Princess Kate Giving Prince William Look Caught on Camera

Princess Kate bringing Prince William into line “immediately” with a firm look has resurfaced in a clip on TikTok from an overseas visit right before Prince Harry met Meghan Markle.

The Prince and Princess of Wales joined Prince Harry and King Charles III for commemorations marking 100 years since the First World War Battle of the Somme in July 2016.

During the visit Kate and William were walking together when the princes appeared to become distracted, prompting the princess to shoot her husband a look over her shoulder.

And as soon as she said the word “William” he fell back into line behind her. The moment caught attention on TikTok after it was posted with the message: “The way he followed her immediately & THE LOOK KATE GAVE

The visit to the Thiepval Memorial, in Albert, France, on July 1, 2016, was naturally a somber one and Kate told bystanders how moving she found it.

Quoted in the Daily Mirror, Poppy Hodgson, from Hermitage Academy in Chester-le-Street, England, said at the time: “She [Kate] said it was quite emotional being here and that they were really enjoying their visit. She said it was very moving.”

However, it also came at a pivotal moment for the royal family, right before Harry met Meghan Markle for the first time.

He wrote in his book, Spare: “I’d just come back from a trip with Pa, Willy and Kate to France, where we’d marked the anniversary of the Battle of the Somme, honored the British dead, and I’d read a haunting poem, ‘Before Action.’

“It was published by a soldier two days before he’d died in action. It ended: “Help me to die, O Lord.”

“Reading it out, I realized I didn’t want to die. I wanted to live. A fairly staggering revelation for me just then.”

Motivating Harry’s new hunger for life was a video he saw in his Instagram feed of Meghan with his friend Violet von Westenholz: “There was an energy about her, a wild joy and playfulness. There was something in the way she smiled, the way she interacted with Violet, the way she gazed into the camera.

“Confident. Free. She believed life was one grand adventure, I could see that. What a privilege it would be, I thought, to join her on that journey.

“I got all of that from her face. Her luminous, angelic face. I’d never had a firm
opinion on that burning question: Is there just one person on this earth for each of
us? But in that moment I felt there might be only one face for me. This one.”
