very young.”

The publication also claims Victoria and Harper are “working on a project together” for Victoria Beckham Beauty

With the aim of cracking the “tween and teen luxury market” by unleashing products marketed to younger women and girls.

Fans will be able to see more of Harper’s life once the social media account is activated unlike never before.

While Vicky and Dave have shielded Harper from the glare of the public eye to an extent, they have also frogmarched her out in front of photographers at many major events.

Harper is a regular attendee of her mother’s fashion week shows – showing up to support her mother alongside her dad and siblings.

She was also on the red carpet for the launch of her parents’ mediocre Netflix documentary series – which was slammed by TV fans as ‘unfiltered exclusive access marketing guff’.

And Harper is occasionally featured on her parents’ social media feeds – where she snuggles up to her father, and dresses up with her mother.
