Loose Women star Gloria Hunniford has revealed the heartbreaking question she asks herself following the death of her beloved husband.
The 84-year-old graces our screens every week as a regular fixture on ITV’s Loose Women and a presenter for BBC’s Rip Off Britain. But away from TV, Gloria suffered immense heartache when her husband, Stephen Way, passed away at the age of 85 just six months ago. It followed the traumatic loss of her daughter Caron Keating, who died of cancer at the age of 41 two decades ago.
Now the star has bravely opened up about her darkest moments after losing Caron and then her husband. She told the Mirror: “Some of my worst times when Caron passed and also when Stevie passed were if I was at home on my own.” She added: “And suddenly your mind wanders and you think: ‘What happened there, for goodness’ sake?’.”

The Loose Women star has been dealing with the grief of her husband, along with her daughter’s death two decades go
Gloria also revealed that her grief over Caron’s death inspired her to join the cast of Strictly Come Dancing in 2005. Recalling how she struggled to cope, she said: “When Caron died, I said: ‘I don’t think I’ll ever smile again’”.
“One of my sons found that very sad, so when Strictly came up, they said: ‘look, it’ll be good for you.’ And it was. It gave me something to laugh about, it was a challenge, the people were lovely and the glitter was lovely; it was helpful.”
Opening up about the profound pain of child loss, she said: “One of the hardest aspects of grief is when you lose a child. You cannot carry a baby for nine months, love that child and not feel the incredible pain at losing that child. It’s indescribable.”

The TV star said even at 84, that work is her lifeline from sorrow and is something that keeps her going through the harrowing toll of grief. Gloria shared: “Work makes me feel safe, because I have a structure, I know what I’m supposed to be doing. All the emotional stuff and all the heartbreak, that’s the hard bit to cope with.”
“As long as you can take your [self] away from grief for an hour it helps clear your mind for a little while.” She continued: “I’ve worked since I was seven and for me doing things and keeping busy is good for my head. To do nothing would be miserable for me. My way of coping wouldn’t be for everybody and I’m sure it’s quite controversial, but I love work.”

This coping mechanism has been her anchor during recent trying times, particularly as she navigates this year without her cherished “Stevie”, including on her 85th birthday on April 10. Gloria and her businessman partner had been an item since the mid-1990s and tied the knot in 1998, a leap of six years following her split from Don Keating, the dad to her three kids.
Reflecting on her family bonds, she added: “I think as you get older you really appreciate your children more and more. My two boys have been so amazing since Stephen died. Having children was the best thing I ever did in my life.”

However, it hadn’t stopped Mel from planning the ultimate wedding as it has been said Scary Spice and her new husband enjoyed a meal, drinks and dancing after their nuptials at the luxury Shangri-La at The Shard in London.
An insider said the wedding would “huge” and the “most memorable event” but two of her Spice Girl bandmates are “too busy” to attend. However, Mel C made sure to pay tribute to her on social media.

Still nothing from Mel C and Geri
While Baby Spice was at the wedding, and Posh sent a sweet message on social media this morning, Sporty and Ginger are yet to publicly wish their pal well on her nuptials.
Their absence at Mel’s special day is yet to be explained. Victoria was unable to attend due to “scheduling conflicts”. A source close to the fashion designer said: “Victoria has long standing plans out of the country and she simply can’t be there.
“She adores Mel, they get on really well despite their paths going in opposite directions. It’s a real shame. There is no issue between them, they haven’t fallen out. It’s just one of those things.”
Why were Mel and Rory able to have their wedding at St Paul’s Cathedral?
Around 30 couples marry inside the iconic building but as St Paul’s is not a parish church, there are conditions on who can be married there.
On the official website, St Paul’s Catherdral states: “We are able to marry members of: the Order of the British Empire, and their children, the Order of St Michael and St George, and their children, the Imperial Society of Knights Bachelor, and their children, and the Cathedral Community (staff and volunteers, including Cathedral School, subject to length of service), and their children.”
Mel was given permission to wed in because she was awarded an MBE in 2022 for her services to charitable causes and vulnerable women. Following the ceremony inside St Paul’s, a reception at The Shard was booked for after the ceremony.

Melanie was walked down the aisle by James Steen, the husband of Louise Grannon, Melanie’s biographer. While her now husband, Rory, was supported at the alter by his best man, Jordan McPhee.

Mel B worked very closely with London-based Evelie Bridal and Josephine Scott to design the georgette crepe gown, which showcased her gym-honed physique in a corset bodice. Her beautiful gown featured draping, which hugged her silhouette and flowed freely into a dramatic train.
Meanwhile, a detachable jacket was decorated with hand-embellished pearl constellations across the high neckline, with the long-sleeved jacket framing her shoulders and adding a regal touch to her gown, in true St Paul’s etiquette.
Mum-of-three Melanie, opted for a white with a cathedral-length veil which trailed down the 158-meter-long aisle, scattered with pearls and, in true Mel B style, a touch of drama.
Speaking to the Mirror, owner of Evelie Bridal, Caroline Black, who styled Melanie said: “From the moment Mel walked through the doors at Evelie, this journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.
“Helping a real Spice Girl choose her wedding dress—what could possibly top that? But what’s truly made this experience so meaningful is getting to know Mel as just Mel — not the icon, but the woman. It’s been such an honour.”
Meanwhile, the designer, Josephine Scott said: “Designing this gown for Mel was about capturing her fearless spirit and softness all in one look. She’s iconic, powerful, and radiant — and this dress had to be worthy of that.
“Every detail was chosen to honour her strength and sensuality while celebrating the woman and the love story beneath the girl power.”

However, last year, the mum of three, who has played the iconic Chas on Emmerdale for 23 years, shared an Instagram video post in which she was wearing a diamond engagement ring.

Janet continued: “Then go to another like Dubai..” Denise interrupted saying: “You pay no tax and it’s safe. In this country we respect the country’s human rights more than the victim’s human rights.”

She continued: “Dermatologists are warning we are all guilty of not taking enough time to really look at our skin and therefore look after ourselves.”

Ruth Langsford shared a health update with viewers
She started off by saying: “When I was younger, you kind of ignored things and you never thought about it. But definitely as I’ve gotten older – I’ve been twice this week – I go twice a year to get my moles checked.
“When we were young, we didn’t know the dangers of sunbathing and my dad’s in the army so we were abroad a lot running around in the sun. I remember sunscreen being around but not smothering it on.”
Pointing at her skin, Ruth then revealed: “I’ve just had a little thing done here this week but it’s nothing to worry about because it’s been checked.”
Co-star Coleen pointed out: “Didn’t you go green earlier” to which Ruth replied: “I did go green but it’s gone now. I don’t know what that was, maybe because it was early morning.”
Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, is a huge tennis fan and is often spotted at Wimbledon. The princess and her mother have even been spotted together in the Royal Box

Kate Middleton “fulfilled a long held promise” to her daughter Princess Charlotte, feeling “guilty” for not spending enough time with her due to cancer treatment.
The Duchess of Cambridge, an avid tennis enthusiast and patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club since 2016, is often seen at Wimbledon and is expected to grace the Royal Box once more this year.
Last year, Charlotte made her debut at the prestigious tennis event, fulfilling a vow Kate had made to treat her to the finals. Speaking to The Sun, royal biographer Ingrid Seward explained: “It was a long held promise that Kate would take Charlotte to the finals as a special treat.
“Kate felt guilty she hadn’t been able to spend as much time as she would have liked to be with the kids because of her exhaustion after her treatment.”

Seward also suggested that Charlotte’s presence helped to shift the focus from Kate, who, despite her health struggles, was “determined” to make it to Centre Court last year.
Young royal Charlotte was lauded by body language expert Judi James as Kate’s “wing-girl” during a public appearance.
Judi James told The Mirror: “Charlotte is still showing signs of being her mother’s wing-girl. She is now grown up enough to walk independently beside or behind her mother, with Kate only performing a small, loving touch on the back to bring her forward for her handshakes,” reports Gloucestershire Live.

Moreover, Judi observed: “Charlotte is so clearly still using her mother as her body language role model, too. She appeared to be tuned into Kate closely, changing her own pose to mirror her mother’s while they all stood chatting.”
Wimbledon commenced this Monday and is set to continue until Sunday, July 13. Royal sightings have become a huge aspect of the prestigious tennis event.
The tournament’s first day saw Sarah, Duchess of York, gracing Wimbledon with Princess Beatrice by her side, whilst Lady Gabriella Kingston made an appearance with philanthropist Robert Denning.

The grand slam also attracts a steady stream of celebrities, including newly knighted Sir David Beckham who was seen savouring the matches from Centre Court.
Hollywood A-lister Jessica Alba was spotted soaking in the atmosphere along with her daughter Honor Warren. Radio One’s Mollie King and England cricket star Stuart Broad were also among the attendees who added glamour to the sporting spectacle on Monday.
A royal insider has revealed the simple household job that the late Queen would take great delight in accomplishing, often charming her guests with the down-to-earth habit

Despite the huge list of privileges that come with being a member of the royal family, there is one thing that not all of us are immune to: household chores. While it’s safe to assume that the royals have an army of Palace staff that keep their homes in pristine condition, there are always some things you just have to do yourself.
For the late Queen, one household chore was actually very therapeutic, with the monarch often charming her house guests by taking up the humble habit, as a royal expert claims Her Majesty revelled in donning a pair of yellow gloves and doing the washing up.

In his biography Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait, Gyles Brandreth revealed the Queen’s wholesome habit, with former Prime Minister David Cameron recalling the moment he tried to help with the dirty dishes during one of his trips to Balmoral.
The former Prime Minister told Gyles: “I’m not making this up, you sat down and Prince Philip and Her Majesty The Queen served your dinner and cleared it away and washed it up while you sat talking with the other guests.
“I remember thinking it was sort of year five, I thought: ‘Well, I now surely can help’ and got up and got on the Marigolds and started doing the washing-up. And I remember Her Majesty saying: ‘What on earth is the Prime Minister doing?’ I’d broken with the protocol and rapidly sat back down and did what I was told.”
Mr Cameron wasn’t the only person charmed by the Queen’s insistence to clean up after herself and her guests, as another close friend of the Firm recounted a similar experience during a small luncheon.
Dickie Arbiter, who worked closely with the Queen for many years as her Press Secretary, was invited to a small private lunch with the late Monarch and her husband, Prince Philip, which ended up with the two of them carrying out the unexpected domestic chore.

Speaking to True Royalty TV , Dickie explained that he had volunteered to clean up from the lunch and ventured to the kitchen to begin the process of washing dishes when he heard a “very familiar voice” behind him.
He said: “When I arrived at Buckingham Palace, my boss said to me, ‘you’ve been invited to Balmoral for a dine and sleep to meet the Queen’.
“There were only four of us at this lunch: The Queen, her lady-in-waiting, Prince Philip and myself. It lasted about 45 minutes, with china plates, silver cutlery and Tupperware that we helped ourselves from.
“And at the end of it, the Queen said, ‘We’ve got to clear up’ and I took it as my cue as the junior flunky to do the washing up. So I went into the kitchen and started washing up. I heard this footfall behind me and assumed it was the lady-in-waiting coming to give me a hand.
“I said over my shoulder without even turning, ‘Okay, I’ll wash you dry’. This very familiar voice behind me said, ‘No, I’ll wash, you dry’. It was the Queen. So she plunged her hands into the fairy liquid – no gloves – and I did the drying up. It was quite an experience to actually do a bit of domesticity with a head of state.”
Noel Gallagher has told the crowd inside Cardiff’s Principality Stadium just who was the reason behind him finally ending his feud with brother Liam Gallagher and getting Oasis back together
The Gallagher brothers have let slip the real reason they got the band back together. During Oasis’ second night performing at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Noel Gallagher revealed who was behind him finally ending his bitter feud with brother Liam Gallagher.
Oasis mania has swept the UK once again but it wasn’t too long ago that it was unimageable that we’d ever see Noel and Liam on stage together following a dramatic fallout in 2009.
The reunion announcement last year came 15 years after Noel quit the Manchester band, saying he “simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer”, after a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris.
But speaking on stage this evening, Noel was overcome with emotion at times as he shared the stage with his brother once again. On night two of the show, Noel took a moment to give a shout out to Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs when the group returned for an encore.

He said: “On guitar, if it wasn’t for him, none of this would have happened!”
Noel and Liam swaggered on to the stage before waving at concertgoers at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on Friday, the first stop on their long-awaited worldwide reunion tour.
The brothers, who had not performed together since their dramatic split in 2009, blasted through their setlist, kicking off with Hello, from their second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory?
During the gig, the lead singer apologised to fans for how long it had taken for them to reunite. Liam spoke to the audience several times throughout the set, saying: “Hello people, it’s been too long,” before their third song, (What’s the Story).
Before launching into Cigarettes And Alcohol, Liam demanded the audience embrace, telling fans to turn around and hug a stranger.
He said: “Right then beautiful people, I want to see you all turn around and put your arms round each other. And when the tune starts, jump up and f****** down.”
Both brothers made joking references to the dynamic pricing scandal, which caused outrage among fans trying to buy tickets for shows in the UK and Ireland, with some standard tickets appearing to jump from £148 to £355. The controversy prompted the Government and the UK’s competition watchdog to pledge to look at the use of dynamic pricing.
After Liam walked off stage following Roll With It, Noel took over singing duties for the first time. He quoted the audience a price the gig was worth, before saying: “It’s just gone up.” Later, Liam said: “Was it worth the £40,000 you paid for a ticket?”
During the final bars of Live Forever, a picture of Diogo Jota, the Liverpool footballer who died in a car accident on Thursday, was displayed, and the crowd cheered and applauded the gesture.
As they broke into fan-favourite Champagne Supernova, their final song of the evening, the lead singer said: “Right you beautiful people, this is it. Nice one for putting up with us over the years, we know we’ve been difficult. Champagne Supernova, nice one.”
While the brothers shared no banter on stage throughout the gig, they very briefly high-fived and half-hugged each other’s shoulders after their closing track.
Oasis was supported by fellow 90s group Cast and former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft. Cast, an indie rock band from Liverpool, also paid tribute to Diogo Jota, dedicating their top 10 hit Walkaway to the footballer.
Channel 4’s Grand Designs rejected a country mansion worth £3 million after they refused to send host Kevin McCloud to visit the property as it was going ‘too well’
Channel 4 turned down a Yorkshire project(Image: Channel 4)
For a quarter of a century, Kevin McCloud has been the face of Channel 4’s much-loved renovation series, Grand Designs. The programme showcases the trials and triumphs of individuals as they strive to build their dream homes, documenting every step from design to completion.
However, it appears that not all projects make the cut for the show, particularly if they’re going too smoothly. The owner of a Yorkshire property has spoken out, claiming that Channel 4 cancelled the show’s visit after deciding against featuring the home. According to the Yorkshire Post, the production company behind Grand Designs had identified the construction of Hawksworth’s Moor Reservoir in Yorkshire as an ideal project.

Despite its breathtaking location and daring architecture, Channel 4 decided against filming the project because “there wasn’t enough drama”. The former owner of Hawksworth Moor Reservoir, Jonathan, shared his disappointment about Channel 4’s decision with the publication, reports the Express.
He revealed: “We thought it would go ahead and had even briefed about booking in ‘Kevin days’ but then got an email saying Channel 4 didn’t want to go with the project because they thought it would run too smoothly and wouldn’t provide enough drama.
“It was definitely a compliment, in a way,” he shared, adding, “I spent a number of years restoring a 16th-century farmhouse in Haworth and I liked living there, but I wanted another project and I wanted something different, a bigger challenge.
I’ve always moved up a level each time I renovated, and this is definitely the pinnacle.”
The Grand Design’s light house project was dubbed “the saddest episode”(Image: Channel 4)
Describing the grand estate, the country mansion sprawls across 12 acres and features four en-suite bedrooms, a home cinema, a games room complete with comfy seating and an expansive open-plan kitchen that proudly houses a boardroom-style dining table that seats 14.
Further amenities include a separate annex with three more bedrooms, a private gym, a well-appointed office, a modern shower room, and even a kitchen within the garage.
Jonathan conceded: “The build went very smoothly, we went over budget, but there was a conscious decision to spend more on the heat recovery and ventilation units and the kitchen. There were no sleepless nights.”
The Mirror has reached out to Channel 4 for comment.
Last month, a Grand Designs property that took two decades to renovate went on the market for £1.5 million, with fans calling it the “perfect” home.
Actress Linda Robson has spoken out about her former co-star Pauline Quirke’s battle with dementia, saying she doesn’t think her friend remembers her anymore

Linda Robson has given a heart-wrenching update on her friend Pauline Quirke’s battle with dementia, revealing that the actress doesn’t speak much and no longer recognises her own grandchildren. Last month, Pauline’s husband Steve Sheen announced that she had been diagnosed with the illness in December 2021.
He stated that the 65-year-old actress had withdrawn from all professional and commercial activities, but her nationwide performing arts academy would continue to operate in line with her beliefs. Linda, who starred alongside Pauline and Lesley Joseph in the sitcom Birds of a Feather, has maintained contact with Pauline’s family since the diagnosis.
“I kept in touch with Steve the whole time over the last few years and Emily and Charlie too, those are her kids,” she shared with Love Sunday magazine. Linda, a Loose Women star, noted a significant change in her long-time friend, who she believes no longer remembers her.
“She doesn’t remember her grandchildren,” she said. “So, she’s not going to remember who I am even though we’ve been friends for 56 years. It really is sad.”
Despite finding it difficult to discuss her friend’s “terrible” illness, Linda expressed gratitude for the support shown towards Pauline. The actress is most recognised for her role as Sharon Theodopolopodous in the sitcom Birds of a Feather, which aired for nearly three decades, reports Bristol Live.

Over her 50-year career, she has appeared in over 60 TV and film productions, including The Sculptress, Broadchurch, Carrie’s War, North and South, Casualty, and ITV’s Emmerdale.
Dementia manifests differently in different people and comes in various forms. However, according to the NHS, there are some common early signs that may emerge before a dementia diagnosis.

These include difficulty concentrating, struggling with daily tasks, having trouble following conversations or finding the right words, confusion about time and place, and mood changes. The NHS website states: “These symptoms are often mild and may get worse only very gradually.”
It further explains, “It’s often termed ‘mild cognitive impairment’ (MCI) as the symptoms are not severe enough to be diagnosed as dementia.”
The NHS also emphasises that dementia is not a natural part of ageing and advises seeking medical advice sooner rather than later if you’re concerned about memory issues or other symptoms.
