The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have often been accused of making announcements that clash with high profile events for the Royal Family, but one expert has claimed they are ‘increasingly irrelevant’

Since stepping back from their senior Royal duties, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been regularly updating the public on their personal milestones and business ventures. However, it’s been noted that the timing of these announcements often coincides with significant events in the Royal Family’s calendar.

This pattern has led a top Royal expert to suggest that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are becoming “increasingly irrelevant” as the Royal Family focuses more on supporting those in need through meaningful gestures.

“I can’t honestly imagine that they are sitting there scheming to make announcements on the same day as a royal event. Surely they are bigger than that? “, former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond pondered.

“It’s true that there have been some rather strange coincidences in the past about the timing of some of their announcements. But I think they are becoming less and less relevant to the news over here, and the Royal Family will command the attention every time.”

Over time, the couple have raised eyebrows by making announcements that have clashed with important or significant days for the Royal Family, reports OK!.

Recent events have seen a product launch clashing with Trooping the Colour, coinciding with the Princess of Wales ‘ first public appearance post-cancer treatment. Additionally, Meghan’s luxury lifestyle brand American Riveria Orchard was announced just before Prince William’s speech at an awards ceremony honouring his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

However, the Royal Family has recently made their loyalties clear amidst a flurry of Royal engagements. During the recent Royal Ascot week, one gesture stood out as King Charles invited Lady Gabriella Kingston to join him in one of the carriages on the first day of the procession.

This heartwarming act followed the tragic suicide of Lady Gabriella’s husband, Thomas Kingston, aged 45, in February.

“The death of Gabriella’s husband shocked the whole family, and I’m sure they have all tried to help in what is a deeply sensitive situation,” Jennie says. “But what a lovely gesture by the King to invite her into the carriage – and on the first day of Royal Ascot.”

“It’s a unique way for Charles to show is support and affection for Gabriella and a brave decision on her part to make such a very public appearance. She must be a strong woman.”

“What said it all, though, was the massive hug Zara gave her which was so obviously full of love, sympathy and support. I think it showed the family have been and are doing all they can to help her through this devastating time.”
